Pros: Cleans well, vacuum hose tools work great. Love the wide wheelbase. Cons: It's exceptionally heavy and the vacuum hose never seems to reach long enough.
(Apologies for the unoriginal use of the word "Eureka!" in my title.) My first real vacuum cleaner purchase about ten years ago was one of those Fantom Thunder bagless vacuums. At the time, it was one of the few vacuums that was bagless and I found ...
Pros: Quiet yet powerful. Finds dirt you never knew you had. Cons: Questionable edge cleaning.
Let me start by writing that I'm glad that I don't have to choose and buy a vacuum frequently. That being said, I think I'm pretty proficient at where to look and what to look for now. The key to my search was Consumer Reports and the cornerstone to my...
Pros: Good value, above average worker, great on rugs Cons: Could be heavy for elderly, petite
Bought this product via a website by a phone call. I bought this baby because of that magazine that rhymes with "con-plumer retorts" which I can't mention, lest they sue me for mentioning them by name. 11/2003 article on vacuums. The Eureka 4870 was ...
Pros: Price - performance, easily matches machines costing $100 or more above the 4874's price. Cons: 2 pronged plug pulls easily out of the electrical outlet
My wife has been complaining about needing a new vacuum and her dustbuster type vacuum needed replacing as well. So my quest began for a vacuum that could do dual duty. Problem 1 solved because the 4874 has a switch that easily shuts off the beater ...
Pros: Great suction, does a great job picking up the filth (on carpet & hard floors) Cons: VERY cumbersome, heavy, loud, short hose
I am a petite lady, currently 9 months pregnant. I've spent a few weeks now emailing friends and surfing the web for input on vacuum cleaners. I finally subscribed to Consumer Reports and found out that the vacuum that I was going to buy (Dyson Animal ...
Pros: True sealed HEPA, outstanding value, strong suction on all surfaces, furniture bumpers, quiet Cons: At this price, none. In a perfect world, it needs a better cord management system.
It's hard to find much to complain about with this machine at this price. Suction is strong, though not as a strong as a typical built in central vacuum. The brush roller works very well on carpet - has made ours look better than new. I have had no ...
Pros: Great sucking power. Cons: The step handle release is tight.
I have the Eureka 4874B which is blue, but has almost exactly the same features. Pros- great sucking power. Watch out what you get close to because this vacuum will make it disappear. Washable filter on my model the 4874B. Bag easy to change and to ...
Pros: Excellent value. Washable HEPA filter. Microfiltration bags. Easy to disassemble and clean. Cons: Slightly heavier than anticipated. Short attachment hose.
We have had this vacuum for about 4 months now and it does everything we expect a vacuum to do. It picks up dirt off a carpet and it does it very well. I have taken in apart to clean the tubes and roller brush and couldn't believe how easy it was to...
Pros: Great on hard floors, powerful sucking, long-life belt Cons: Upholstery tool, brush won't stop in upright position, short hose, Eureka won't back product.
Update 7/30/06 I have been using my new vacuum for a year and a half now. It was the same model number, but different color. It has been working just fine. I thought it only fair to share the good, along with the bad! This vacuum is working well and ...
Pros: quiet, HEPA filter, amazing cleaning capability Cons: edge cleaning, short hose, sucks a little TOO well
I recently moved into an apartment with carpet (after being used to hardwood floors), so needed a good vacuum. I suffer from environmental allergies (and yet I own a cat- although I'm allergic), so I wanted something with a HEPA filter. I already have a...
Pros: Excellent dust retention.
Brush stops when handle is upright.
Big bag.
Cons: Doesn't fit under furniture well.
Bags cost money.
Weak cord holder.
Eureka is, to the best of my knowledge, the only vacuum company that makes a claim for dust retention for a HEPA system. Many companies claim 99% or whatever of retention in the filter, but say nothing about how much dust makes it's way ...
The BEST Vacuum I have ever used!!! by cowboy34blue ,Apr 18 '04
Pros: Quiet, excellent suction and performance. Hose and tools well designed!! Cons: NONE
Just purchased this vacuum and I am extremely satisfied. I have always been a Hoover fan, but this vacuum is so much better than my Windtunnel. This vacuum is an outstanding value for the features. Very quiet, excellent suction, does a great job on carpet. The hose is very well designed and easy to use, since the machine doesn't tip over when you are using the hose. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone looking for a sturdy vacuum with excellent performance. Eureka did a good job on this one!!
Pros: see above for pro's Cons: see above for con's
I bought this when my old bagless broke down (different brand) and was skeptical at first. It quickly proved to be a very good vacuum, lightweight and easy to use. The suction is just as good today as it was the day I purchased it.
Great suction, love that all the attachments stay on board.
The filter is difficult to clean. We take it outside, give it a few whacks, then use compressed air to blow it all out.
