Pros: long pivot cord, even dependable heat with all fabrics, burst-of-steam feature Cons: none so far

six months ago after my son borrowed my old dollar store iron and never returned it. I had only paid ten dollars for the old iron but it had lasted me ...
Pros: Cool video on the box that will entertain your kids for 10 or 15 minutes. Cons: Poor Quality, Short Life Span, Possible Fire Hazard
My last iron was a $100 Rowenta Pro. Loved it while it worked but for a hundred bucks, I wanted something to last more than a year. Several months ago we saw the Shark Euro-Pro at BJ's Wholesale Club. It was on a featured display with a ...
Pros: Looks good. Long cord. Heavy weight seems to indicate high-quality. Cons: Stops working. Takes forever to heat up. Ridiculously expensive for what you get.
I'm afraid this review won't add anything to the debate. This iron is a piece of junk. I see that mine lasted longer than most -- three years -- before giving up the ghost. But it's been a painful three years. From Day One, it's been very difficult to ...
Pros: Pretty stainless steel, fancy looking lights Cons: Tips over easily, hard to fill, quits working, doesn't steam well, cheaply made
Quite literally the only thing this iron has going for it is the 'fancy' stainless look and it's long cord. Even that doesn't last. It's sole plate scratches easily and gets a grungy dingy coating on it after a short time using it. Iron cord wraps ...
Pros: Beautiful iron. High wattage. This iron seem to have gotten hotter than some I've used. Cons: Not worth the price! Cord is way too long. Cord keeps getting twisted.
I bought this iron not even 2 years ago. I liked this iron, because it ironed my clothes really well, unlike other irons. I wanted an iron that really gets hot. From day one it didn't produce a burst of steam like the box said ...
Pros: NONE WARRANTED FOR THIS IRON Cons: CHEAPLY MADE CHROME FINISH IS PEELING OFF. DRIPS WATER CONSISTENTLY STAINING CLOTHES.
It was with great pleasure that I watched the Shark being compressed by our Garbage Truck today. This piece of garbage has stained its last piece of clothing at our house. I have had to wash more clothing since I purchased this iron due to staining ...
Pros: Great for a few months! Cons: Without warning, completely dies after 5 months. Nothing customer service would do to fix it.
Hi, all - I seriously wish I would have read your comments before putting the Shark on my registry. My husband and I have now been married 5 months, and received this as a gift for the wedding. At first, I was so excited to have such a great ...
Pros: Volume of steam on higher settings, but very little on low setting (nylon) Cons: How I can limit the "cons" to 15 words or less??...DON'T BUY IT!
I purchased the Euro-Pro GI490 yesterday and will be returning it today for a refund! I was thoroughly impressed with the volume of steam, but the steam doesn't do you any good when the iron constantly shuts off when left unattended for 3 ...
I'm STEAMED Over This Iron! by depaola1 ,Jul 26 '06
Pros: Adjustable Steam, Worked Great While It Worked Cons: Quit working after 6 months of light service
My story is similar to others I've read, but I feel like I need to add my two cents worth. I purchased this iron at Target 6 months ago. I used the iron on average 4 times per week for touch up ironing & steaming.
Initially it worked great. I loved the adjustable steam settings & the weight of the iron. It was very easy to use & I was very pleased with the overall performance of the products.
Suddenly without advance warning or any hints of a problem on the horizon, the iron quit working. The iron would turn on, but would only heat to a slightly warm temperature in isolated areas on the sole plate. After turning it off & unplugging it, it wouldn't heat at all. I was very frustrated by this. What frustrates me even more is that it is still under warranty, but I will have to pay for shipping both ways to receive a new iron. The estimated cost was over 1/2 the cost of the iron in the first place.
Pros: Had good steam for the 6 to 10 hours it worked. Cons: Won't heat.
I bought this iron from Target about 10 months ago. I thought I would pay extra and get a better product, was I wrong. It has been used very little (single male household).
It seems the heating element went out as the light just blinks on the lowest setting and it never gets hot. I called the service department and their recommendation was to shake it. I called back later and they told me to mail it to them and send another 10.00 to pay for return shipping. Spend $20.00 in mailing fees to get another piece of junk, I think Not.
Pros: Heavy, very hot and had a good steam feature when it worked Cons: Oozed brown goo and stopped working after 6 months
I bought this iron thinking it would last. Turns out it is just a piece of junk. It started oozing a brown liquid after the first few uses (yes I did the self-cleaning thing before first use) and ruined clothing. Then it stopped heating up all together. Don't waste your money on this piece of crap. It is completely worthless.
Pros: Great steam, takes out wrinkles like a charm. Feels weighty and solid in your hand. Cons: Very poor durability/reliability. Seems to have significant bugs or defects in internal electrical components.
This irons works great... when it works.
A friend of mine had one of these. I'd used it a few times and was very impressed with the performance so I decided to purchase. Mistake.
I've had two of these irons now. On the first the auto shut off stopped working about two months after I purchased it. Then the iron developed a short of some sort a few months later- flickers and sparks from inside it??? so I trashed it.
Assuming I'd just been unlucky and purchased a lemon I decided to buy another one. This was mistake number 2. This one the iron would just turn off in the middle of ironing, cool down and dump water all over your clothes. Finally it stopped heating all together, after plugging it in it would stay on for a second then go off. This one I had for about six months before it died.
Additionally I checked this iron out in Consumer Reports and it further substantiates the dismal reliability of this iron.
Pros: Nice looking, heavy iron with great steam output. Cons: Died in less than nine months.
The Shark iron came from Target for $49.95.
It performed well for just under nine months, then shorted
out and died. The problem appered to have been in the pivot ball where the cord enters the iron: it sparked then
lost all power.
I called the customer service number listed, explained the problem and was told to ship the iron at my expense to their Plattsburgh, NY location for evaluation. If defective
in their opinion, it would be repaired or replaced. Oh, by the way, enclose $9.95 for return shipping. And no, we can't say when (or if) you should expect your replacement.
Conclusions:
- Shark irons are junk.
- Euro-Pro customer service exists in name only.
- A no-name el-cheapo will probably outlast the Shark many
times over.
Don't buy this iron-it's a lemon. by howboy ,May 04 '06
Pros: This lousy iron made me realize the importance of buying a good iron. Cons: Probably the worst appliance I've ever bought.
Worst iron ever. Keeps tipping over when it's standing upright. constantly leaks water because temperature isn't constant, doesn't seem to get wrinkles out easily, and the outside sweats and drips on items while I'm ironing. Made ironing a shirt for work a nightmare, and took about twice as long as usual--and the result is lousy. I would never recommend this product. I'm replacing it ASAP. (The customer service stinks, too.) I can't remember making a purchase I felt so abysmally about---it's THAT bad.
Shark Iron -- auto shut off shuts off all the time by sgrowney ,Jul 30 '07
Pros: Looks Great Cons: Doesn't work
I wish I had looked at epinions before I bought this iron.
I liked the styling and I have a Shark floor steamer that works great. The auto shut off on the iron kicks in after the documented 7 minutes and no amount of "gently rocking back and forth" will turn it back on. If you unplug/plug it, it will begin to heat again and then in seconds the auto shutoff engages. Customer service wanted me to mail it in at my expense for repair. I had it only a few days. There is nothing to repair--it just doesn't work. For a new item that is not working properly I expect a timely replacement. Once I suggested to customer service that I didn't expect to pay to return an item that never worked, she put me on hold while she "checked something." No one ever came back to the call.
I will throw the iron away and NEVER buy another Shark/EuroPro product again
