Wow what a great Serger
by tifeni ,Sep 28 '04
Pros: threads easily, nice stitches, smooth sewing, good accessories, holds tensions Cons: unclear instruction manual, difficult to disengage cutter, difficult getting some parts, poor customer service
I bought this serger about 6 years ago. It is wonderful. Very easy to thread which is always a major problem. I have used all the accessory feet. All work like they are intended. I have literally gathered, applied, and overlocked over 75 feet of ruffling to a garment in less than 25 minutes on this serger. The instructions are a little difficult to understand in places, so it helps if you can take a class on serging somewhere. The rolled hem stitch is tight and smooth.
I have had the timing serviced on it 2 times. Had to change blades 2 times, but I give this machine fits, I am a professional costumer, use it everyday...so it gets used. I teach classes on various sergers, and I really like my Euro-Pro. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired, the website only deals with vacuums, and the folks on the other end of the phoneline, don't know much and are little help. I am having difficulty locating a part.

What a jewel!
by sewcrazy ,Nov 27 '07
Pros: You do not have to change the footplate to make a perfect rolled hem. Cons: No DVD - but you can buy a good one from Palmer & Pletsch, online.
If you are lucky enough to find one of these, pick it up! It is quality through and through. This is a jewel of a machine, sold in Europe as the Babylock Prestige. It creates beautiful stitches, and is very versatile; creates a lovely rolled hem; has excellent differential feed. It is an easy serger to thread - really "automatic"; the feet snap-on making it a cinch to change applications; the tension system is unique and very good, and adds to the quality of the stitch. The lighting is excellent. It is a very high-end machine that is easy for beginners to thread and use, with quality results experienced dressmakers demand. I have had one for three years, and just love it. I use it for designer wedding dresses, formals, and Christening gowns, as well as upholstery and home dec items. I am very pleased with it (and I own three sergers, two of which cost 3 - 5 times what I paid for this one.)
