This brand seems to be the best. I bought this shredder few months ago. I was very satisfied until it was dead. I found it quick, tough and very strong. It took many big jobs. It was very heavy though. After a while, paper jammed and needed to be cleared using many tools i.e. screwdriver, scissors. It is dead now. I am very disappointed as I have to buy a new one. In order to keep your shredder longer no matter what is its capacity, just use only a maximum of 2 to 3 paper sheets at a time and keep cleaning it from paper pieces each time you use it.

Pros: Reasonably priced, shreds credit cards and all kinds of paper.
Cons: Awkward to hold while dumping waste can.

This is the perfect shredder for an at-home office. It works fast, shreds many pages at once, goes through staples and many kinds of paper. It also shreds credit cards.

It is a bit top heavy which makes it awkward to hold when dumping out the waste can. It is a bit loud, but since you don't use it constantly the noise factor is minimal.

For the money, it is a good investment to insure your privacy.

Pros: Solid,Fellowes is a well known brand.
Cons: Needs a bigger basket and on this model the basket needs to slide out.

I bought this shredder 14 months ago,what good is a review when their brand new,they all seem to work fine then. So after 14 months this baby still works like new in our home office,its the best shredder I've bought at that price point--$69+ tax back then at Office Depot. It'll shread paper,staples and credit cards,no CD's

You can tell when you unpack it how heavy the shredder motor is,its not a lightweight. But..thats also a bit of a problem because you have to lift the motor off to empty the basket,they should have made a slide out on this one IMO.

It works perfect but..as with most all shredders the basket is too SMALL IMO. Honestly how much more would a basket another 6-10 inches in height and some in width add to the price? Its just a plastic bucket,I'd gladly pay a few bucks more!

Cons: Blades become dull quickly. Danger of fire.

The machine became jammed. I moved the switch back and forth, trying to unjam it and it caught fire and exploded in my face. (Yes, literally EXPLODED!) The paper in the shredder caught fire and I had to jerk the shredder off the top by the cord and smother the burning paper in the can.

Thankfully, I wear glasses, so there was no damage to my face or eyes. My hair and eyebrows were singed.

I will NEVER buy another Fellowes product of any kind again! NEVER!

Cons: The plastic stepping gear has been the weakest link on this now useless shredder.

The plastic stepping gear teeth receive the initial torque from the electric motor metal gear shaft and rotate other gears and the cutting blade assembly.. Frequent initial torque on the plastic gear over time has cause material fatigue. The plastic gear teeth have been stripped.

The motor metal shaft gear now spins on an area where plastic gear teeth once were. The cutting blade assembly cannot be engaged so it does not feed turn and cut. The motor just turns useless.

This shredder has a combination of Plastic gears and metal gears.

Pros: Good for small jobs.
Cons: Bad for large jobs. It jams constantly on me.

This machine jams constantly. I am left to cut out the stuck paper with knives and scissors. If you have large jobs to do, it is best to find a shredder made to do the job. This shredder has problems once you get to more than 6 sheets.

Cons: Terrible shredder and shred bin broke quickly.  Top heavy and hard to empty.

Does not shred anything close to 11 sheets.  Jams constantly.  I spend more time trying to unjam it than using it.  Can not do staples either.  Gets hot quickly.  Made to shred paper and can't do it.

Pros: Price only.
Cons: Mechanical reliability, a real light-weight in the quality department.

I thought that a $50 shredder would work OK but I repaired mine, and fixed paper jams, about 3 times. It is now dead. Mechanical quality is "China's Best." I do not recommend. When it was working, it would bog down with more than 3 sheets at a time.

Gets jammed even when shredding a single piece of paper can not handle credit cards and staples like it says it does. when it does jam and you move the switch from forward to backwards sparks fly.
