Pros: Makes a great-tasting pot of deliciously perked coffee. Cons: none
I don't drink coffee much and when I do it's de-caf with milk and a touch of sugar. I like to have regular coffee around though and a nice pot to make it in when company comes. To me there is nothing more homey than the aroma of freshly brewed coffee....
Pros: Nice design and features. Cons: Short life. Programming is convoluted / poor instructions. Limited warranty and no repair possible.
I started using a Farberware Percolator when my friends mother told me there is no coffee pot around that makes coffee as good as a Farberware Percolator. That was some 30 years ago. Some years ago, S.W. Farber, the original owner decided to close ...
Pros: Great Tasting Coffee Cons: A few grinds added to the blend
The way others are "wine experts", I am a "coffee expert". I love coffee! "The best part of waking up is..." describes my mornings exactly. After drinking all kinds of coffee from all kinds of machines my all time...
Pros: Durable and Easy to Use Cons: Coffee tastes metalic and is undrinkable
Farberware has a reputation for great products, so naturally, when I needed an electric coffee pot I purchased a Farberware coffee pot. However, I was terribly disappointed with this machine.
Pros: superb coffee, stainless steel, inexpensive filters Cons: a little heavy
I hadn't owned a percolator since the first Mr. Coffee came out many, many years ago. In the past 20+ years I've owned Mr. Coffee, Braun, Krups, Melitta, Bunn, and an Oster thermal unit. When my latest Bunn died, I decided to try a percolator. Some of...
Pros: makes great coffee in no time at all Cons: remember to empty the grinds before you pour any coffee
I wanted a percolator and I just had to have one. My husband could not understand what was wrong with our Mr. Coffee machine. All he kept saying was we have had this pot for years and the coffee is fine.
Pros: Quality product, convenient, nice design Cons: LCD not easy to read
I am the type of person that cannot even speak in the morning until I've had my first cup of coffee, therefore, I've always found it difficult to get up and have to MAKE that first pot. Yes, there were programmable coffee makers out there, but they were...
Pros: Fast brewing with better coffee taste than drip makers Cons: Slightly more difficult for quick use than a drip maker
Woah, the quest to find this percolator was extensive. You might consider ordering online or call first. My wife has been bugging me for a percolator like mother used to bring out for after dinner for family gatherings. I was hesitant as I'd never...
Pros: Attractive, made flavorful coffee. Automatic timer works well. Cons: Can't see the contents. Hard to use.
I bought this coffee maker because it is 12 cup, programmable and because it looked so pretty in the advertisement I saw. We use our coffee maker daily and have coffee on all day. We like 12 cups because my husband drinks coffee both before and after ...
Pros: Great tasting coffee and easy to use. Cons: none
We purchased this when our old, I mean old, Farberware pot decided to bite the dust. We love the taste of percolated coffee and decided to upgrade. This is a wonderful product. It makes delicious coffee and is easy to use. Plus there is no glass carafe ...
Pros: Great coffee every time, nothing to replace Cons: none
I have tried all the other electric coffee makers. The Farberware Stainless steel 12 cup electric percolator, beats them all hands down. It is a great cup of percolated coffee. This pot makes 12 cups in 12 minutes, of great coffee.
Pros: programmable, capacity, ease of use Cons: not very attractive
I have used Farberware coffee pots for over 20 years. I have tried numerous other coffee makers, but always go back to Farberware. What is so great about this pot is that it can be programmed ahead of time and you can wake up to the smell of fresh...
Pros: quality finish, clock and timer, cordless Cons: spring inside is small and could get lost.
My first coffee maker was a Farberware Percolator. I used it for 20 years before I dropped it on the floor and broke the base, and then continued to use it for another year. I felt it was time to put it in the yard sale and get another. ...
Pros: Great classic looks , Percolator flavor, durably constructed,
very easy to use, needs no filters. Cons: Needs to include a longer cord. Should use a clear acryllic top for fascination effect.
When I was very young, my grandmother used an aluminum stove-top percolator. It had the clear top, so you could see the coffee perking in it, which was always fascinating, and I heard the same nostalgia and fascination repeated by others with similar...
Pros: The coffee it makes tastes good! Cons: Will eventually stop working!
The plastic knob has broken off due to corrosion from the coffee. And after ~2 years, it has completely stopped working! First, it will stop heating the coffee for the "two hour" warming period. Then, when you press "On" it will show that it is...
Pros: Makes a great cup of hot coffee. Cons: Stopped working after about 6 months!
This is the perfect coffee machine. It's a great design. Simple to run but sophisticated enough to brew coffee when you want it and keep it hot. The only problem is that after about six months, it just stopped working. The base it sits on has an...
When the 30 year old percolator that my wife & I inherited from my parents died, my wife & I decided to buy a percolator with a timer. Unfortunately, the only one available was this Farberware model. In its short life-span (2 years!), it made good...
Pros: Timer, Clock, Style Cons: No On or Off, Relying on Symbols
Well, I just bought this exact machine. The only problem I have is the digital readout. On a scale of 1-10, I give this damn coffee percolator an 8. My only problem with this machine is that I cannot see whether or not it is off or on. As far as the...
Pros: Coffee taste better, stays always hot Cons: Never you know if it works or not
I got the percolator 4-12 cups with timer christmas 99. I started using it January 2000. The coffee tasted sooo much better than a normal coffee maker and it stayed always hot. I was really surprised how it works and loved my percolator. After one month...
Pros: Worked well in the beginning and brewed a great cup of coffee. Cons: Did not last more than six months. Disappointed in shelf life.
I received a Farberware percolator as a Christmas gift. I was working very well for the first six months. Never a problem except for a few grinds in the bottom of the pot which was not a bother. However, a few weeks ago I noticed that the coffee was ...
Pros: None Cons: coffee is warm and watery, and buttons crack.
I bought one and returned it because the buttons cracked, the coffee didn't perk thoroughly, coffee got trapped in the plastic knob atop the lid, and it was never hot. Eventually, they sent me a brand new one, since the first was still under warranty. BUT, now I am having the exact same problems with this new one. The buttons cracked, and the coffee is not coffee, but coffee water by the time it's supposedly done perking. I do not recommend buying this one!
Pros: makes good coffee Cons: see-through plastic nob breaks off eventually
I've had two of these, the first one broke and I got rid of it. I bought it again, because I thought it was a fluke, and less than a year later, the plastic nob at the top which is see-through broke off again. They sent me a nob to replace it. Now, a year later, it has broken off again. It's just this one part on the percolator that keeps breaking. I can't recommend it because of this. I recommend, that instead, buy the regular corded Farberware percolator, which my mom has had her original for over 30 years.
Pros: Great concept, great coffee Cons: Poor engineering and attitude
After initial break-in period, the coffee was WONDERFUL ! Not user friendly to program. Buttons on base began to crack after 4 months. A couple of months out of warranty, it began to short-cycle the percolate cycle and the coffee was luke-warm. Called company to see if we could get it fixed and were told that we were out of luck. This could have been a great product if Faberware had made some minor changes in the construction and some major changes in ATTITUDE !
Great Coffee but the plastic percolator indicator breaks by r_ekiss ,Nov 23 '04
Pros: Makes excellent coffee. Cons: Plastic percolator indicator at top of percolator broke. It should be made of glass.
Beware! The plastic percolator indicator at the top of the broke while I was removing the top. It should be made of glass instead of plastic.
This percolator makes an excellent cup of coffee! If you use drip grind, grounds will get though the basket and I would recommend using a filter to prevent that.
I bought this coffee pot because for durability and ease of use. From the beginning I thought the programming function was confusing and the lack of an on light bizarre. Now a little after a year, it stopped working.....
Pros: looks great , make good coffee Cons: doesn't last long, had two in the last two years, both just stopped working
Always heard Farberware make the best coffee , and it does when they work. We have had two in the past two years. Both just quit working. Turn it on in the morning and nothing. Price is just too high to keep replacing them.
We bought an old electric percolator and absolutely loved the coffee it made. Unfortuantely, by paulette0343 ,Apr 21 '04
Pros: Very sturdy / extremely quick Makes great coffee whether you make 6 cups or 12 Cons: Hard to program until you do it a few times.
We bought an old electric percolator and absolutely loved the taste of perked coffee. Unfortunately, a part broke and we had to find another pot. I did a lot of research online and decided to purchase the Faberware Programable Percolator. The first few pots we perked were not that great but like all things I guess we had to "break it in". We absolutely LOVE the coffee it makes. We grind our own beans and use a filter. The coffee is perfect.
Pros: *Excellent* coffee. No plastic! No aluminum! Cons: Display could be better. Pot a bit heavy. Both very minor complaints.
We purchased this percolator after trying 3 brands of drip coffeemakers. We checked with the mfr and the entire pot is stainless steel, with no aluminum or plastic. This percolator makes the best coffee I've had at home in many, many years.
Stay away from the cheap plastics and go back to what coffee is supposed to taste like! This percolator makes coffee faster than any drip machine we've ever had, and it's quieter, too. It has a much smaller footprint and looks good on the counter.
I wish I'd been using percolators all along. How did we all get so Madison-Avenue-brainwashed into thinking drip machines were better?
Run, don't walk, to your nearest store and get this one. I can't recommend it highly enough.
The only cons are that the buttons for the timer and clock are small and the screen is hard to see if you're at all bleary-eyed in the morning. The pot is a bit heavy, but it's worth it for the phenomenal coffee.
Farberware customer service was very quick in responding to our questions about this product and gave us prompt, accurate information.
loved the coffee but I bought one and it broke in 1 year. Bought a second and that one broke in a few months (wouldnt stay hot) also the knob on top broke. I now use a plug in timer connected to a non-programable pot.
Pros: Hot coffee. Fast brewing. Programmable feature a plus. Cons: NO "ON" INDICATOR LIGHT - POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD.
Nice looking percolator. I am using Maxwell House Original in the blue can and have no grinds in our cups of coffee. I do find however, a little fine sediment on the bottom of the pot when cleaning. I do not use filters.
Coffee perks at 1 cup per minute.
Coffee tastes great if you're making 12 cups or just 2.
No problem with timer when used.
Coffee maker needs an "ON" indicator light.
My husband picked up the coffee maker not realizing it contained a freshly brewed pot of coffee. The pot and coffee are extremely hot.
The omission of this feature is a terrible safety hazard.
Pros: Looks good and works great for a short time. Cons: Both coffee pots died in about one year from purchase. Customer service is non-existent.
We purchased this product as well as another one as a gift.
The Farberware name was a big buying point for us. It used to mean quality. Both coffee pots quit within a year.
The base whistles when it is plugged in. Customer service
is non-existent. The Farberware name is no longer popular
with us when buying appliances.
The Quality Isn't There by dobies_rule ,Oct 07 '06
Pros: Reasonably good coffee (although a filter is necessary) Cons: Cracked buttons, broken plastic knob, hard to read display.
Wanting a programmable percolator, I decided on this model. It makes reasonably good coffee but does require a filter--otherwise you get grounds in your teeth. Ugh!
As others have mentioned, the buttons cracked in just a few months. Recently the plastic knob on top broke (just out of warranty, of course) and I agree with another reviewer that it definitely needs to be glass, not plastic.
My other criticism involves the hard-to-read display.
Overall, the percolator is a big (and expensive) disappointment and I don't recommend it. My last one lasted nearly 30 years, this one broke in just over a year.
