Pros: Many different action-oriented suggestions to choose from
Cons: If you dislike self-assessment, this may be a tough read

Summary: David D. Burns is a genius and a life-saver. After a dear friend of mine killed herself, I found myself even further than ever into what seemed like a neverending depression. A friend gave me this book and I can't even begin to express how reading it ... read more

Pros: Dr. Burns suggests many different ways to help yourself.
Cons: If you aren't ready to help yourself this is a hard book to read.

    Pros: A self-help book that isn't psychobabble
Cons: At times, a little too comprehensive

Summary: Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy has done more for me than seven years of therapy and regimens of all of the medications currently on the market for mood disorders. It shows the reader alternatives to what so many providers prescribe for their ... read more

    Jul 26, 2000
    Pros: Organized, Informative
    Cons: A little outdated

Summary: This book was very helpful to me and others I know who have suffered from depression and/or anxiety. The content seems to be common sense much of the time, but it is written in a very easy to read manner. It is very organized and helps clear your ... read more

  • Long Term Relief

Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Apr 14, 2000
Pros: good short term therapy tool, highly effective and easily understood
Cons: seems too simple, many do not follow through because it looks to simple to work

Summary: This Book and the workbook He also wrote ended up having more impact than 2 years of therapy with my previous therapist!! The ideas are deceptively simple, reading flows, but are really effective in helping depression and negative thinking. This author ... read more
