~~ HE'S A JOLLY GOOD FELLOWES POWERSHRED P-57CS SHREDDER ~~

by kbolton72 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Dec 18 '07
Pros: Security risk is low, junk mail pile low...
Cons: Sharp blades
I have this little habit of throwing my junk mail in with my personal mail when opening it up in the car or bringing it in the house...who has time to sort through all of that? I have been guilty of either having papers that are garbage mixed in, or ...

I LOVE this paper eater

by opinionateed , Apr 21 '07
Pros: FAR better than most shredders in same price range.
Cons: I can find none.
I didn't really NEED a shredder. I thought the whole "identity theft" thing was way overblown. But, I WANTED one. Originally I bought, upon impulse, a Royal 1280 MX. (Review of same posted here.) That non-working piece of junk was returned. ...

Nice junk shredder for the family

by reachsubs , Mar 06 '07
Pros: Shreds credit card, staples easily, sleek design and easily liftable top, good performance.
Cons: So far found none!
Bought as family gift for Christmas. My old line shredder was getting heated within cutting 20 papers and paper always got stuck. So got a new, sleek one. This light confetti cut shredder cuts all the unwanted credit card applications in a jiffy. There ...

Piece of Junk
by bosco623 ,Jan 07 '08
Pros: Non
Cons: Jams
I've been picking pieces of jammed paper out of the shredder with a tweezer for the last three days hoping to get this thing working again. I'm thinking it's hopeless.

I've been careful not to exceed the shredder's sheet limit so as to avoid jams. It didn't seem to matter. It still jammed. The shredder is less than 4 months old, but because I didn't save the box or the receipt I can't return it, nor prove that it is under warranty.

Best Personal Shredder
by mwilg ,Aug 08 '09
Pros: Durability, Capacity, Cross-cut
Cons: None, after a year of ownership
I've owned a couple of shredders, but this is by far the best! It's robust, doesn't jam and has lots of bin capacity. A good price, particularly given that it also does cross-cut and has a good auto-shutoff feature if your hand even just gets close to the apeture. My usage is approx low to medium, and I generally shred papers and credit cards.

Great Performance!
by webgarv ,Aug 10 '07
Pros: Produces moderate, Security 2 confetti. Shreds credit cards and staples.
Cons: Is cumbersome, lacks a handle to easily move it from one place to another.
This is my very first paper shredder and for the price I paid ($44.99) it's a terrific deal. It shreds cross-cut to produce grade 2 security confetti, a level of security which exceeds my needs. Machine stops when fingers touch the feeder--an awesome safety feature. The 'reverse' function unjams stuff beautifully. I welcome the noise since it gives me good feedback on the operation of the machine, which I oil regularly as recommended to keep it in great shape. This excellent machine did shred a thick 8 sheets of paper as claimed by the manufacturer (albeit with effort), so I give it a nice 4-star.

They Call Me "9 finger Frank"...
by atticus_finch ,Jul 08 '07
Pros: Power like none else..
Cons: Occasionally, it grows tired of paper and craves flesh
I've had my share of run-in's with shredders in my days, I'm not going to lie. But the Fellowes Manufacturing Poweshred® P-57Cs Shredder was BY FAR the sharpest, and deadliest..

It was the third thursday of the month, and I arose early, for today was shredding day. I recently purchased this very shredder and was eager to fire it up. As I pushed on, to my second stack of bills, credit cards, CD's, etc, I got the need for speed and turned the paper eating monster up five fold. This extravaganza did not last more than a minute before there was a sudden jam in the machine...As i peered into the basket of torn up bills, credit cards, CD's, etc, i noticed a loose Phalange that shouldn't be commonly found in a shredder.

The kids at school were relentless...

F***ing piece of junk
by mrduck ,Sep 09 '08
Pros: Not much to add.
Cons: Easy to jam. Gets worse after every shred.
The shredder is totally useless after six months. I have NOT even been putting in multiple sheets of paper, it's been permanently slow in shredding, easy to jam, getting progressively worse. Now I can only shred five pieces of paper in total before the jam/overheat sensors kill the power to the shredder.
