Pros: 9.9% APR with the Gold MasterCard Cons: Frivolous, exorbitantly high FEES
I received a mailing today that curiously looked like a Federal Express envelope. It was 8 inches tall and 11 inches wide, and on one side it said "Express Delivery - official documents enclosed". It looked incredibly official. So I opened it up, and...
Pros: A low apr Cons: Fee number 1 and 2 and 3 and don't forget about 4.
I think most people have had the pleasure of receiving one of many I am sure offers from "First Premier Bank". They try to entice you with a low 9.9% apr, yes that is a nice rate for someone that is either rebuilding or just starting out in the credit ...
Pros: Its pretty and you can say I have a card (but do you?) Cons: I think the place is run by them or at least ex-cons
I had been shopping for credit early in my rebuilding process and received an offer from this bank. After all the fees, participation, annual, setup, I didn't need to read any further to know that this one needed to go straight to the circular file. ...
Pros: none, none, none Cons: Fees, fees, fees, joke of a credit limit. RIP OFF.
I had some financial problems a few years ago and this card was one of the few that offered a non-secure type. They state the credit limits are from $250-1000 and suprise, suprise i got 250. What a mistake!!!! They actually advertise this card as a ...
Pros: "Helps" rebuild credit for those with slow credit Cons: FEES UP THE YING YANG! Unscrupulous collection calls if ONE day late. Horrible Customer Service.
Back in 2001 I was ill and forced to file bankruptcy. In 2002 I received an offer from First Premier Bank for a credit card to help rebuild my credit. I was a sucker and accepted the card knowing I was paying $178 in fees to just to start using the card! ...
Pros: Credit for those credit challanged Cons: Slightly higher fees than first tier creditors.
I have less than perfect credit even after years of attempting to rebuild it something always seems to come along and booger it up. So when I got this card offer in the mail I checked it out in detail. Yes the fees are a bit higher than first tier creditors and yes you do get charged a set up fee for using the internet service (ONCE). But other than that so far it's been better than a lot of other offers I've received in the mail. Not only did I get a higher credit limit with FPB than with other banks offering me 'reestablishment' programs their customer service has been nothing but nice when I've had questions. I'm hoping that by paying well over the minimum monthly fee, it won't be long before I'll be able to get one of those 'first tier' credit cards that don't charge as many fees. However if you've had credit problems or are just starting out, this doesn't seem like a HORRIBLE way to get re-established/or established.
Pros: None. 9.9% APR is the lead but they'll get it back & More. Cons: I agree with calling them Loan Sharks. VERY EXPENSIVE MONEY. DON'T GET THIS CARD.
Just read the first review and I totally concur that the First Premier Unsecured Credit card is full of charges. $178 has been charged to my account already and it just came in the mail! They even charge when they increase your credit limit ~ and we're not talking small fees, in this case it's $25. THEY CHARGE FOR EVERY POSSIBLE THING, including accessing your account; $3.95 and a Program fee for extending you credit, $95. Then there's a $6 monthly Participation fee for having credit with them, a $3 monthly Maintenance fee, a $48 Yearly fee and that's just half the page!!! And not to mention their Auto draft, Express delivery(who asked for this?), Return item, Set up, Cash advance, and Additional card Fees. The whole back page of their information is nothing but fees they fondly call FINANCE CHARGES. Don't get this card. I'm calling now to cancel and if there's a problem with that they can answer to the SEC.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE, BUT FIRST HIDE YOUR WALLET by barbannie ,May 06 '08
Pros: None Cons: You'd do better borrowing from the mob.
I too briefly considered this credit card as I am rebuilding my credit rating after a bout with unemployment and an outrageously expensive divorce. However, the fees tacked on fees tacked on fees (plus a monthly fee of $7 just for keeping the card) made me pass this one by. I'm trying to rebuild not dig myself into a hole. I spoke with a lawyer friend who said if I activated the card and paid off the initial set-up fees, I would still run a balance every single month the card was in my possession even if I never bought anything simply due to the monthly charge fee. The balance of course would have interest on it too. NO ONE should ever succumb to this kind of ploy....do without for a while, or if you've got a few bucks, get a secured credit card. After you've paid on time for about a year, many companies will refund you your deposit plus the interest it earned and voila....reestablished credit. Good luck.
It's a good card, and value by neelix63 ,Mar 17 '07
Pros: Low interest Cons: Fees
I ran into some financial problems, and my credit was damaged. I could not get a major credit card, until First Premier Bank gave me one. The low interest was great, which kind of offset the $172 first year fees. They only charge those fees once, so once you pay them off, they're done. I was offered a second card about a year later, same fees, but I accepted it. I know now that First Premier Bank has enabled me to get other credit, so I'm truly greatful to them. The customer service reps are excellent, I would recommend this card to anyone needing to re establish their credit. GW
Run far far away from this card. by Sllinnks ,Jan 28 '04
Pros: Nothing. There are better cards to re-establish you cards with. Cons: If it had legs, it would look for change in your couch.
I got this card about three years ago to reestablish my credit. In that regard, it has served it purpose since I had a running balance and have since paid it off. Other than THAT, this is quit possibly the worst credit card I have ever seen or heard of.
There are fees for everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. Im actually starting to wonder if they are charging their employees to using their bathrooms and breathing their air. Seriously, what is a "Participation Fee" Participating in what? Isnt that what an annual fee is for.
They also charge you to Log onto their website, AND tack on $11 buck to pay your bill EVERY time you use it.
In short. Don't give these people any money if you dont have to.
Pros: There are no pros about this card! Please save your self a bunch money. Cons: This card will soak you for every dime you have. They are deceitful mean spirited!
this is not the card you want if you are trying to rebuild your credit rating or just to have one for emergency use. it is the biggest rip off of any credit card I have ever had! They have a fee for everything, even checking your account on line, one for making payments on-line, for statements they say they send but don't. I lost my card over three months ago and have called and written several times and received no response at all. Today I called and they have no report of the card being lost! To find out if anyone has used it I Have to pay for statements or any information that may help me! Danielle I talked to was pitiful! No help at all and arrogant. The annual fee put me over limit and I was charged an over the limit fee plus a late fee for over the limit because it was in between statements. You can find many cards better as I have so don't fall for this one please or you will be in worst shape than before!!!!
Pros: Low interest rate. Credit card for people with poor credit. On-line account checking. Cons: Fees for everything. High activation fee. Monthly $6.00 fee. Low credit card credit amount.
I needed a card to pay an unexpected school bill. I went through one of the "lending tree " type sites and Premier had the best options, so I thought. The low interest rate is good. I accepted the card but when I read the disclosures I received in the mail I was horrified by all of the fees they charge. The card should be called Premier Fee Card. I understand that it's for people with poor credit but there are other companies moderately higher interest rates but they don't charge you a fee for everything.
Just got my FPB Credit Card!!! by bb2003md ,Apr 16 '07
Pros: WONDERFUL APR 9.9%, unheard of for poor credit scores! Cons: None
I just applied for this credit card at the beginning of April 2007 and am already happy with how things are handled. A comment to those that complained about the fees, if your credit is in such bad shape you should be thanking FPB for issuing an unsecured credit card to you. Trying to rebuild your credit is very difficult and FPB as well as Orchard Bank help you do that, even if your credit score is 350 (for those that don't know, that is the lowest number). I will continue to use this card and will accept any fees that they will impose for credit limit increases. I spoke to an awesome Customer Service person the other day and they treated me like an individual, instead of how other credit card companies will treat you. They go out of their way to give you credit with such high risk, honestly I expected to have to pay all of the $172.00 in fees before I could even use it.
