Pros: easy set-up, all-in-one unit with audio and video Cons: poor audio & video quality; songs limited to top 40
My soon-to-be-four-year-old son Buster is a born performer, fond of singing and dancing any chance he gets. In an effort to curtail his "spank your butty" dance (which looks EXACTLY as you imagine it), we got him the Fisher-Price StarStation ...
Pros: Wireless control, loads of fun - works great at birthday parties! Cons: No AC adapter, poor video, even poorer audio.
We obtained the Fisher-Price StarStation Entertainment System as a gift for my six year old daughters birthday party. We had known about this toy for a month or so as it was on display at our local Wal-Mart. In the store it looked amazing and the kids ...
Pros: Wireless microphone works great, video is pretty good. Cons: Audio song level and voice/music mixing is very poor. No AC adapter available.
Why Bought: Grandma purchased this for our kids for Christmas. She got it at Toys R Us. The Good: The video is pretty good for a ~$50 device. It is a bit fuzzy and requires a well-lighted room, but serves the purpose of letting your kids see ...
Pros: My 2 year old likes it. It's a nifty concept. Cons: I hate it. Outkast's "Hey-Ya" is unsuitable for children. Cheap camera. Too many batteries.
My mom got this for my son. I'll admit, it's a nifty concept. When I was a kid, I used to love walking past the camcorder section in stores and seeing myself on TV. That being said, I think the execution was rather poor, especially for a Fisher ...
Pros: Children love it, sing, dance, enjoy the heck out of it. Cons: No AC adapter, poor sound/video quality, ABSOLUTELY NOT APPROPRIATE music that comes with the StarStation.
This product really has me torn. One the one hand, my children ADORE this toy. The play for hours in front of it, posing for the camera, singing along, dancing around, acting like goof balls, just having a grand old time. SCORE there. One the other ...
Pros: Great idea - kids love seeing themselves on TV; choice of camera lenses. Cons: The picture quality was not clear as seen on the box. Yuk songs.
The StarStation was given to my 2 year old, because he always liked to dance and watch himself dancing in front of the switched off TV screen. At first I thought it seemed like a perfect gift for him, but after getting it all set up it turned out not so ...
Pros: None. Absolutely none. Cons: Music not appropriate. Poor video. Poor Sound.
I expect better from Fisher Price. The sound is poor. Video is poor. Construction is poor. There is nothing good about it. Shame on Fisher Price. The song selections are not appropriate for small children.
Pros: NOT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cons: Fisher Price Star Station
My mother bought my 3 year old this item for Christmas. She doesn't have much money but went out of her way to find this for my son. It is junk. Need I say more. Microphone is only usable if placed in back of throat to amplify vocals. The camera quality is near that of wearing shattered eyeglasses, not much use. Nothing but a complete waste of money and time, and even worse is that the box went into the trash and to the landfill before I could check it out. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO MY WORST ENEMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
False Advertising - Garbage by lanceegreen ,May 24 '06
Pros: Sparkly box and cute pictures of smiling kids on the package. Cons: The box lies. Terrible video, audio, battery consumption, quality, everything.
We have 4 children and we have never made such a disappointing purchase. There are no positives. Here are the negatives:
Terrible video, just terrible. It looked black and white and extremely fuzzy.
Weak audio - both sound volume and quality.
Requires 3 AA batteries for the wireless mic & 6 C batteries for the main unit. An AC adapter is not an option.
Whoever created the box this item came in should be arrested for false advertising. The video images look perfect, bright and colorful.
Incredibly cheap. Not worth $5, much less $60! It is being returned and our kids won't even miss it.
Save your money. Your kids will enjoy a Happy Meal toy much more and they are much better quality than this piece of garbage.
You are better off with a web cam on your PC by mrric ,Dec 31 '05
Pros: Ease of set up and the instant gratification of kids seeing themselves on TV Cons: No AC Adapter, poor Audio and Video quality, song selection for 7+ years
Star Station?
Okay your child can see themselves on the television but in today's advanced technological world of web cams and video recorders this machine is way behind.
The box says that kids can see themselves on the tv, true.
The box says its for 3 , I question that based on the song selection on the ROM cards which is primarily top 40.
The product development people should have spent their money putting childrens songs on the ROM cards instead.
You decide, a song from Don Juan DeMarco or The Farmer in the Dell?
My 2-1/2 year old daughter thought seeing herself on the TV was cool but beyond that the poor sound and video quality made me jump off the couch and write this review before anyone else made the mistake of buying this for their kids below the age of 7.
Fisher Price if you are listening... This would have been much better if the words to the songs ran across the bottom of the TV like Karaoke.
Pros: easy set up Cons: video and sound quality very poor
If this product worked at home as well as it did at the store it would have been great. It has very poor video and the sound isn't the greatest. It will be packaged up and returned to the store. More development needed by Fisher-Price on this item.
