Pros: Incredibly easy to use, many features & settings, VERY water efficient. Cons: What cons?
Sounds melodramatic, right? Read on... I discovered the Fisher & Paykel IWL12 Intuitive Eco washer while on a search to replace my beastly old Amana machine. I thought about front-loaders, but have heard about a lot of mold problems. I went looking ...
Pros: Efficient, high capacity, smooth operation, intuitive controls, good cleaning, warranty, fair value, compactness Cons: Autowash may be hard on clothes; ?reliability of electronics. Aesthetically challenged.
Yesterday we took delivery of our new Fisher and Paykel IWL12 washer. Our Maytag Neptune is gone, and good riddance! After it blew another circuit board I pounced on the opportunity to buy one of these fascinating machines on clearance at Lowes. in the ...
Pros: Appears to be well made Cons: Bad software on CD-ROM; awkward bleach handling
Like others here at epinions, I did a lot of research. My first inclination was to buy a GE Duet. A friend of mine has one and is very happy with it. The Duet is a front-load washer/dryer with a very rugged and industrial look. In terms of style, ...
Pros: Huge wash capacity, custom wash features, very user friendly, fantastic cleaning power Cons: Can be a little noisy in spin cycle, detergent loading takes an extra step
Where to begin singing the praises for this machine....Bought a Maytag Neptune Top Loader, the kind with no agitator, and in just five months it ruined $300 worth of clothing and needed $500 worth of repairs, so I argued with Sears to take it back and, ...
Pros: Washes well, fast spin, affordable price, fits anywhere Cons: exterior looks cheap, top is curved, can't use as workspace
I've been using the IWL12 for about a week and it's very impressive. The drum is suspended on springs which makes for a very quiet operation. It holds a very large load and allows you to customize your settings to do almost anything you want. It takes a ...
Pros: Lighter and smaller than most washers - easy to set up/operate, minimal moving parts. Cons: Can't stack.
Just purchased F&P IWL12 2 days ago to replace broken Maytag - overall very satisfied. Did tons of research to select new washer and was looking for something that was easy to use yet had sufficient cleaning options and verified good performance. ...
Great Performer new - Protracted early Death by irloyal ,Feb 26 '09
Pros: Performs like a high end front loader Low energy use Low water use Cons: Short useful life EXPENSIVE Needed repairs early and often HUGELY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR!!!!
We loved this machine when we first bought it in 2006. Lots of features: Several options on fill temperatures Several options on load size Several options for delicate, silks, heavy wash etc... Great Energy Saver - Low water usage; Clothes almost dry after spin
After about 18 months the trouble started 1 - Ate socks and small items every so oftern and plugged the drain cycle (manufacturer claimed this would not happen). OK, it was easy to fix, drop the drain motor after emptying most of the water. Remove the offending sock, color catcher, handkerchief... Re-install motor and away you go. Did this about 4 times then.... 2 - MAJOR PROBLEM - Dryer won't spin about 4 days after the 5th plugged drain cycle repair. So, call the repair dude. The problems: 1 - Control Logic Board - crapped out; $350 2 - Spin motor - noisy bearings, stiff spin - $100 3 - 2 hrs labor - $140 Total cost $590!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Geez, I spent $650 delivery for the washer, now it was gonna cost $600 to repair it after 3 years?!?!?! I don' think so.
FWIW - I read a few complaints similar to this when I reviewed it before we bought it. I thought they were just bad luck stories.
Pros: Water-Saver, Specific Settings, Less dryer usage from clothes being spun nearly dry.Easy walk-through instructions Cons: No separate fabric softener or bleach compartments. Detergent put through middle of agitator;minor inconvenience
Just purchased the Intuitive Eco IWL12 and am very impressed with how well the washer cleaned the clothes. Our last washer (Calypso- DO NOT BUY ONE!)not only broke down 5 times in 2 years, but the clothes never seemed to be very clean and did not wash out stains very well.
In contrast, the F&P machine washes out every little bit of stain(took out catsup and mustard from cotton t-shirt)and the clothes even SMELL clean!
The Eco is also very easy to program and use. It might look intimidating to see all of the options but reading the user guide is easy and walks you through everything. I especially like that it has a Beach Gear setting. We go to the beach often during the summer and this option will come in handy. I will give an update when I have had a chance
to use the various settings and used the washer for a while.
Oh my god this thing SUCKS!!! by dx_suck_it90 ,Aug 13 '06
Pros: Lasts for a little while washes clothes very good does almost everything right Cons: it brakes down a lot
This thing is pretty bad. I mean it washes our clothes great, but it already broke down 3 times within the 4 years we had it. I first broke down after 1 year because they built the motherboard next to the pipe in it and the thing leaked whcih fried the mobo(happened twice). The pad wears out easily within a year and a half so we have to replace that at least twice. Right now it stops at the rinse cycle, then it doesnt drian the water and then it just shuts OFF!! God we sank more money into this thing than it was worth we are going to get an american made washer like kitchenaid whirlpool or maytag because the new zeland foriegn piece of crap SUCKS!!!
Best Top load washer bar none by rviradia ,Jan 23 '06
Pros: quiet, looks good, fast spin, easy load Cons: none so far
This is the best Top load washer bar none, you can barely tell the think is running during the wash cycle, there is no hum like all other washers. I did hours of research and am glad I went with this, At first I almost went with the top of line LG front loader but am glad I didn't because everyone here complained of very bad vibration if not placed on a concrete slab (mine is on the 2nd floor and you can barely hear it), and the 10K rpm spin nearly dries clothes before they go to my matching DEGX1 top load dryer (see review), got mine from Lowes.
