Pros: Energy Star saving both electricity and water. Burst proof hoses included. Space saving cabinet. Cons: Parts availability. (not yet needed, but hard to find on-line)
Fisher and Paykel is not widely known or available in the US, but it is generally available at the Lowe's warehouse stores. At first my wife did not want the washer with the odd name and nearly as odd looks. But I was sold on the efficiency ratings, ...
Pros: Energy efficient, water efficient and great at getting your clothes clean! Cons: I've heard parts are hard to get hold of
I love my Fisher and Paykel washing machine, but then I'm probably biased as it's the type I grew up with (being that I'm from NZ originally). I love the fact that it is so energy and water efficient! We use cloth diapers, and the time had long come ...
Pros: Uses only 7 amps, solar compatible. Direct drive motor, efficient. Makes cute beeping like R2D2. Cons: None so far. But will report any I find.
I bought my fisher and paykel back in early September 08. We run our home off a propane generator and a solar system. I always had to do laundry with the generator. Now I don't, The FP is one of the only HE washers that will operate off ...
Pros: Good when it works Cons: Near impossible to get serviced
I bought this machine October 1, 2006 and it died on me today 7 short months later. The tub inside is tilted to one corner and is unusable. That's not even the worst part! Quite the story in just trying to get this thing serviced. I first called ...
Pros: Great machine all around, uses much less water & electric, compact and light-weight! Cons: Can no longer use the washer to felt projects, No other complaints about this item!
Must say this little machine has really impressed me! We purchased this unit awhile back, when I blew the transmission seal out of our newer Maytag. Being the third washer to meet it's fate at my hands in a period of 5 years, we decided to give something ...
Pros: Water saving and saves time on drying. Cleans clothes very well. Works as advertised. Cons: Reliability. Look to be buying another washer in 2 years.
I bought a Fisher Paykel 2 and 1/2 years ago. It turned out to be easy to use and most of all, really effecient. It cleaned clothes well and saves on water as advertised. The spin cycle is just as good as front loaders since it's got a high rpm spin. ...
Pros: Very efficient, relatively quiet, high capacity, multiple settings, doesn't take up a lot of space Cons: Very basic appearance
We were looking for a lot more capacity than our old Whirlpool gave us. Although the Whirlpool was a workhorse that gave us many years of good use (and still works very well), it simply did not have enough capacity for my family of five. In addition ...
Pros: Many features, physically light, MANY FEATURES!! Cons: Potential Lifespan Issues, not much else negative to say
Well, our 20 year old washer died and we went over to Lowes to see what was out there. We found the Intuitive sitting next to a front loader Whirlpool.. Anyway, we don't have the room for front loaders in our laundry room, so it ruled out the better ...
Pros: LONG WARRANTY Tons of cycles time set traditional vs eco wash ease of use water temps Cons: Parts hard to get, cost can be prohibitive limited repair people (manufactured of New Zealand)
I have this machine, and everyone told me I would love it. I bought the set. Within the first year the pump broke, and the biggest problem is that all the parts have to be shipped to you. I am so glad I got the extended warranty. I just recieved a gift card as the buttons on the top broke and the company doesnt make them any more so of course, it has to be replaced. I am kinda upset about this. I really did like this machine. It had tons of cycles, you could set it to start when it suited your needs, change the heat of the water, the cycle you started on, it has a memory so you could have it save your favorite and just run it all the time, ours was warm wash, cold rinse, 2 rinse cycles(the last being a softner rinse) the super fast spin, and med stain. I am hoping there is a new fischer and Paykel. I love my dryer, and hope to get a matched pair again.
Pros: Easy to use and Smart Drive was an excellent feature. Cons: Parts are hard to get and often on back order.
I bought this washer in August of 2006. I have not had a problem with it until recently. I went to wash clothes and found the washer would not do anything. I first thought it was the display board and ordered a new one. The board arrived in a timely manner and I changed it. This did not solve the problem. I ordered a master control board and found it was on back order. I finally received the board today after a month of waiting. I replaced the board and the machine started to work. I thought that took care of the problem. The machine filled with water and quit again and will not do anything. I have found the repairman do not know how to work on these machines as I have had two service techs for my dryer with the problem still not fixed. I have also found customer service at Fisher and Paykel is not helpful and the parts are difficult to get in a timely manner. I will never buy a Fisher and Paykel again. I am off to buy a new washer.
Unreliable--failed twice in less than 4 years by portert0224 ,Aug 10 '08
Pros: High RPM spin cycle nearly dried the clothes for your. Cons: Unreliable. Long repair time. Repair parts not readily available. High cost to repair ratio.
Failed to drain twice in 3 1/2 years. It took over 3 weeks to get it fixed the first time it failed. Repairman did not have the repair parts (not a common model) and then parts were not readily available.
Second failure occured last week. Called the repair hotline and nobody has returned our call.
We are going to replace this washer with a $320 Roper, which is half the price of this washer, and the Roper has the highest reliability rating as per Consumer Report (6% failure rate vs. 13% failure rate of the Fisher-Pakayl). If I get 4 years out of the Roper, that is a lot better than buying another Fisher-Pakyal for twice the price and having it fail in half the time.
Don't waste your money or your time! by wanabefair ,Jul 07 '08
Pros: large capacity.automatic water adjust saves on water Cons: rough on clothes, expense, lint collect clogs the drain pump.Inside tub retains sour water
We needed a large washer,we spent a lot of time in research. We thought we'd found a real gem. WRONG... Within six months we had multiple issues with(too many suds). It doesn't indicate in our manual that you must use an H.E. detergent. Well, you'll wish you did. Then we had several issues with the drain pump getting blocked. The inside tub was retaining water inside of it . Producing a nasty sour smell. It later developed a "God Awful Odor' THAT WE COULD NOT GET RID OF. Thus , made our house Stink every single day. We found this machine does typically spins out most of the water from clothing ,at the cost of being RoUgH on your clothes. Repairs were needed within six months,1 year & 1 1/2 years. We found that the warranty is really just useless in most cases. We're still paying for it & now a new front loader.Don't waste your time or money on this expensive product!
Pros: high speed dry - double edged sword- probably the reason the springs are shot. Cons: broken after one year
Same problem as mentioned by another reviewer. The tub went on TILT, broken to the point that it couldn't even finish the wash cycle. Had it serviced but that didn't fix it. WE have call #2 in for service. If this doesn't do it, we are going to trash it and get something else.
pump drain is a problem by internoscia ,Jul 09 '09
Pros: Great spin cycle Cons: parts not in stock poor customer service
Please consider a machine that doesn't break down within the first six months of ownership, parts that are in stock and not on backorder for a month and better customer service. Do your research! Other websites have reviews of owners with this machine saying the exact same thing. Don't waste your time! Look at another machine!
Don Not Buy Fisher & Paykel IWL16 by texas2xs ,Jul 16 '09
Pros: NONE!!!! Cons: Broken most of the time. Runs forever.....Eco friendly? NO!
Purchased Fisher & Paykel washing machine model IWL16 in December 2007. In June 2008, the unit would not drain. Called warranty service provider and the soonest they could come was in 7 days. Servicer stated that a control board was bad a well as the drain pump. Another week goes by and the servicer returned with parts. In November 2008, unit begins to bang very loudly and is unusable. Scheduled another service call..this time it will take them 2 weeks to come out. I will NEVER buy this cr**py brand again. WASTE OF MONEY & TIME.
