Pros: fast results, easy to use, quick workouts, best back support, excellent rehab Cons: no accessories, low weight limit, not very smooth running, not overly sturdy
Ahhhh. Now THIS is one of my favorite topics- THE TOTAL GYM. WARNING: This is a very long and detailed review. It is designed for the person who is truly interested in making the best investment in a TOTAL GYM product. If you are not ...
Pros: Fun, good for stretching, comfortable bench. Cons: Awkward to store, exercises are sometimes painful and options are limited.
I'm a formerly athletic male, 42, 6-1, 230 pounds. I have a bad disk in my lower body and bought a Total Gym 1000 at Target after watching the commercials. The machine appealed to me mainly because it looked like it would provide strength training while...
Pros: Fast workouts, builds coordination, smooth operation, may be inviting Cons: None worth putting up front
The Total Gym 11000 (not the infomercial version from Fitness Quest although nearly the same thing) simply put, is a quality piece of equipment. For my brother it was probably his best option for a home gym, considering both spatial and workout...
Pros: Very good, easy, all-over workout. Low to no impact. Cons: Too big for many houses.
Would you like to look like Christie Brinkley? Yes, so would I. She looks good, and she advertises the Total Gym, along with someone I hadn’t heard of before, Chuck Norris. Now my husband sat up and took notice when he saw Chuck Norris. He had heard of...
Pros: Convenient, durable, easy to assemble and disemble. Cons: Very heavy,
As I graduated from High School I thought to myself,"wow finally I get to go to a college with proper exercise equiment." Well although they had decent exercise equiment I craved more. I wanted convience, comfort, and a gym that can help me with...
Look out Arnold S, Sylvester S, and Jean Claude VD. Because Gill has bought herself a total gym. It cost me £199 quid from TV shopping. (You can pay in instalments)
I had better lose half that in weight pounds or Im sending the contraption...
Pros: Provides a total workout Cons: A little bulky
I have owned the Total Gym 1000, for about a year now. The reason why, is because i was channel shopping, and it looked good. It caught my eye, so i watched the programme, and then decided, that for £150, you couldn't go wrong.
Pros: Self-contained, durable, fluid movement Cons: Rather large footprint
First of all a little background about me, the user. I am a 38 y.o. male who is employed in the transportation field, i.e. a commercial driver. As a teenager I was into lifting free weights, somewhere between a body builder and a circuit trainer. Due to...
Pros: Easy to move, great cardio, many resisant levels, Cons: not very reliable, not as good of a workout as implied,
I purchased my Total Gym 1000 about 1 year ago. It was fairly expensive but with my new full time job I found the extra money. But the total gym looks incredible on television infomercials, and they make it look so hard when in reality it isnt. The few...
Pros: it folds nicely. Cons: cost more than its worth. you get nothing out of it.
when i was in high school i was very active thus i was quite tone. going through college i gain about 40ish lb. if describe by friends, hey would all say i am fat. so i decided to buy the total gym hoping to get thinner.

Pros: Compact, versatile, durable Cons: Not a home gym
If you don't have the room for a home gym and you want a well rounded strength workout the total gym is a good option. A home gym can take up half of one room. The total gym folds to a space saving size.
Great gym - does some things really well by cooper222 ,Dec 10 '04
Pros: Versatile, simple to use, fun Cons: Not enough resistance for some of the large muscle group excersises.
I've had this thing for a couple of years and still use it all the time. On it's own it would not be sufficient for me to get a complete workout but I have other equipment as well and this fits in quite nicely in my overall workout program. The main problem for me is that I'm too strong for alot of the movements (such as bench/shoulder press and rowing) but for the stuff I use it for it is great. It is incredibly versatile and I'm always discovering new ways to use it. No compaints on build quality this one is fine, I couldn't see spending $1000+ on a higher end model. If I were buying one today, I would look into one of the slightly more expensive models with added resistance from bungee cords. My favorite excersises on it are leg pulls, butterflys, lat raises and abdominal twists.
Pros: Quick, versitile, smooth, comfortable, complete range of motion, easy on the joints. Cons: Quite heavy to lug around.
The Total Gym is extremely effective for all types of training. I have personally done strength training, rehab, and circuit train on the Total Gym. I'm a personal trainer and I use it to train my clients in their house.
