Pros: Relatively inexpensive, flexible, surprisingly well-built. Cons: Smallish board can be awkward for larger users.
If you are looking into the total gym system, as I did, you may run across the "total gym supra" (hereinafter TGS). TGS is a version of the total gym produced by Fitness Quest for Sears which differs slightly from other versions. The most noticeable ...
Pros: Multi-use, Endurance and/or strength trainer. Cons: Like to see the cost jump down, more folks would own one.
I bought this machine at a time I lived in a condo and did not want a huge universal machine taking up space. Though I loved the workouts on a universal the Total Gym took up much less space. The first thing out of the box I saw what was a sturdy ...
Pros: Efficient, elegant, effective design- replaces an entire gym and provides great, safe workouts Cons: Insufficient protection for scratchable floors.
The infomercial does a good job of showing many of the exercises you can do with this machine. The model 2000 has a more robust frame and is heavier than its smaller, less expensive peers, and I recommend it for larger/heavier users or families. ...
Pros: Great quality built machine, Gives great results quickly, quick workouts Cons: None that I can think of
I first bought a Total Gym 1000 model 8 years ago. I loved it and used it off and on for 8 years. I was lucky enough to find a 2000 model on ebay for $200 including shipping from a business that had 200 of these that was going out of business.

Like a lot - Poor presses by kagenoken ,Aug 16 '05
Pros: This is an awesome total body workout machine! Cons: Chest Press
This is a very versatile machine. You can do quick intense muscular workouts, or thorough muscular/cardiovascular marathons.
The various exercises keep you motivated, and the feel is nice and smooth.
The only thing that I do not like is that when doing presses, you cannot get a direct gravitational pull from the pulley. Instead you are always pulling in an angular upwards direction, which puts the majority of the stress on the front of the shoulder (deltoid) muscle. Because of this, you cannot work the chest (pectoral Major) muscles in the most productive manner, and it puts undue stress on the shoulder joint. If you avoid this exercise, or lean back in order to make the angle of the press, the same as the cable, shoulder joint stress would be eliminated.
This machine is very enjoyable to use. I use it almost everyday, and every workout that I have makes me feel good. I would recommend this machine to my closest friends, but I would suggest that they do other exercises instead of the chest press, for that need.
