Pros: A sumptuously romantic dining room, excellent service Cons: Inconsistent food, very expensive!
Someone else’s world. That’s exactly how my Beau described our evening at Fleur de Lys. Real life could not possibly be this romantic and sophisticated. But it was fun to dress up and pretend, if only for a little while.
Pros: Exquisite food; attentive service; wonderful ambience Cons: Expensive water
I have made the rounds of some of San Francisco's "best" restaurants including Masa's, Fifth Floor, Farallon, and Gary Danko, and I think I may have had my best meal at Fleur de Lys.
This was a pleasant experience from the start. I managed to...
I was looking for a really special and memorable place for an anniversary dinner. A friend of mine who works as a concierge for a local hotel told me that if I want the best, I should go to Fleur de Lys.
Pros: Wine pairing and breads. Sparkles of creativity. Nicely decorated main room for those with connections Cons: Many mediocre dishes. Indifferent service. Risk of being assigned to the less nice room.
If you are a professional restaurant reviewer, have spectacular looks or a lot of money, you get to sit in the main room which is a very romantic place with fabric ceiling and huge flower arrangements. We, however, were assigned to the small room next to ...
Pros: ambiance, wine list Cons: food, price, service
Okay, this restaurant is one I will never forget. Went there with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. Great setting, deep velvet red draperies, candles, brass, etc... Very chic, elegant. I was pleased for the first few minutes. The wine list...
I was in San Francisco attending a convention and found the restaurant over the internet. I chose it for its location.
To begin, the waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and made wonderful recommendations. The canape of chilled cauliflower was a...
Pros: Wonderful French Food Cons: Bad Service and Attitude
Good solid food executed by Chef Hubert Keller, but service and attitude was the worst one that I ever experienced in the Bay Area dining scene. It was my birthday dinner with my friend from Japan. We made a reservation via opentable.com for 6:30pm;...
Pros: Nicely dressed employees Cons: Virtually called me a liar
Earlier in the evening, I made an online reservation at Fleur de Lys for 9:15pm. Before the appointed hour, I called several friends to speak excitedly about my upcoming premier visit to this supposedly stellar restaurant. I arrived fifteen minutes...
Pros: excellent food and wine Cons: very expensive
Fleur de Lys is the best restaurant I have ever enjoyed.
Do not plan to go there unless you are prepared to pay highly and to spend a large amount of time. I last ate there with two friends, and our dinner cost over $600.00. The real proof...
I spent nearly 90 minutes slogging through bad traffic from the East Bay for dinner at Fleur de Lys on a Friday one week before Christmas. I was not in a good mood. Everything melted away once I sat down in the lovely, warm, golden dining room. The ...
Pros: Decor, which isn't much in favor of a restaurant Cons: Ambience, average food, overpriced wine list
We came to be impressed, and left, on the whole, disappointed. Small, cramped reception area/bar. Barman and front of house had disconcerting habit of airing grievances to each other over the customers sitting having a drink. Decor impressive. Tables...
Pros: Ambience - Service - General visual appeal Cons: Food was mediocre - Portions left us leaving HUNGRY!
On a 1 to 10 scale, I rate myself at least a 7.5 when it comes to cooking and appreciating good food (my family and friends might argue I’m closer to a 10). Although French cuisine is certainly not my strong suit, I’m very competent with Italian, ...
Dirty utensils @ Fleur de Lys by bay18627 ,Oct 31 '06
Pros: Very cute presentation of the food. Cons: Dirty utensils... Need I say more?
I looked forward to celebrating my dear friend's 50th birthday at Fleur de Lys and saved and planned to treat 4 people there, including me. This was suppose to be a very special event for all of us to attend such a famous restaurant. However, much of the fine dining experience was shattered when my waiter managed to give me back to back 2 knifes both with chunks of dirty food on it. Needless to say that leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I can hardly enjoy my $100 meal per person. I was so mad that I paid $400 for a gross experience I could have had at a $5 diner somewhere.
The only saving grace is after I complained to the manager, he apologized and made me feel better by giving us a round of champagne.
Pros: Great food, Environment, Cons: Lack of atmosphere, speed of service (too quick), tables spaced too close together
I took my now Fiance there for a romantic dinner and was wowed immediately - a really cool venue. The main room is very well decorated, staff are very attentive. The menu needed a little explaining and they were OK at telling you what things were. Service for me, was too quick - i like to enjoy the meal - especially if you are spending $300 on a meal...
Difficult to have a private conversation.. people seemed to dress up quite a bit too.. I had jacket and open neck shirt, everyone else in ties!...
