Last Spring, it seems that we saw commercials for Floam on television on a daily, if not an hourly basis. Each time my daughter saw such an advertisement, she begged me to buy it, and though I was not sure what it actually was or if I wanted it ...
Pros: Kids like it. Cons: Kind of messy, doesn't stick to things.
I really don’t know what I was thinking when I bought a package of Floam for $7.42 for 2 (3.5 oz.) tubs. My youngest had behaved so well in the checkout line at Wal-Mart, (she did much better than me, we stood there about 20 minutes), so this was in the ...
Pros: Not a one Cons: Sticky, nasty, smelly, unworkable, doesn't wash off, ruins clothes and hair
Luckily, we didn't fall for the television advertisements for the multiple-tub kits of Floam with all the accessories (and the shipping and handling fees.) On an impulse, we grabbed a single tub for my 4 and a half year old on the clearance shelf at the ...
Pros: A neat idea, but the product doesn't meet expectations. Cons: Takes too much effort to get the product into a usable state.
We saw the Floam commercials on TV but had not succumbed. However, my son's grandmother brought him a tub of blue Floam on her last visit. The good news is that it can now be bought at large retailers in a single package, so it requires a smaller ...
Pros: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! Cons: It is expensive, it smells horrible and it just doesn't work.
I do daycare and my kids were begging me to buy this to use when we do arts and crafts. The kids who would use this range from 3-7 years. The floam has a age guideline for 5 and over but with supervision I did not find this to be a problem with the ...
The commercials (of course) make it look so easy and fun to play with. Our two boys ages 8 and 6 had this at the top of their list for Santa. We just took it out today to play with it and it is nothing but one big gooey mess! It does not mix at all. You ...
Pros: the kids stopped asking for some Cons: my house smells like dead people
Ok Ok so we gave in and purchased floam from a major retail store. While we haven't had the problems that others have experiences (the kids were able to make it hold shapes with no problem) it bothered me that the packaging was so vague. My kid's age's ...
Pros: NONE Cons: It is a sham, a crock, it doesn't work, stains everything.
Today we bought perky pink floam in the 3.5 oz tub. It TV commercial states,"Floam is fun you can feel... Roll it, mold it, cover it, thats the way you Floam it! Kids love Floam! With Floam in your hands the fun never stops. You get 3 Double Size ...
Pros: NONE! Cons: unusable product, nonexistent customer service, and overpriced
My 5 year old son asked Santa for this for Christmas. "Santa" paid $19.95 for 4 double sized tubs and another $12.90 for priority shipping so that it would arrive in time. Although it no longer goes under the RoseArt name, it seems to be the same garbage ...
Pros: Very fun. Sticks to many surfaces. Not messy. Cons: Not enough colors. The tub isn't too airtight, so it may dry out.
I must say the a completely disagree with the negative reviews on Floam. Other reviewers ordered theirs, so that may make a difference in the quality. I bought mine from Target. It did as the commercial stated. It sticks to many surfaces, even slippery silicone, and comes off easily. Foam beads don't fly and make a mess when using it. When you get it, it is very important to mix the gel and foam beads. When you buy it at a store, it costs around $7.
Pros: ROLL IT IN A BALL AND THROW IT AT YOUR WORST ENEMY Cons: TOO MANY TO LIST....
Where do you start?...Floam is sticky and has bad consisteny. It smells bad. You can't get it on your clothes. You cannot mold or craft it as seen on TV.
I truly believe its created by some marketing people who came up with a unique product that could not work but felt they could make a fast dollar with it so when ahead with it anyway. SHAME ON YOU. As you can read the many other SAD reviews there are many others who have been DUPED into buying this waste of a time product. I feel sorry for all the disappointed kids who have tried unsuccessfully to play with this product.

When my son and I opened our tub of Floam, the smell nearly knocked us off our feet. We tried to mix it up but touching this stuff made me want to throw up. Once it was "workable" we tried to cover a small ball. It took days for it to dry enough to pick up, and the stuff still smelled! I've never experienced anything like this before and hopefully I never will again. It's too bad I was required to put one star on the review, since I wouldn't put any if I could.
Horrible, horrible product by lisabootoo ,Jan 01 '07
Pros: None come to mind. Cons: Sticky, messy, difficult to clean up.
I purchased a small container of this junk for a stocking stuffer and was terribly disappointed. I seem to have had the opposite experience than most of the reviewers who say it wouldn't stick to anything. Our problem was that we couldn't mold it to anything because ours was so incredibly sticky that we couldn't get it off our hands. In fact, it stuck to everything else EXCEPT the one place we wanted it to stick. It was as though we had stuck our hands in Elmer's glue and then into some Rice Krispies. It actually ruined my son's shirt because after about 10 minutes of picking and peeling I still couldn't get it all off. I ended up trashing the shirt for fear that if I put it in with the rest of the laundry the floam would actually adhere to our clothes during the wash cycle. It also stuck to the table and I'm still scraping it off. I followed the directions and tried working with it, but that just made it worse. Just awful.
Pros: My kids now know that things are not always as they appear. Cons: My kids were very disappointed after this purchase.
The kids in this house say, "Floam is sticky, gooey and it's hard to make stuff". After months and months of listening to my kids beg for product because of it's intriguing television commercials, I finally broke down and purchased a tub at our favorite craft store. We expected it to be similar to 'Play-do', and it is not at all. I had to knead it for 15 minutes before the kids could even use it and, even then, it is a total disappointment. This morning, two days after our initial $7 investment and attempt to enjoy the product, we tried it again. It remains a disappointment. We found it impossible to mold it into any of the shapes as shown and described on the television commercial. It is nothing but a mess of goo and styrofoam beads.
Pros: Absolutely NONE Cons: Too messy to actually create anything
It was like trying to get freshly made Rice Krispies treats to stick on something and the gooey marshmallow gets EVERYWHERE. My 7 year old and 5 year old thought it was the worst toy ever. Lesson learned for them that there is not always truth in advertising...that you don't always get value for the money.
Pros: Child learns early, harsh lesson about life. Cons: Child learns early, harsh lesson about life.
Our six year-old son saw this in the store and instantly asked to be able to use his allowance savings to purchase it. He (and we) had seen the very effective, attractive TV ads. After getting home, he gave up in tears after 30 minutes. IT *ABSOLUTELY* WILL NOT STICK TO ANYTHING! Probably the worst product and most dishonest advertising we have ever seen.
Don't get FLOAMed! Terrible! by blueyeliz ,Jul 05 '06
Pros: The only thing you can do with it is mold it to itself. Cons: The worst thing about floam is it dries out really fast and doesn't stick!
We got FLOAM for Christmas and it hasn't worked for anything my son has tried it for - and believe me, he has TRIED. Doesn't stick to anything. Dried up little beads all over the floor. Also it takes a huge effort when you first open it to knead, knead, knead, knead before you can even try anything. Don't buy it!!
My son got 4 containers for his birthday. 2 containers were absolutely worthless, did not form together at all. Just a bunch of little foamy stinky pieces that wouldn't stick together. The other 2 containers molded together a bit better but why not just use play-do. It doesn't get hard like advertised. It's gross and don't waste your money.
Pros: none Cons: Product does not work as intended, it just makes a mess.
Floam does not work. It does not stick to itself or anything else. My six year old was so excited to get it for Christmas and it is a disaster. It is also impossible to reach the company that sold it. Do not waste your money on this awful product.
Pros: Colorful Cons: Expensive, does not perform as advertised.
This product is a colossal disappointment! My son played with Floam for about 30 minutes before becoming thoroughly frustrated (on Christmas Day). It would not shape or adhere to any object we tried. The price is outrageous for some foam balls in a colorful medium.
Pros: not much= bright colors Cons: Messy, Messy, Messy!
When we first took it out of the container it had to be kneaded by an adult just to make it at all workable. Yes, it's sticky, and the smell is a little odd, but that's not the half of it. After just 1-2 uses the tiny little foam balls start to detach and roll. Once detached the little balls stick to everything but the floam itself. My three boys played with four tubs for only about 10 min, and I had literally thousands of "floam balls" all over the place. Plus, loosing that many foam pieces- means you actually have less floam after each play time. Also, the commercial says, "it will stick to almost any surface". We can't get it to stick to anything we want it to. This product has been a huge disappointment from the second I dialed the 800#, to the ten minute cleanup after the kids got bored with it.
Pros: none Cons: False advertising, does not stick to anything. Smells terrible.
I too bought this product for Christmas for my kids. The advertisement is very deceiving. It does not stick to anything! It smells terrible. The idea book is worthless because it's impossible to create any of the things in it. We are also trying to contact the company for a refund.
Pros: Forms well, easy to handle, feels like slime (which the kids love),long lasting projects. Cons: They don't have enough color choices!!
I have 3 children and they all love floam. We first used it 6 years ago for a Kindergarten project. My daughter, then 5 1/2, was thrilled with it and made a beautiful lamb by herself which we still have and display on her bookshelf. She was able to manipulate the floam herself without frustration or difficulty. We used it again recently for her fifth grade project and all my children had so much fun with it that I ordered a family pack for play and projects. We HIGHLY recommend it.
Bought this because of TV ad sounding so exciting. Crafting is important part of home schooling. Total waste of time and money. Most fun we had with it was throwing it in the garbage!
Overpriced and not much fun by christinel29 ,Dec 28 '05
Pros: Something new for the kids to play with. Cons: Messy. Overpriced. Tiny containers.
The stuff is really weird when you first open it, sticks to your fingers. Took a long time for my kids to mix it up to the point that it would start sticking together. They played with it for about 10 minutes and got bored. Play-dough would be more entertaining. They are ages 6 and 8.
Pros: none Cons: smell and doesn't work as advertised!
This stuff is the worst thing I've purchased! It is impossible to mix. It's like mixing styrofoam and plastic slime. It also smells like pet urine. It was a gift for my sons ( ages 6 & 7), and they don't want it anymore! They were up and playing with something else within 10 minutes!!! Don't waste your money or time. Also, it is really hard to get to the customer service representatives. It says the lines are busy. I'm sure they are with everyone trying to get their money back for this useless product. It is just the worst.
Floam Is Crap - TV Commercials Deceive Consumer!!! by dgcarbone ,Dec 29 '05
Pros: None Cons: Does not work as advertised.
This is by far the worst product I have ever purchased. It does not work as advertised. Floam is a sham. It doesn't stick together let alone anything else. Stay away!!! I'm returning the product and having my credit card company reverse the charges since I've been unable to get in touch with the company. It's as if they did a mass marketing blitz and closed shop so they don't have to handle consumer complaints.
