Pros: Cheap, quiet, and gets all the dishes really CLEAN, every time Cons: Doesn't empty itself?
Before I start this review, I should note that I believe Frigidaire is owned by (Electrolux?) now. Also, this review covers several different model numbers. These are all the exact same dishwasher, with different exterior colors: FDB1050RE (the ...
Pros: Quiet, efficient, effective, looks nice, great price Cons: Escaping steam can make it too hot to stand right in front of the unit
The old Kitchen Aid Superbra was still running, but it was loud, and we had to rinse the dishes if we expected them to come out reasonably clean. I'm sure it sucked up a lot of water and electricity, too. So in March, 2007, when we decided to remodel ...
Pros: Gets dishes very clean, is quiet and easy to use. Cons: Glass trap is hard to remove, door is hard to open with long fingernails.
My husband and I live in an older home that never had a built-in dishwasher. For years I stood at the sink and hand-washed dishes, even through two pregnancies which absolutely was murder on my back since I was basically standing a foot away from the ...
Pros: Easy to clean front of the faux stainless version, room for larger pots and pans Cons: Everything else, it leaks, soap dispenser doesn't open, turns itself on, top rack now useless
We bought the FDB1050REM, which is the silver model of this dishwasher, in January 2008. We purchased this dishwasher because of its low price, thinking that it did not really matter, they all clean dishes, I have learned my lesson, there is a big ...
Pros: Top rack has slanted area for glasses/cups to dry well. Cons: Got louder over time, bottom rack rolls back in when loading dishes.
I purchased my Frigidaire FDB1050RE dishwasher a little less than two years ago. It cleaned dishes pretty well up until about a month ago. The top rack has a slanted area for cups and glasses so that water runs off the bottoms of them (helps them dry ...
Pros: Solid, dependable, inexpensive, uses little water. Cons: Although fairly quiet, it could be quieter
We purchased this dishwasher in October 2004 and it has not given us any problem since purchase. We use this unit at least once per day. It uses very little water, yet the dishes always come clean - completely. The rotary dial is very easy to ...
Pros: Low cost, quiet, excellent wash performance, excellent top rack. Cons: Cutlery carrier in lower rack instead of door.
After a good deal of research I opted for the 1050 model as it had everything I needed and nothing I didn't. I mean a glass cycle maybe nice, but who really uses it daily? My old Whirlpool died and a replacement was almost double the cost of the ...
Pros: My large dishes fit in it.
It's pretty quiet. Cons: Bottom rack falls into d/w when emptying.
Detergent tabs don't always dissolve.
I just moved into a brand new house, and was excited to have a new dishwasher. I have a Frigidaire refrigerator that I've been really happy with, and I thought their d/w would be great, too. I've been using it for 2 months. First, I was thrilled that my ...
This is my second Frigidaire dishwasher, the first one died after years of faithful service so I purchased one as close to my original as possible. The wire racks are well designed with room for lots of plates, dishes and other items. I find I can ...
Pros: Inexpensive, and some are happy with it Cons: I need another, different, new dishwasher...
After looking at a couple previous reviews, and glancing at the disintegrating rusty racks in my old Kenmore, I figured why not get a new unit for little more than the cost of a pair of racks. We have HARD water, but when our water softener is working ...
FRIGIDAIRE Was a good name NO MORE by frigthewasher ,Nov 07 '06
Pros: Quiet Cons: everything else; absolute junk; many stupid failures
These dishwashers and all under other names off this use the same parts that just like to fail. From a latch; I mean a latch!!!!! that falls apart in your hand. Then a water fill valve that dripped; NOT LEAKED!! but a very slow drip just enough to soak through both layers of plywood in the kitchen and begin causing MOLD. The carpentry $$$BILL$$$ was a lot. Now the spray arms failed because the pump failed. At the repair part place the wall is covered with the same "fast moving part" under all the names this junk is offered. Not really sure what to buy at this point but stay away from this junk with the name FRIGIDAIRE and ALL those MADE BY THE SAME COMPANY with other names you THOUGHT you knew!!!!!! How sad of a world is this and the thing is only a couple years old.
We bought this dishwasher after our other finally gave out. It took 5 hours to get in; my father-in law isn't Mr. handy man. First it cleans pretty well, but I havent had a dishwasher that left dishes dirty. The problem is it doesnt hold nearly as many dishes as my old one. The utensil holder doesnt hold any big utensils, so they take up space else where. The big problem is how long it takes to wash. On the heavy load setting it takes over 2 1/2 hours. Another problem is the spray thing at the bottom has popped off twice now and I have only used it 5 times. Overall we are moving in a few months and I'll be glad to get a new dishwasher.
Pros: Price, Value, Cleaning ability, Quietness Cons: The opening handle is not deep enough.
Selector knob not flush
Since the reviews at this site helped me make a decision on purchasing this unit, I thought I would also critique the product and maybe help someone else.
I recently purchased this item from Sears ( labeled Kenmore ) and was pleasantly surprised. I allowed for Professional installation so I can not comment on that, or the longevity of the product since I haven't had it very long at all. However, the dishwasher does a great job. It is reasonably quiet, has nearly ( if not all! ) of the functionality of todays Dishwasher's costing 2-3 times as much, and it cleans very well. My first test load included BBQ sauce, dried red wine, hardened powdered detergent on clear glasses from my prior dishwasher ( the chemicals had coated them when it went belly up ) and additional tough to clean items. And the tall tub design is very useful as compared to my previous old school dishwasher. If you are looking for overall value when you make a buying decision on items like this, you just can't go wrong.
Pros: does a great job cleaning the dishes, no more washing before washing Cons: flimsy door, poor installation instructions.
We bought this dishwasher, after doing some research, to replace a dishwasher, that tried to catch the house on fire. The previous model had to almost have the dishes washed before washing them. This dishwasher, on the other hand does a great job. We have found that it removed some film on glasses that we thought were etched marks in the glasses. At this point we are very happy with the job that it does.
The only bad things that I would say about this dishwasher concern the door and the installation instructions. The instructions are of the "do this, then this, but BEFORE you do that, do this" variety. If you do any installations, you'll understand what I mean. The other problem I have is with the sheet metal of the door. It is very flimsy. I had to pull the dishwasher out from under the cabinet to do the final leveling, and when I grabbed the bottom of the door, the sheet metal bent. I was able to bend it back into place.
Pros: Heated drying, heated wash, multiple washing arms. Inexpensive and quiet. Cons: none at this time. It has everything I need.
Our old Kenmore gave up and the hunt for a replacement was on... with initial budget of $300-$370. After spending few days reading reviews on different models in my price range I have stumbled upon a favorable review given to this unit. I was intrigued and went to ABT to check it out.
When it comes to appliances I like simplicity. It looked like this dishwasher had everything I wanted: heated wash cycle, heated drying, and multiple washing arms at the same time providing simple controls.
I bought it on the spot. It has been running for 3 weeks supplying outstanding results. I use heated washing and drying features in addition to rinsing aid. It is quiet compared to my old Kenmore and uses twice less water.
I am very happy with the unit knowing that I spent only $220 on it. ABT was running 12% off at the time of purchase.
