Pros: highly effective, not detectable in bloodstream, virtually non-toxic Cons: some animals do develop skin reactions, not 100% on ticks, pricey
I am a licensed veterinarian who whole-heartedly endorses Frontline. I do not work for the company or anything sleazy like that, but given the large number of imitation products on the market, I felt the need to write this review.
Fipronil...

Pros: Really does get rid of fleas, long lasting Cons: Drips down the dog's back when applying
“What on earth are those rice grains doing coming out of my dog’s butt?”, I thought to myself one day when I was taking my schnauzer for her daily “poop walk”. I certainly hadn’t fed her any rice. I scooped it up and set out for the veterinarian’s...

Pros: It's really easy to apply, and it does work. Cons: It does nothing to prevent ticks from latching on to your dog!
We take a lot of hikes, all of which our dog accompanies us on. We also live in the south, a.k.a. tick heaven. We have tried several sprays, and even pills, but I have to say that this one has done the best job of all of them.
every time we...

Pros: Quick and effective. Safe Cons: Pricey
It was the summer of '97. I was not only a brand new puppy owner but a first time dog owner. My poor baby was scratching from fleas, and I had no idea what to do. I tried a couple of things from the pet store, as well as a flea dip from the groomer....

Pros: no more fleas! Cons: a bit expensive; you have to get it from the vet
I am very protective of my cats, and I NEVER let them outside. So I was in shock when I discovered they had fleas!
When I was growing up, we always had indoor/outdoor cats. My mom just put collars on them, and during the summer they mostly...

Pros: easy to apply, works quickly, safe for your pet Cons: Can be expensive if you have multiple pets
I first started using Frontline shortly after it came on the market several years ago. We have 5 dogs that are 50-120 pounds and we live out in the country (flea country that is!). What started out as a minor flea problem in our house had blossomed into...

Pros: kills fleas and ticks, dog can be bathed or go swimming Cons: only last 1 month in cats, only 3 applications makes it more expensive than Advantage
Let's talk cats first...Compared to Bayer Advantage, for indoor cats, you lose money. First, I will say this, for flea control, it works just as well as Bayer Advantage. I tried both because our vet clinic staff was given free trials of each during the...

Pros: Fairly safe for all sized cats, does kill most fleas Cons: a bit on the expensive side, disappointing long term effects
Bulletin
I wrote this review two years ago and have since reconsidered and so revised the original piece.
When I first wrote this review, I was the proud human belonging to four cats. It's my job to dispense the food, change...

Pros: Effective, no smell Cons: Expense
I was shocked when I had to pull seven ticks off my dog after a walk in late April. Not only are these nasty little critters, but I am nervous about the diseases that they can carry. I called the vet and requested Frontline specifically because I had...

Pros: Fast, Easy, Clean, Long Lasting Cons: A little expensive, but worth the money!
The reason why I like this product so much is that it is very easy to use. You don't need to wear gloves because the medication never touches your hands. All you need to do is open the box, take out packet, cut it open, squeeze the medication onto...

Pros: Effective and mostly safe Cons: It is still an insecticide
I'm one of those humans who is hyper sensitive to flea bites. The little welts are unique enough that after just spending a little time at a friends house, I've been able to tell them they have fleas days before they were able to see them on their ...

Pros: fast acting, water repellant, flea and tick control in one Cons: animals with dry skin may have a problem with it spreading as it should
Working daily in the veterinary medicine field I am confronted constantly with the question "How do I control my flea problem?" Very easily, Frontline Top Spot.
In my opinion this is the best product on the market. It not only...

Pros: Easy to use and efficient Cons: READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE
Living on a small farm we need cats, but cats come with "lodgers". These lodgers need control. In the interest of the cats welfare and of the unwelcome bites from the lodgers. There is nothing worse than to see a poor cat scratching itself raw...

Pros: cost efficient, most effective, easy to use Cons: Haven't found any
Being an animal lover, first and foremost important to me is my animal's well being. I have 3 dogs, 2 of which are boxers and 1 is my beloved chihuahua who runs the household. I am also the general "take in strays, fix them up and find them a...

Pros: It works! Cons: Expensive, but cheaper than fleas!
I am the owner of four pets, an 8 year old mixed breed, 2 English Mastiffs and 1 cat. In case you are unfamiliar with the mastiff breed, they are a very large dog. So, if we get fleas, we get a lot of them!
Our cat lives inside the house and...
