Pros: 6 megapixels, dual media card slots, and excellent digital images
Cons: see a few concerns
Fuji's new second-generation Finepix S2 Pro digital SLR is one of only three sub $2,500 digital SLR's available in the prosumer camera market. All three cameras are very similar in their capabilities and appearance and all three offer serious amateur...
The Finepix S2 Pro is the second generation digital SLR from Fujifilm. Despite its low-profile brand, its quality and performance are at the very top. Its highlights include:
- Nikon F-mount that accepts a full range of Nikkor lenses
-...
Pros: Excellent photo quality, great color and features, Nikon lens compatibility Cons: Plastic (polycarbonate) body and no electronic shutter release
The Fuji S2pro finally delivers on the promise of digital photography. At $2300 street price, it is not the most affordable digital camera you can buy, but if you have a business need for a versatile camera that can deliver image quality that can...
Select which camera to buy is a very hard decision to made especially for the camera in this price. Yes, it is "cheap" if you compare to the price that Kodak offered a year ago. But still, it is a big parches for me. I am always want to have a SLR camera...
Pros: Great results Cons: Doesn't have Nikon badge
The S2 has been compared to the Nikon D100 and the Canon D60 since day one due to similar price range and native resolutions. The S2 has been my choice and this is why.
Resolution:
12 megapixels out of the camera, ok interpolated from a...
Fuji Finepix S2 Pro Digital-SLR Camera: I have owned this camera since 2002 and I have been impressed since day one. I have spent lots of time behind the lenses of many legendary Nikon SLR film cameras and I had been leaning towards the Nikon D100 to ...
Pros: Great image quality! Cons: Slower than other Dslrs.
I have just found out that my S2 PRO has a yellow cast to most all images, i did a few tests on white balance vs my S3, the results were clearly that S2 neutral white balance has an overall yellow cast to it. So i use custom1 white balance for outdoor ...
Pros: 100-1600 ISO, light, easy controls, firewire and usb, smartmedia, compact flash, microdrive, great photos. Cons: Not as durable as it's $4000+ Nikon siblings, the D1, D1x, D1h
This is a great camera for amateurs and professionals alike. It takes absolutely beautiful photos and uses all of the Nikon lenses you may already have. The user controls are amazingly simple to master and the RAW conversion software comes with the...
Pros: Small, lightweight, easy to use, 6mp, dual media slots Cons: dual power, polycarbonate body, no rubber on hand grip, no portrait grip
I find the camera to be very functional. It's very easy to use. For someone that is familiar with digital cameras you can pretty much figure out most of the functions on the camera without even picking up the manual. Except for not having a rubberized ...
Pros: Versatility, image excellence, color and skin tone rendering. Cons: Plastic body makes it look fragile.
I have owned my S2 Pro since August '03 and I estimate I've taken about 4,000 shots with it so far. I am extremely impressed with the quality of the images when I'm shooting at ISO 1600. Shadow detail at all ISO speeds is extremely good. The biggest complaint about the S2 Pro seems to be focus problems, but I have never had a problem with this. Even though the camera will shoot 12 mpx (interpolated), I have yet to use it because I'm fully satisfied with the quality at much lower pixels. (Most of my shooting I do at 3.2 mpx. In my wedding work, if I'm shooting groups and I know the shot might be enlarged to 16x20 or so, I'll switch it to 6 mpx in Fine-mode. The results are beautiful.)

Pros: Exceptionally good picture quality especially with the 2.8 Nikon 70-200mm lens Cons: Body is tinny and frail.Large repair bills for breakdowns. Require a re-charging system. Eats batteries
Very disappointing body as it is too light and does not have the durability of normal professional cameras. Knobs have a tendency to break under average pressure.Badly needs a re-chargeable system within it. I believe this camera is not built to professional camera standards and is only suitable for basic amateur use with a limited shelf life.
If the camera breaks down the repair bills will break your bank and can be worth more than a new camera. Don't let it break down or better still don't buy one in the first place. The wind deck is very popular for replacement and breaks every 7-8 months. This alone will cost $400-$500 depending where you are, Two so far in 1.5 year. The Circuit board (CCT) does not last forever and I had to replace it after only 1.5 years basic use meaning the whole camera had to refurbished and this is what broke the bank and you have to decide to repair it or throw it away (not much difference in cost)or buy two. No unusual reasons for the breakdowns other than normal use."WARNING" CHECK THE COST OF SPARE PARTS BEFORE YOU BUY. NO MORE FUJI FINE PIX CAMERAS!
This product is pretty much as advertised. The color and detail is great. It processes the image quickly even with 17 Meg files using a microdrive. This camera makes it is an easy transition from a film SLR to digital camera.
I just recieved the camera a couple of days a go. My first test was on a bridal fashion show. I normally use a 645 rig at this event, there was three different shows all just a like. I photographed the middle show all digital. I set the exposure at 400 and f stop at 4 shutter at 1/60 and just used the pop up flash. Most of the shots were taken at the end of the runway where the action wasn't too fast. Over all I liked the shadow detail of digital images better than the 645. As expected neither had great highlight detail due to the on camera flash. There was no noticeable noise at 400 unlike a friends kodak dcs 760 .
We did a side by side test 760 / S2 for sharpness at 6 mega pixels and it was close. When I used the S2 at the raw image the S2 had a slight edge.
When teathered to a laptop it would help my customers to see 2 large images side by side when trying to pick the best image, and a 1 to 1 lens factor an this price would be great. Over all its a lot of bang for the buck.
