Pros: Price; Safety ratings; Quick stopping ability Cons: Hard to find
Tire manufacturing is a competitive business and there are dozens of brand names, tread types, and mileage ratings to select from. A few months ago, I went on a tire shopping trip, determined to replace my worn- out Goodyear tires that came with my car ...
Pros: can't beat the value / smooth, comfortable, quiet ride Cons: not the ultimate performance tire, but only $72.00 for H-rated!!! 225-60-16
OK, I own a '98 Grand Prix GTP with 165,000 mi, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a new set of meats. I had the BF Goodrich Traction T/A H-rated tires which were fantastic! Could stop on a dime with those and could make the sharpest ...
Pros: Good ride on these Cons: belt letting go in tire, could be dangerous
When our van needed tires, put Futura LTE's on. Initially liked tires, seemed to be good value. Sometimes the tires would wear out before the tread life was up. Pep Boys was pretty good at pro rating them, although one time they gave me a hard time on ...
Pros: Good wear, Reasonable Price Cons: 2 surprise failures has me worried
I bought a set of Futura Lites for my Vitara. They were 70,000 mile tires and at 60,000 still had good even tread remaining when 1 blew out. I had it replaced with the same tire (prorated saved me $25) and it threw the tread off at 10 days old, 2000 miles on it at freeway speed. Nearly lost the car. Put me in a spin and into the ditch. Seemed like a good wearing tire but now I'm not so sure... The same tire now has a 60,000 warranty.
Pros: Road noise Cons: Traction & Handling and Treadwear
I have used these tires and they are Cooper manufactured for Pepboys. The tread has worn out half of the original at less than 13000 miles and the warranty is for 60000 miles. Road noise not that bad but the traction is not as good as the Bridgestone I have used. For the similiar price could have bought better brand name like Yokohama AVID,Kumho Solus KH-16,Bridgestone Potenza or Goodyear Comfthread. Informative resources for tire surveys are tirerack.com, survey section by category of tire and Consumer Digest's November 2006 magazine Pages 54.
Pros: They seem inexpensive and I had no objections to the ride comfort and handling. Cons: It amazed me at how fast the tread life diminished so fast.
These tires lasted my Mazda Miata 20K miles. However, they are rated at 60K. I felt like I just put them on so I will be trying on different tires this time around. They seemed like an inexpensive deal and I see why. That being said, the ride quality and handling is acceptable while road noise seemed a lot quieter once I replaced my tires with Bridgestone Potenzas, which is a higher quality tire. The Futura HR tires are only found at Pep Boys, so while I am reviewing the tires, I'd also like to say that I am disappointed with the quality of service at several Pep Boys stores.
