Pros: 64 bit CPU,
15.4 widescreen,
Media Center 2005,
Only one of two memory slots occupied Cons: Shared video memory,
4200 rpm hard drive,
heavy
I have owned this laptop for several weeks now. It comes with Media Center Edition 2005, AMD 3400 mobile, 512 MB ram, 80 GB hard drive, and a dual layer DVD burner. The video card is shared, and after I increased the memory to 1 GB, I was able to ...

was not impressed.

Pros: Windows Media is nice. Body and key layout is also a plus. Cons: Wasn't as fast as I hoped for.
I bought this laptop with the hopes of having a 2.2ghz flying fast putter.
It runs at 747mb! I spent forever on the phone with Gateway. Finally I was connected with someone who knew what they were talking about. He directed me to a website where I was able to download a patch for the processor. This website was gateway and my system NOW shows 2.1ghz but no real difference in performance. I did several online speed checker thingys - where a app checks your processor speed. well it say the same thing 2.1. Oh yeah, the battery AFTER the patch gets drained VERY VERY fast! Overall I am not satisfied. Maybe that is just the way this 64 "mobile technology" AMD reacts!?!
Body Style: I do like. No Cons for Body Style!

Don't waste your money

Pros: NONE Cons: Worst support I have ever encountered
I recently purchased a new Gateway laptop locally and less than three months the left hinge froze in the closed position. As I slowly tried to pry it open, the hinge broke.
absolutely unreal. The support bounced me around more times than I can remember. Finally they put me in touch with the "corporate" office. After being on hold for nearly 10 minutes with corporate this bozo tells me that I broke it. I asked to please speak with a supervisor and this same guy I'm speaking to, sarcastically says "Sure, can I help you?" THAT'S REAL PROFESSIONALISM GATEWAY!!
way to treat customers

Love it..

Pros: GREAT wide screen, fast, everything about this laptop is a pro. :) Cons: a little bit heavy but nothing that I can't deal with.
WOW... I'm so surprised that people have a bad opinion of this laptop. I bought mine and I use it just like a regular desktop computer (only I can take it with me). I just love mine. All I have done to my laptop is put a little extra memory in it and it runs like a dream.

Love it!

Pros: Wide Screen, Athlon 64, Media bays, DVD-RW, 4-USB, Firewire, Integrated networking, ... Cons: Heat. Standard 512M memory is under keyboard limiting memory to 1.5GB. No docking port.
This is not the fastest machine, but is an excellent sub $1K laptop (got mine for $850). Performance is close to what would be expected of other Athlon 64 PC's of any type. The biggest bottleneck would be the 5400RPM drive.
It has all of the features and capability needed to do desktop computing on the road. You want a feature? It probably has it.
I do genealogy, GPS-mapping, photography & video on the road. This machine handles it all, without requiring adapters.
Do wish it had come standard with 1GB, and will probably upgrade at some point.
Also would have preferred XP-Professional rather than Media Center, but it works OK.
Considering the price and functionality, this is a bargain laptop.
It appears this model is being replaced by the MX7120 which has a 100GB harddrive rather than the 80GB.

Pros: Wide screen, fast, runs well Cons: faulty dvd/cd drive after 2 1/2 years
I have had this laptop for over two and a half years. After a year, I upgraded to 1GB memory so it runs like a dream. I have put it through hell and back and it has worked great from day 1 until now.
Recently the dvd/cd drive started failing. It would play cds/dvds one day and not the next. It would burn data/media files in the morning and not in the afternoon. I spoke to a representative at best buy who said that it might be that the laser is wearing out (which can be replaced).
Other than that one problem 2 1/2 years later, it works well. I bring it everywhere with me. I love it.
