Not worth the money
by madtown91 ,Jan 01 '07
Pros: Inexpensive, good range, easy to use Cons: Low earpiece volume, reception consistently poor
I purchased this for $4.99 from Office Depot after 2 rebates. I am returning it because the sound level is so low (even at highest setting) you can hardly hear the person on the other end.

Worse than useless
by defiantoneks ,Feb 20 '07
Pros: affordable Cons: junk
Don't make yourself angry. I bought this phone less than a year ago, and now in the middle of a conversation it will beep once and then go dead. Hang it up on the base, pick it up and it will act like all is well. I've lost calls after being on hold, and had to dig up my old $5 corded phone just to complete a call. It's going in the trash momentarily.

Never buy GE phone again
by t0456js ,Apr 16 '06
Pros: NONE Cons: Unusable due to feedback
I threw the box it came in away thinking GE was one of the better companies when it came to quality. What a mistake! Worst phone I've own in 20 years. Phones aren't unusable because of the feedback you get in the ear-piece. DON'T BUY THIS MODEL.

Decent Entry-Level 5.8 GHz Cordless
by aggierob ,Sep 12 '05
Pros: Inexpensive, Great Range & Reception Clarity Cons: Low Volume, Pressing Cheek to phone can cause disconnection
Bought this at Wal-Mart for less than $30. The volume control could go higher; the setting of "4" is a barely acceptable level. The range is outstanding - I can go 150 feet (and probably farther) with it and not lose any of the reception quality. The battery goes for about 5-6 hours before needing to be put back on the base; my old phone was good for about 3-4 hours, so this is a slight step-up. Since getting this phone, I no longer get those false "half-rings", nor do I hear someone else's conversation as a faint backdrop to my own.
If you have younger children (under 5-6 I'd say), you might not want this phone for calling gramma and grampa: it's too easy to press a cheek to the phone and hang it up. For $30, it's a pretty good deal.
Aside from the volume control, and my daughter hanging up on gramma several times per conversation, I'm satisfied with this phone. When you only pay $30 for a 5.8 GHz phone, you shouldn't expect it to be perfect.

lousy sound
by momrox1 ,Mar 23 '06
Pros: low cost. good battery life Cons: sound is like speaking from an empty hall
The phone itself is very heavy to hold for an extended period of time. Has a good battery life but a lousy sound. People keep telling me I sound echo-ey, like I'm speaking from an empty house.

not worth it
by quake23 ,Nov 26 '05
Pros: cheap for 5.8 Cons: you get what you pay for
bad receiption
i bought this at wal-mart for $30. the old saying you get what you pay for is true :( i pluged it in next the computer had it charge for its 12hours then i started to test it. Then i turned it on dialed a number and i would have to push a number 5 fives till the tone registered then i change the the channel same thing if i did find a channel that worked it wouldn't work 10 feet away from the base and would have to get close to the base to change the channel. Tired a different spot in my home same thing. So i'm taking it back really not worth the $30, i got better receiption on a 2.4 and 900 mhz phone atleast you could dial a number without trying to find a channel and not hitting the number 5 fives before the tone sounded.
