Forgive me GE!!
by boo12mom ,Sep 26 '06
Pros: Out cleans the filter-less models ten to one. Easily portable Cons: Loud at highest speed, livable at lowest.
I brought this brand several years ago. Like many I got caught up in the filter less air purifier craze and bought an Oreck. I learned my lesson quickly.
Although this unit is loud on high, it is bearable at night on low. The room that this one is (the largest room in the house) in is virtually dust free as opposed to its 'upgrade' the Oreck couldn't clean the air in my bathroom.
As long as you keep the pre filter relatively clean (a good rinse will generally do it) the main filter lasts much longer than the insert that came with it says it should. I've never had any problems with odors from the filter no matter how much fish or garlic it has sucked up in my kitchen. Not to mention liter box odors when I come home from work and the box needed shoveling. I love this filter and will continue to use them.
Forgive me GE I've learned my lesson. More expensive is not always better.

Excellent Air Purifier, GE HEPA Air Purifier
by jeffrey987 ,Mar 17 '06
Pros: Great buy!! Cons: Better health.
I don't know what other reviews say about this product, but this air purifier is nothing, but just excellent. Sucks up dusty airs, and convert it into clean air. You can feel it when you use it.

Good air purifier, just really loud
by asulca593 ,Mar 13 '06
Pros: Good price, ease of use, moves a LOT air for its size Cons: Very noisy
I have had this for about 2 years. It does what an air purifier is supposed to do. It moves a lot of air and gives whatever medium-sized room you have it in a freshness. It is very easy to operate with just one knob. I don't mind having to change the filter. It also has a handy LED indicator to tell you when the air filter should be changed.
My only complaint is the noise. I would like to use this when I sleep, but it is so loud that I have a hard time sleeping. I have this in my bedroom, which is also my office, so I cannot really use it as much as I would like. It's hard to concentrate on work with it going; so the only time I use it is when I'm not home. Nevertheless, it keeps the air fresh.
If noise is not an issue, then this is a great option.

I don't work for GE
by clayboyrat ,Jan 22 '06
Pros: You get what you pay for Cons: loud
I don't work for GE but, my Father did. So growing up we had all kinds of GE products. I've always thought of them as being fair. As for this air cleaner. I think I got my moneys worth. Had it now for 2 years and works well.I over tax mine by trying to clean to big of an area.So I clean it more often. Its never smelled like old socks to me. Not to say it couldn't. I think it would be great in a bedroom. Not to loud on low. The filter are costly but all the paper ones are. Am happy with it

Works pretty good
by tribeca728 ,Sep 28 '05
Pros: air output (volume of air) Cons: noisy
The unit is loud. I have never had a problem with the filter smelling. I have had this unit over a year. The output of air is very good. In the summer months I can put it on high to get cooling air circulation.

Does the other reviewer work at GE?
by cooljoebay ,Jun 22 '05
Pros: Runs like a rock. Cons: Smells like a sock.
The unit is durable but somewhat noisy. The filter is the number one reason to avoid this unit. After a few weeks it smells up the whole house and you have to replace the filter(already?). Expensive to replace. 0/0
