Pros: none Cons: customer serviceproduct reliability
From Sears I bought a GE 3.5 cu. ft. washer (Model# WJRE5500GWW), and after 2 months it broke, it REALLY broke. It flooded my floor and needed a new transmission. What I was not told was that at that time, I could have had the washer replaced. What ...

Pros: Whisper quiet provided the transmission isn't in the process of failing. Cons: Poor quality, sparse instruction manual
Bought one of these at Sears with a matching dryer. At the five month mark, the transmission failed in the washing machine. Sears replaced the machine with an identical one and within a month of delivery, the transmission failed in the replacement ...

Big Disappointment
by aptivia ,Nov 02 '07
Pros: Quiet Cons: "Perfect Temp" means "luke warm" water when "Hot" has been selected.
We had this machine for three months and have been extremely disappointed. Clothes do not come out clean. We have tried a variety of soaps, water temps and smaller load sizes but the clothes still come out less than clean. This model has "Perfect Temp" which means that the water temperature is regulated by electronics not by the person washing the clothes. So when "Hot" is selected, the machine still mixes both hot water and cold water. Even when you close the "cold" water house line to the machine, the machine stops. Also the fabric softener cup is flimsy and requires frequent cleaning.

Awesome Washer
by lovelylaura40 ,Nov 30 '08
Pros: Space Saving, Quiet, Cleans Great, Reduced Dryer time, Looks Great! Cons: None
I almost didn't purchase this machine after reading some negative reviews about it on the net.. even though Consumer Reports gives it a Best Buy. I am so glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews. This is a great washer with a very large capacity. It is deceiving to look at because it is also small, but if It can fit in all my weeks worth of towels in one load and still have room, then I know it can hold alot. It spins the clothes really well. This has ment that my dryer works for way less time at least 10 - 15 mins per load! It also looks great what a bonus!
This washer is very quiet... and if you are having any problems at all with it I suugest you get it replaced.. I mean lemons come in all shapes and sizes...
Not sure where the "perfect Temp" complaint comes from. My washer does Hot/ Warm/ and Cold when called on. The clothes are defintely cleaner...

No GE for me!
by noge4me ,Dec 22 '08
Pros: I can't think of one. Cons: Too many problems. GE won't stand behind their piece of junk.
We bought this machine just over a year ago. At 6 months, it was leaking water. Sears sent out their repair person, who couldn't figure out what was wrong with the machine. He ordered three major parts for it, and they sent someone else to repair when the parts came in. He had to try to figure it out too. He ended up replacing the agitator motor. Total parts over $700 on a 6 month old machine! One year later, the motor went bad - over $200 in parts. Now, it's inoperable again, one month later.
This is the biggest appliance junk we have ever owned. Don't buy from GE! They won't swap and give me another machine. They want me to buy another one and pay 60% of the new price!

Don't buy this washer!!
by redfishrebel ,Oct 15 '08
Pros: Very quiet machine. Cons: GE doesn't want to stand behind it's product.
I have had this washer less than 2 months and it has already broken twice. It was very quiet at first, then started making noise and water sloshing over the tub and onto the floor if not set for small load. After waiting 10 days for new parts, it was repaired. Then a week later it started the same thing. GE doesn't want to replace the washer but just wants to keep fixing. They don't seem to understand that a family needs a washer and I can't keep waiting for them to fix it.
