The Garmin Forerunner 205 GPS is exactly what I was looking for in a sport GPS. Small, light, functional, and easy -- and much more convenient than my old Garmin 12 brick! I enjoy trail running, and I wanted to be able to track what I was doing a ...
Pros: Large, customizable display; backlit; easy to set up, built in GPS; shows training history Cons: Fits awkwardly on smaller wrists; mapping display is basically useless
As a runner, I was constantly going online to map my routes, and syncing up the timer on my iPod to guess my pace and the time of my training runs. Pedometers weren't very accurate and were impossible to set up. The Forerunner takes the guesswork out of ...

The whole point of the Forerunner is to measure your distance, and if it doesn't do that correctly, it is pointless.
Giving it the benefit of the doubt, I did run through some moderate tree cover. So, maybe that was the problem (although, all the documentation says it has great reception, even through tree cover and tall buildings).
