Pros: Very accurate GPS location and tracking. Floats. Standard batteries. Good PC software. Cons: Expensive. Menu system hard to learn. Separately purchased Topo map is way outdated.
Ouch. I just plunked down $550 for my new Garmin GPS receiver and the North America Topographical Map CDROM. And I'm not done yet. I likely will have to purchase the Inland Lakes, Bluechart Atlantic, and a North America City map. Though i am an ...
Pros: Routing, size, Easy to see screens Cons: Need to buy extra maps, adds to bottom line
This is my second Garmin unit. My first died after about 5 years of heavy use. I researched quite heavily, looked at different manufacturers but kept coming back to Garmin. Looked at a couple different Garmins and settled on this one. No regrets ...
Pros: Colorful screen, accurate, water resistant, it floats, quick to find signals. Cons: Confusing menu, difficult to configure, all the extras required to actually use.
I have always used Garmin products both on the road and on the water. Sadly after my boat was stolen last year I need to buy a quick replacement Marine GPS to substitute for the onboard GPSMAP 3010C that was of course stolen with it. Needing something ...

I just upgraded from an eTrex Legend. My wife got me this for my b-day. This thing is freaking awesome! There is a slight learning curve but for the most part once you know a garmin you can get through it. The day I got it I just had to take it on ...
Pros: Display, Features, Time to Locate Itself Cons: Mapping Detail, Cost of Additional Software
This is my second Garmin. The first one I wore out was an eTrex Legend. The screen was starting to go out on it after a few thousand miles of use and abuse, so I was eager to replace it with a new color model. The 76CSx has some really neat ...
Pros: Top of the line, dependable full featured GPS Cons: Expensive supporting software.
This is about the 5th or 6th GPS that I've owned. I use the GPS for driving instructions, Geocaching, traveling and hiking / outdoor activities. The 76 CSx is an upgrade from the 76 CS. The primary documented upgrade from the CS to the CSx is the ...
Pros: Color screen, tracking feature Cons: Garmin software
I work as a Park Ranger in one of our mountain Parks. I’m involved in creating fuel breaks so when the next “big “fire hits our area, our parks will be somewhat safer. I have the older 76 model, but noticed the extra features that the ...
Pros: Accurate Great maps for boating Cons: Terrible maps.
I have used this sparingly for the last two years. I find its use in boating in the island of the Carribean to be very good. It is very accurate.
My only complaint is the extra cost of the maps and the fact that routing on the provided software and the unit is terrible. It will be tracking along an interstate and tell you to get off, go through several side streets and then get back on. I pointed it from Denver to LA - all on freeway and it routed me 70 miles off of the freeway line.
