Pros: Good performance, feature loaded, durable in most regards, easy to read, electronic compass. Cons: No way to disable barometric altimeter, kinda ugly, expensive maps
Explore new worlds, see new vistas, and experience new adventures This unit is Garmin's high-end handheld GPS receiver. I'll start by saying that I do regret buying it and that I wish I had bought one of the Magellan units instead. However that ...

Pros: Small, light weight, good (but not excellent) reception, great battery life, reasonable price. Cons: Low quality base map, wish the screen were slightly larger, not good for driving.

Pros: Large, bright display. Just-right form factor. Easy to learn (with or without the manual). Cons: Pretty basic package; you'll likely need to buy an accessory or two.
12/22/2006: I'm someone who "tries first, reads user manual second." With my new Garmin eTrex Vista Cx, I have yet to spend any serious time with the owner's manual, yet I have learned how to use many of its features, just by using it. Between uses, I ...
