Pros: Small size, clear graphics Cons: Sometimes gives ther wrong directions, difficuty downloading updates, not enough notice given on turns.
This unit stranded me in the country on my way to a wedding when it was able to identify the address of the destination, but it sent me down the wrong roads miles from my intended destination. I ended up late for the wedding. I guess I had too much faith ...

Pros: easy menu, fun voices, very small, restaurant and lodging feature Cons: small keyboard, hard to disconnect, doesn't always work
I recently took a trip from Toledo to Chicago using this Garmin. It was purchased by my dad because he feels the need to own the newest gadgets, even though he doesn't usually use them. (This is why my 60 year-old parents own the Wii with MarioKart and ...

Pros: Easy to use Excellent Features Cons: none
When the GPS systems first came out, I was not only mis-informed but I was very skeptical. My fiance brought one home for me a few months ago. I reluctantly used it at first, just to be nice. After exploring the contraption, I decided it was pretty ...

Pros: Fantastic GPS device Cons: The newest roads don't exist
The Garmin Nuvi 350 is a GPS device for your motor vehicle. When we first got one, I was sort of old school in my thinking. Why did we need this? I have been getting around fine for years by word of mouth, or by simply using a map. The Garmin Nuvi ...

This trucker says it's the best investment I made
by yellowtang ,Nov 12 '06
Pros: small and thin, tough, glass clamp is great, and the touch screen works great Cons: 5-6 hour battery life
I started a new job driving a truck and the employer didn't give me maps to the 20 stops I had to make each day. So I bought one of these and life is easy. I love all the extra stuff it gives you like , rest areas, fuel stops, restaurant, calculator, measurement converter, currency converter, it also is a MP3 player and has audible book player for those long trips.
If your a trucker these is the unit to get. Only because this unit has truck routes installed in it, also it does Mexico and Canada. Most of the GPS units out there don't have the information we need installed in it.
The unit does have a short battery life only about 6 hours if that but it does come with a 12 volt charger.

Wonderful Traveling Companion
by hdtravel ,Jun 03 '07
Pros: Small, extensive basemap, plays mp3 files, audio books, photo viewer, SD Card slot Cons: None at all
If a product could be described as perfect the Nuvi 350 fits the bill.
It is easy to use and provides excellent mapping, routing, and other capabilities.
The unit is very small and light and yet puts the entire USA at your fingertips. Truly amazing !!
I love the ability to add POI's from the hundreds of files available for free online. Whatever you are into there is a POI list you can upload to your Nuvi 350. Slick !
The industry standard SD card slot is a very nice feature as SD cards are the least expensive format of memory cards and can be picked up for very low prices. The mp3 player, audible book player, and photo viewer are very nice perks.
The unit is not only great for the car, but also very useful while walking, cycling and for use on airplane flights. On the plane you can listen to music, listen to audible audio books and watch the progress and route of your flight (window seat recommended).
I bought my Nuvi 350 brand new at Target for $249.00 in Albuquerque.
Highly recommended. What are you waiting for ?

Tried two other GPS units then got the Nuvi and love it!
by msabgeo ,Oct 23 '06
Pros: Very portable, can easily fit into a purse or pocket. Clear, precise directions. Cons: Limited to one way point on route.
We wanted to get a GPS unit and tried two other units before getting out Consumer Reports and going with the Nuvi they recommended. We find it works very well, and the voice prompts are timely and easy to understand - although it does pronounce a couple of streets differently than the "Locals". We bought a second mounting bracket and dashboard disks so that the unit can be easily moved from one vehicle to the other (we leave the mounting hardware attached to the dash). It's great in the vehicle but also very good when in a strange area for walking around to sightsee.
We have and will continue to recommend this unit to friends and family.

Think Twice - Cool Package but delivers Bad Directions!
by coconutstoo ,Apr 24 '07
Pros: Slick touch screen features - intuitive and easy to use. Cons: Mapping tool makes incorrect turns and Shortest/Fastest time features doesn't deliver direct driving routes.
I am so unhappy with this product. I've used it for 3 trips in the past week and it has taken me completely off route each time. Once it even led me into a very very bad neighborhood (think crack houses and burned out streets), rather than continuing to keep me on a major interstate highway which had an exit directly at the town I programmed the Nuvi to visit. I've adjusted all the settings per the on-line manuals, but it still underperforms in delivering accurate directions - Google Maps, Yahoo Maps and Mapquest are far better routing tools and not once did the Nuvi use a quick and direct route. I paid over $400 for it and it not worth $10 if it can't deliver accurate safe directions. I researched products for a month before making this purchase and I am very unhappy with my decision.

Incredible GPS
by sandie115 ,Dec 11 '07
Pros: small, bright and battery lasts a long time Cons: voice pronounces exactly what is printed, Espy is expressway but says espy.
This is the 3rd GPS I have bought, second one for me. My first was a StreetPilot III which I loved but was heavy and was not good for taking in your pocket and using on a walk. The Nuvi 350 is great no complaints and does what it says it will. Bright screen.

You don't need the extras it doesn't have
by trewornan ,Jul 23 '07
Pros: Small, light, minimalist. Cons: Too much warning of turns, you can turn early by mistake if you're not careful.
I travel a lot on business, often to places I've never been before and eventually decided I was wasting too much time trying to find places. I'd never realised how much I needed a GPS until I had one.
The truth is any GPS would provide much the same benefit so why buy this one, well why buy a more expensive model when this does everything you need. It'll take you from A to B with no hassle. I especially wouldn't pay more for a larger screen the screen on the 350 is perfectly adequate. I don't need stupid stuff like the ability to pipe my mobile phone through my GPS, create waypoints, etc.
I particularly love the size - a lot of colleagues have tom-toms which seem like half bricks in comparison, the 350 slips into a pocket like it's hardly there.
What's the competition? Bigger, heavier, more expensive, more "functions" that I'd never use. Go with this one it's fantastic.

Worth the money...but far from perfect
by adstan7 ,Jan 22 '07
Pros: small Cons: maps take a while to load, can be extremely frustrating
My husband and I bought this product because we were moving from Texas to Philadelphia and thought we would feel more comfortable driving if we had navigation. I would not recommend using it while you are traveling long distances (ie. from Texas to Pennsylvania). It will drive you crazy. For example, it will tell you to get off the freeway, drive in town for a while and get back on the same freeway you were previously on! Trying to find restaurants and motels will also drive you crazy...just use the road signs off the freeway. We also used the product in downtown Philadelphia, and it was worthless. It was telling us to turn the wrong way down one way streets. The most frustrating part was after it told us to turn the wrong way on the one way and we didn't, the voice would say re-calculating over and over which got really annoying. There was a time when I wanted to throw the thing out the window. However, now that we are using it in the suburbs surrounding Philadelphia it works good. We have been able to find whatever we wanted and not get lost.

bad! very bad gps. bad speakers. bad directions. bad satellite reception
by kaptenbarbel ,Jul 05 '07
Pros: it looks good when it's off. Cons: very slow. freezes. gets confused. bad speakers. bad directions. overpriced piece of junk.
Today, I am returning this nuvi 350 to the online site i bought it from. I'm paying a 10% fee for restocking, i guess, but i don't mind. It's better than being with this product. If you're reading this, then heed my word, do not buy this gps. I guess the other reviewer was right, the good reviews you see about this product are written by employees of garmin.
This gps gave me bad directions to and from work. The speakers are so bad. Either you cannot hear it, or the sound is garbled when you turn it up. It would sometimes get confused and after a while, it would just freeze. After two days of frustration, I am just happier to have the thing turned off. And today, I'm a happy man because i'm finally returning this piece of gps junk.

compact, reliable, pricey but worth it
by jtomorrow ,Dec 14 '06
Pros: compact, quick response on rerouting, clear display, loud speaker, also mp3 player, picture player, etc. Cons: pricey but worth it. The connection to the window is too bulky
I am a road warrior so I am continuously being sent to different states. I have had multiple GPS systems. This system is very responsive, compact and resilient. There is a new model that talks to the car radio. The voice prompts are very clear. The attachment to windshield is too bulky so I just hang it by flip antenna onto the top of the visor.
