compact, reliable, pricey but worth it
by jtomorrow ,Dec 14 '06
Pros: compact, quick response on rerouting, clear display, loud speaker, also mp3 player, picture player, etc. Cons: pricey but worth it. The connection to the window is too bulky
I am a road warrior so I am continuously being sent to different states. I have had multiple GPS systems. This system is very responsive, compact and resilient. There is a new model that talks to the car radio. The voice prompts are very clear. The attachment to windshield is too bulky so I just hang it by flip antenna onto the top of the visor.

Good support
by larry02 ,Mar 26 '07
Pros: Compact, battery powered, European Maps available, Travel Guide, customer support, useful suction cup mount. Cons: Silver color housing reflects off the windshield sometimes. Black case would have been better.
Had issues with an unreadable card which was over one year old, and they made great efforts to ship me at no charge a replacement card overnight, which I received just in time for my trip.

Watch out for Refurb
by dereklee2 ,Dec 18 '07
Pros: Recalculates route, and a slew of other features! Cons: Refurb units bite the dust.
Don't get me wrong, I love this product.
However, here are the peeves:
Driving down a freeway, in crowded traffic, the Garmin will say, "in 0.8 miles, take ramp, on left, to ---", and I'm in the right lane. Ok, a little more warning please!
The next and last peeve. My refurb unit went white-screen-of-death in 3 months, just, all of a sudden when turning it on. Good thing recert has 1? year warranty. Problem is, the unit that was returned to me had the SAME PROBLEM!! Right out of the box too!!! Man, I called them up quick and they apologized (gotta love the US tech support vs India - you get what you pay for), and they covered the return shipping so I could get a new refurb.
So, I'm on like my 3rd one, lol.

love nuvi, hate car mount
by scatman912 ,Oct 02 '06
Pros: ease of use, audible books, picture viewer, SD slot. Cons: car mount a joke, speaker underpowered and distorts.
great product. i love the size. put it in your shirt pocket and you can find your way around lower manahttan. picture viewer is a crowd pleaser on vacation.
my major gripe is the insane car mount! it's a cynical product that will make your nuvi bounce around the interior of your car. it simply cannot handle the weight. insane. do yourself a favor and order a proper mount from RAM systems for 35 bucks. for this kind of money i expect better.

Won't leave home without it!
by angela511 ,Nov 12 '07
Pros: Compact, bright screen, accuracy, touch-screen, user-friendly. Cons: Short battery life, slow processing time, and occasional trouble with acquiring satellite.
I bought this for my husband's birthday. He wasn't sure at first, because he's not a "gadget guy." After one trip using it though, he was hooked. It's compact, light, portable, accurate, and extremely user friendly. I have used it a number of times, and I was amazed that I could get places I had gone before much more quickly. It allows you to choose between faster time or shorter distance. The voice commands are clear, but if needed, you can easily switch to written directions. There is a place to store your favorites, so no need to enter them again. There is an expansion slot for additional memory if needed. I've use it on the ground and even in the air to see current location and ground speed. The only trouble I've had was in Atlanta. It had difficulty acquiring a satellite signal. I'm guessing it was the tall buildings interfering. The other thing is slow processing. If you know the exact location name, it processes quickly. But if you type in only a partial name, you'll get a list of everything in the U.S., and that takes a little longer to process.

The best of the lot!
by stusim ,May 22 '06
Pros: The best of the lot. I highly recommend it. Cons: Be able to choose type of directions e.g.fastest or shortest each time.
I have tried several hi end GPS & this star outshines them all. After being disappointed by several others, I saw Costco offering a $150 gift card over the $799 price.Knowing they were coming out with a 360 in June didn't matter, since it only offered Blue which I already have in my car. The setup is easy, the voice & screen is very clear. In almost a month of use I never waited more than 2 minutes to pick up a satellite (even in my garage). The directions were 99% accurate. Tech support is excellent. I had trouble downloading the new software & they walked me right threw it(in American English). I would recommend downloading the manual. The only problem I've had was it appears the dash moun't doesn't like the Florida heat & it fused to the craddle & couldn't be seperated. But they peomptly sent me a new craddle & disk. The only recommendation I can make is I would prefer to have the option to choose what kind of directions I prefer each time rather than having to go into settings. I would highly recommend this navigation system.

Good, but not great
by glindahl ,Jul 28 '06
Pros: Great on audio and visual directions. Easy to operate. Cons: Dim Screen, Inaccuracies, Battery life, inability to provide more choices for food, attractions, etc.
In reading other reviews, I thought this would be a great product. What I found was a shortage of choices. There were times we were looking for a place to eat, chose one and then drove past others not listed. If you entered an address, it was usually good at getting you through each and every turn and right to the door. But, we also found times where it didn't give you the correct turn. We were lucky, twice on our way to a hotel, it gave us a wrong turn, but we saw the hotel and made the needed turn. There are also times when you try to enter an address and it won't accept it. When driving in sunlight the screen becomes hard to see. Of course, the need for sunglasses only makes it worse. This product is O.K., but not worth the money it costs, I'm bringing mine back and looking for something better. If need be, I'll wait until these items are improved.

Great gps!
by monstertiki ,Jun 03 '06
Pros: Small, fast, easy to use, plays mp3's, and views photos. Cons: Could have longer battery life and a more impact resistant shell, expensive.
After reading several reviews and seeing some gps's in action, I decided to purchase the nuvi 350. The nuvi 350 has exceeded all of my expectations as far as what I believed a gps should do. It has a very easy to use touch screen interface, recalculates routes very fast, can be used to view photos, plays mp3's which is a nice feature when you dont have an mp3 player handy, and is close to the size of a deck of cards.
The few things I didn't like are not really a big issue as one of those things was battery life when I play mp3's. This is no biggie though, because the nuvi's primary role is to be used as a gps inside my car. I guess i'm just spoiled due to the 12+ hours a dedicated mp3 player gives me.

Great things in a small package
by iluvgadgets ,Dec 29 '05
Pros: Very cool, cutting edge, gadget! Very portable, great screen resolution, and user-friendly. Cons: Volume could be louder. Tech support hard to get through to on the phone.
Since I travel frequently for work, I decided to purchase my first GPS. I had heard horror stories about how bad some of them could be so I researched many of the more popular units. The Nuvi 350 is relatively new so there wasn't a lot of information on it yet. I decided to make the major investment (pricey)and received a few days ago. It is very user-friendly and works straight out of the box. It is so small that it packs easily in a suitcase but not so small that the screen can't be seen. It has a lithium-ion battery so you can carry it in your hand. There is supposed to be a POI loader on the website to download additional POI's but I can't find it. Right now I am on hold with Garmin tech support and have been on-hold for a while but other than that, this has been a great unit.

It was well worth the investment
by consumereve ,Jul 24 '06
Pros: portable, lightweight, easy to use, accurate Cons: pricey, not easy to hold while walking needs a wrist strap
I purchased the Garmin Nuvi after doing extensive research on portable GPS units. I purchased it because I need to be able to get to locations easily to meet with clients. The Nuvi has provided excellent performance on each test drive that I took it on. I recently traveled to Tampa FL and the Nuvi provided complete and accurate driving directions. I was so happy I had it with me. I have tested the Nuvi while walking and it provided great direction but it was not easy to hold while walking. I was nervous that I would drop it. Overall I am completely satisfied with the Garmin Nuvi. I am going to purchase the travel guide, and the English to French software, because I think that will really enhance our travel experience. I have not downloaded any music or audio books to the MP3 player on the Nuvi, but I imagine that will also enhance the travel experience also. Overall I am quite happy with this light weight personal travel GPS
