by treyghs , Aug 14 '02
Pros: Huge Screen; Customer Service; 3d Video Processor
Cons: Heavy; Not as fast as it seems like it should be for the price tag
I am a college student and wouldn't have such a nice computer if it weren't for good scholarships. This illustrates a very key point concerning this machine: It is very expensive. All told I payed gateway almost $3000 including accessories, a 3 year...

Great Performance for a Great Laptop

by tgorham82 , Sep 02 '04
Pros: Gorgeous screen, speed, expandability.
Cons: Some outdated features, heavy, terrible speakers, battery life.
I bought this machine in May of 2003, so I have had a lot of experience with it. I was just about to start my freshman year of college. Last year I attended Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota, one of the best computer schools in the ...

Cons: *Very heavy *Badly placed speakers *Easily undone latch *only USB 1.1 *Can get expensive
I am an architecture student at Harvard, in my last semester of school. I faced the problem of having purchased my last computer three years ago, and wanting to complete my highly computing-based education on something better than a P-III 800, but at...

Gateway 600L: As much firepower as can possibly be infused in a laptop

by cerberus435 , Nov 16 '02
Pros: Powerful, packed with features, huge screen, great value
Cons: Bigger and heavier than most, but that's expected of a desktop replacement
The Gateway 600L is GW's latest offering in the desktop replacement category. It is the base model of the 600 series, which includes the 600X and the 600XL. My 600 came with these features:

Processor:

Intel Pentium 4 M @ 1.6 Ghz...

by triviaguru , Aug 07 '02
Pros: speed, memory, performance

As a student heading off to college in the fall, buying a computer was an important decision. Desktop or Notebook? PC or Macintosh? I've always used desktops in the past, but decided to go for the laptop this time around because of the added...

Pros: Service was great!!!
Cons: Speakers under palms, but I don't use them anyway

Is it really worth it?

by anth120 , Jan 29 '03
Pros: Huge Screen, Fast Processor, Good Sound, Decent Video Card, abundant memory and hard drive
Cons: Customer Support, No S-Video, 2 hour battery life, sluggish hard drive speed
Since I first got this computer, it has been nothing but problems. First, the computer freezes when you put it to sleep. You put it to sleep, and upon waking up, it freezes! This is very aggrevating, and after about 6 tech support calls and a visit to a...

Great PC from a "Not So Great Company"!

by robbyrash , May 20 '03
Pros: FAST! Great screen.
Cons: Heavy!
I have had this PC for about a month now and I can give you the low-down. About 50% of my time is spent on the road so I needed a desktop replacement. This is it (to a point). If you have it hid behind your monitor with the port replicator plugged in,...

mean machine, oh yea...
by rastaone ,Oct 25 '03
Pros: Fast, DVD player a plus, Good wireless system, great big screen
Cons: Kind of heavy, but I don't care. nothing else
I was looking for a low cost laptop that had the power and O/S to be quick. I ended up with a gateway 600XL loaded with win XP Pro and a 2.4 gh CPU. It does everything I wanted, including a great DVD player/CD burner. It was a "class A refurb", so that's the low cost. Just a great system: i would buy another any time.
