This is an embarassement for GE. Get this product off the market. I know that it is CHEAP but don't insult my intelligence. I have had inexpensive answering machines before that have lasted many years and AT&T is my last one. Just wish I could find another like it. I only purchased it 5 hours ago and will return it to the store tomorrow. The voice goes in and out and difficult to understand. Have tried repeatedly to set the time and it is impossible.

Pros: Cheap. Responds well to baseball bat therapy.
Cons: Doesn't work with DSL line filters. Horrible audio quality.

You get what you pay for, indeed. This answering machine does not work over a dsl/broadband filter. And if you hook it up to your line without the filter, the already poor sound quality gets worse.
Steer clear of this glorified junk.
I have had good luck with the wired GE phones, so i bought their compatible answering machine to save some $$ instead of getting answer service with my service provider. It was a mistake. A waste of 35 bucks CAD.

Pros: it has all the features that anyone needs even a prerecorded message
Cons: I'm sure i can call from an outside line but don't know how

I wish I had read these reviews before I bought this machine. I recently got DSL service and the answering machine has been giving me problems ever since. Some calls just wont come in, and the sound quality which was never great to begin with really become awful. You do get what you pay for.
