Pros: Speedcook (if recipe preprogrammed) Cons: Reliability poor Fire hazard Impossible to clean Baffling controls
I have owned this product for about 3.5 years now, it came in the appliance package with my new house. The best thing I can say about it is that it has not burned the house down despite its best efforts.I have had the same TCO fuse problem ...
Pros: It looks good. Cons: We are on a first name basis with our service tech and it doesn't work.
We have had our Advantium 120 for 2.5 years now, and could not be less impressed. Within a year of installation, we notice the door beginning to crack. We contacted our service company, who told us the problem was cosmetic, and thus not covered. When ...
Like previous review, the door handle on our Advantium oven has broken. It breaks like clockwork every 6 months or so. In fact it has broken four different times, necessitating that the entire door be replaced. Given our family's usage pattern we ...
Pros: Easy to install. Works very well . Beautiful design and finish. Lower-than-expected price. Cons: Switching glass and metal cooking plates inside is a pain, unavoidable.
Let's be clear: I have the GE Advantium model SCA1000HBB 04 manufactured in July 2008. It's black, and also has the product name Profile on the front. It's a 120-volt unit. I designed a teeny tiny new custom kitchen (with all teeny tiny high end ...
Pros: Easy install, great microwave function, good convection oven for roasting Cons: Speedcook feature is not up to par. Dial control is cumbersome.
Convergence products are those cool ideas that blend two or three functions in one unit. In this case, GE combined a microwave oven, convection oven and radiant heat halogen cook unit in a single, 110V, over the range unit. I bought this because we ...
Pros: A functional second oven over the stove, fast cooking. Cons: Reliability concerns.
My wife loves our Advantium, but it failed like many others described in this forum... complete shutdown at about 1.5 years of light use... no pun intended! I traced the problem to an overheated Oven Cavity TCO, as described by DTM in his post. This ...
Pros: None Cons: Service call to change a light bulb every two months; poor GE customer service.
I cannot believe that I have not seen any complaints or comments regarding the problem I am experiencing with my expensive Advantium 120. I bought my oven in 11/05 and within two months the microwave light went out. I pulled out my manual to see how to ...
Pros: Novel "speed cooking" method for those willing to learn something new Cons: Handle breaks off, who cares how fast it cooks if you can't open the door!
Handle broke off -completely- twice in about 2 years. Under normal- and not rough - albeit everyday use. First time handle broke off (oven was 13 months old) GE would not pay to fix but sent free handle for me to install or get installed myself (gee ...
Pros: Convenience and flexibility Cons: Poor Customer Service, appears to be faulty design and heat shielding of electronics.
We purchased the Advantium 120 Microwave in November of 2003. Thoroughly enjoyed the unit until December of 2004. At which time the unit appeared to have lost power and would not work. Contacting GE we were disappointed to learn that even though our ...
I just wanted to share with you something that I wish I had looked into before I purchased my GE Advantium 120. I also included some GE parts help for those of you who already (and unfortunately) own this oven. If you really want to buy a GE ...
Pros: Crispy fries in 15 minutes, baking a righteous pizza in 12 minutes. Cons: It's really going to kill me taking this to the dump next week.
Gave us 14 months of trouble-free use - great microwave/convection stove and more UNTIL last week when I was baking fish at 450 degrees, five minutes - total failure, no lights, no beeps, nothing, nada. Fuses checked, no problems; replaced thermistor (I read about this tip right here on epinions), no go. Now its crunch time... do I spend the $100 and have a service guy come out and tell me I have to spend $150 on parts? Parts are $$$ - this tiny thermistor ran me $40. Or, do I step down, learn a lesson and go for a more reasonably priced microwave, stovetop fan combo (about $250 and new...
It was fun while it lasted, but it didn't last long enough to justify the price. I loved all the gizmo-type stuff this thing could do, but what I miss the most right now is a microwave. Two thumbs down.
Pros: Cooks super fast Cons: Keep a spare bulb handy, they are cheap.
I have owned this product for almost 5 years and the only problem that I have encountered (with a family of 6) is that the transistor made some noise, which was promptly replaced. I love and will definitely own another. I wish I could get the 260 version!
Pros: Features and internal menu on how to cook items. Cons: Door design and handle quality.
This GE product has a couple of design problems GE refuses to admit. The handle breaks off because of the tension on the door set at the factory is too high. The quality of the plastic handle can be significantly improved. Unfortunately, there is nothing like this unit available from other brands. It does cook as advertise. My wife loves all the features and uses most of them. The second problem is the turntable motor. Do not allow liquids to seep down the center. Keep the unit clean and there should be no serious problems with this item. But the door must be opened!! You can do little but be careful about this issue.
More than I expected, awesome product by gatorteeth ,Mar 09 '05
Pros: I can't think of anything more than i said above. Cons: None that i can think of.
There are a couple bad reviews on here, and like anything that is manufactured, there's bound to be a lemon once in awhile. Food cooks four times faster than traditional oven using "speedcook" function. Browns food beautifully. Vegetables have an extremely fresh taste when cooked with speedcook function. Can also use as a microwave or conventional oven. < I didn't realize I could use as a conventional oven, till we brought it home. I had to get online to learn how to use convection cooking, but everything turns out great. This is super and I LOVE mine.
