  • GE Profile JVM1790 Convection Microwave: Two Ovens in One

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community

Pros: Takes up little space; Good microwaving ability; costs less than buying each appliance seperately
Cons: Can burn food; End of cycle beep too quiet; Controls not very intuitive

Summary: Microwave ovens are considered an essential appliance, but in spite of their popularity, convection ovens are still necessary and still in style. Most homes contain separate ovens for each purpose, but there are some appliances that combine both ... read more

Pros: Easy to use controls; affordable; attractive design; excellent performance.
Cons: None so far; stay tuned.

Summary: None of us (except the uber-rich, who have enough money to ride the whole thing out) are immune to the economic downturn it seems.  My wife and I had decided to put our house on the market this spring, but decided not to when the numbers just didn't ... read more

Pros: 99% or nearly everything!  Power, functions, versatility, speed and construction.
Cons: The Beeper volume STINKS!  Even set on high it is not sufficient.
    VERY disappointed with this.

Summary: Everything that it is supposed to do, it does!  And wonderfully so.  I looked and I looked for a reasonably priced Convection Microwave and this GE model not only does ALL that I wanted, it is also inexpensive as compared to ALL of its ... read more

Pros: Have not operated product yet, waiting for one that fits.
Cons: Have not operated product yet so hopeing GE will correct problem.

Summary: Purchased JVM1790 to fit over GE Cafe Range. Back of appilance, top to bottom, measures 16 7/16 as specs said it would. Front measures 15 3/4 so when screwed to top of flat bottom cabinets, 3/4 " of unfinished cabinet shows..Could have cabinet maker

Pros: Functions as both or either microwave or convection/comination oven.  1000 watt power.
Cons: Poorly designed controls. Defrost cycle cooks edges of foods

Summary: This model was purchased to replace previous version that was still working after 17 years, but did not match new stove. We've had it for a couple of months. We are very good amateur cooks, regularly cooking sophisticated meals even for regular weeknight
