Pros: Very helpful customer service representatives; reasonably good cellular service. Cons: Text messages are not included in the plan.

Pros: Customer Service Reps are generally good and patient. Wide area for GSM coverage. Cons: Poor computer systems. They will break their contract with you.
I switched to Cingular cell phone service after being a Cricket customer for four years. I changed because Cricket could not offer me at the time a family plan, and I needed a third phone. At the time in April 2005, I compared prices of Cricket to ...
Let me start off by saying that I am not a Cingular customer by choice. I was an AT&T customer for years until the merger landed me on Cingular's rolls. Let me go a bit beyond and say that I was a HAPPY AT&T customer. A SATISFIED customer. That ...
Pros: Friendly, easy to deal with, responsive Cons: Hold times can be upwards of 10 minutes
I have had Cingular since November of 2005 in the New England area. To place my initial order, I had to call Cingular sales, who easily led me through signing up for my plan and ordering my phone. My first experience with customer service did not come ...
Pros: Not much -- phones were free? Cons: Just about everything.
As long-time AT&T Wireless/Cingular customers, we decided last week to make the switch to a Cingular Family Talk, upgrade our existing equipment, and add a couple new lines and equipment. On-line attempts to upgrade our equipment and keep our existing ...
Pros: roll over minutes, nice customer service people Cons: all other aspects of being a wireless phone customer
Being a Cingular customer was a daily nightmare; truly a torturous experience. We (4 family members) were unable to use our phones 75% of the time (at least)regardless of the time or day of the week. We had Nokia 1100's and had to have 13 replacement ...

Some days I'm impressed with their great and broad service, then I talk to customer service and I feel like its the Twilight Zone. They have failed repeatedly to follow through on changes to my account, have some of the worst attitudes (I'm one who says ...
Pros: Good coverage area, low-cost-pay-as-you-go plans Cons: Deceptive reps in stores, high pressure sales, perks not honored, TERRIBLE customer service
I was a Suncom customer many years ago and held on to the account through the transition with AT&T and through the merger with Cingular. I have had the continuing account about 7 years. I'm a relatively low use customer, using my phone mostly for ...
Pros: They have a 30-day grace period, glad I got out in time! Cons: Rude customer service. Deceptive billing. Looooong hold times.
A little less than a month ago I switched from Verizon to Cingular because I was switching companies. I was reluctant to go with Cingular because of ATT's greater involvement, but was enticed by the better offer that they had. So I signed up through ...
Pros: The SALES people are very friendly and reassuring. Cons: Airtight contract; rude, condescending managers if you disagree with them; SATISFACTION NOT GUARANTEED!!!!!
The first time that I had service with Cingular was in Houston, TX. When I chose my service plan, the sales person put my plan into the computer wrong. One month later, after going on vacation, I was slammed with a GIGANTIC bill due to roaming ...
Pros: coverage is ok Cons: Unauthorized Charges to Bill Several times to call customer service to get resolved.
Couple things I dislike about cingular wireless. I currently have both a cellular phone and wireless data card with Cingular in West Virginia. The quality of the cellular phone service (actual data or call quality is ok) but Cingular's customer ...
Pros: Coverage and price of wireless plan Cons: TERRIBLE customer service
I was happy with their wireless plan itself, but Cingular wireless CUSTOMER service is the worst I've ever experienced. Every time THEY made a mistake, it would end up costing ME an excessive amount of time on the phone to get them to fix it. I will ...
Pros: rollover minutes, 1 year expiration on a $100 prepaid credit Cons: hidden charges, unhelpful customer service, minutes equaling send to end time instead of talk time
I must admit they have some decent plans, but I just remember having had to make many frustrated calls to their customer service for various issues. First time was to get an erroneous charge removed, the second time was for a voicemail notification that ...
Pros: ATT family plan was a good one Cons: changes made without our knowledge, CS reps aren't well trained. Have to double check everything!
Essentially, we were on ATT and they were bought out by Cingular. Assured that our ATT plan would be honored. However we couldn't buy new phones unless we signed up for 2 more years with Cingular and their family plan wasn't as good. So we stuck it ...
Pros: Rollover minutes
clarity of calls
decent phone offerings Cons: rate plans are not as good as I had with T Mobile

Merger Failure - billing problems by casademack ,Jul 31 '06
Pros: Rollover Cons: Billing hassles every month. Frequent need to contact ineffective customer service.
If you are considering Cingular, I would not buy it unless you like hassles every month.
Ever since the merger between AT&T and Cingular/SBC, I have not consistently gotten my Cingular bills. I am trying to properly manage my wireless account but have no way of doing that without copies of my bills. A couple of months ago I got 3 months worth of bills and a letter saying "Opps, our billing system is screwed up!" I then had to pay for the 3 months immediately. I even got a disconnection notice for non-payment of the bills I never got.
Just today I noticed I have gotten three e-mails in 3 days that say my Cingular bill is available for viewing. Of course it is not. Since the merger my Cingular bill is now at AT&T.com, but it is not. It is nowhere to be found.
Just last week I called them and they said they would send out a copy of my bill immediately. I haven't gotten it.
Cingular is a mess. You should consider a different Cell Service.

Pros: Rollover minutes. Cons: All sales, no service. No customer empathy. Will charge first and deal with questions later
We were so disappointed in the customer service lack of empathy that we decided to go to another service when our contract was up.
Made the mistake of transferring one of the phone numbers five days too early. Instead of maintaining the normal charge through the end of the billing period, we were slapped with the $250 early cancellation. FIVE DAYS!! off of the two years contracts. We don't feel that we formally canceled the account.
So be careful out there, or you could pay more. Look closely at your billing cycle. Don't expect any hardware service for your phone, they don't do that at all.
You can depend on expensive reconnect charges, so stay on top of your billing.
Pros: They had some excellent plans at very good rates. You could call internationally. Cons: I think I said it above.
I had originally been with AT&T, and when cingular merged with them my service went downhill. I started getting a ridiculous amount of dropped calls, I had to lay in a certain position on my bed in my room in order to get a signal to talk. AT&T was a great service, now Cingular is horrible! I have had a cell phone for the past eight years, been through numerous providers and phones, and Cingular by far has some of the worst reception I have ever had.
Totally worthless experience by fstbck66 ,May 11 '06
Pros: Phone variety Cons: Customer Service is an oxymoron with them. Retail stores, salespeople.
I was with Cingular years ago. Then, I couldn't get a CS person to wait on me when I wanted to upgrade my plan and add a line. So, I walked over to AT&T. Two years later, AT&T folds into Cingular, and I'm back dealing with their pathetic retail outlets.
We're online people, right? So why do you have a *611 customer service rep who is programmed to tell you to go into the retail store to get your SIM replaced, or upgrade your phone, or anything that could be handled (better and faster) via UPS/Fedex/Online? The retail stores are zoos, the counter space is inefficient, and the displays are notoriously un-informative. I actually told the *611 CS rep that if he insisted that I go into the Cingular store to replace my SIM, then I would instead throw the phone away and go to anoter service. Charge me the $20, just don't make me go into the store again! He told me he would send me the SIM, but never did. I gave up and switched carriers.
Pros: Very hard to list any Pros Cons: In store service unreliable and at times, chaotic
February 2007 tried to have our monthly minutes Plan transferred to the Prepaid Plan. We have very little usage and Prepaid is cheaper for us. We wanted a new phone and to keep our existing number. Spent 1 hour 40 minutes in their Store over 3 separate visits and still they couldn't do it.
They were supposed to call me when they had solved the problem - they never did.
Went to T-Mobile and they gave me a new phone, prepaid service, same number within 15 minutes.
Adios Cingular - you may not drop calls, but you can sure drop the ball.
Bottom of the Barrel Customer Service by tonyhale1 ,May 27 '08
Pros: The phone is good. Cons: Everything else: Expect extra charges. Customer service seeks to wear you down by attrition.
I naively thought that, after four years of trouble-free service, upgrading my phone would be an easy experience. I could not have been more wrong. I have been overcharged hundreds of dollars (about $500 so far) based upon false charges, and I have spent at least 8 hrs on the phone to rectify the situation.
Each time I see a new, incorrect charge, and furnish the evidence of the correct contract, they apologize and promise to fix it. Thus far, nothing has been fixed. If promises were enough, I would be very satisfied. Unfortunately, I am left considering what new service to adopt after I sever my contract and absorb the termination fee. At this point, the termination fee is less than the false charges.
Pros: Cingular did refund my purchase cost of phone $150. I like Cingular rollover minute plan. Cons: Cell phone reception is undependable.
After 8 years a customer, I upgraded to the newer GSM network. I live in a masonry home and intially my signal reception was weak, like my older phone. Six month's later I could only make phone calls by the window. Cingular's phone couldn't receive voice mail notification in my home. I received a phone message that my rental property's basement was flooding....5 hours after the call was made. I was at home, with the phone, all day.
I drove across the city of Phila, and at the end of my 35 minute trip it notified me of a voicemail, 45 min after the mail had been received by their voicemail system. Where was the reception?
I purchased a different phone on ebay. Use booster external antenna on my Nokia, and problem seems to be better.
