Pros: Flexing motion, soft shield, stays off baby's tender cheeks, round shape, nice colors. Cons: Pacifier nipple is "open" and you can see the baby's lips around the hole.
Gerber New Traditions Gentle Flex pacifier is "the only pacifier that simulates the motion of mother's nipple during breastfeeding." That's a quote from the package. On the back of the package it says this is the "first and only pacifier that has a ...
Pros: great design, doesn't get spit out, cute Cons: a bit expensive, but not a huge investment!
As a breastfeeding mother I was warned that giving the baby a pacifier too early could negatively affect his latch on the breast so we held off until about 6 weeks. Then I tired to give him the Gerber NUK. It was a lot of work to pop that thing back in ...
Pros: Flexes like the "real thing", Unique design, Picky babies may like it Cons: Price (but well worth it!), Discontinued!
Update: As of March, 2007, Gerber announced that it would be discontinuing the Gentle Flex and replacing it with a silicone Natural Flex pacifier, which only comes in one size. This is a great "binky" to try with breastfed babies or babies who refuse ...
Pros: Silicone, easy-to-hold handle, nice colors, flexible, curves away from baby's face, easy to clean Cons: Expensive, can only find size 2 at pharmacy so far
I will start out with telling you the pros of these pacifiers. I was first drawn to them because of their look...I find them to be absolutely adorable! The design is safe and is sooooo easy to clean. The handle doesn't stick out or dangle, instead ...
Pros: Keeps baby happy, lasts a long time, easy to clean, cute shape Cons: Cost, some people make unwanted remarks about how it looks
When my daughter came home from the hospital, we used Mam pacifiers we had received as a gift. However, they didn't seem to be "cutting it". She would suck for a minute or so and then spit it out. When we were at the pediatricians, I told the nurse about ...
Pros: Duplicates mothers breast perfectly. Cons: more expensive than average pacifier.
The New Traditions pacifier is great. The nipple pops in and out as baby sucks to mimic Mom's breast. They come in a variety of colors and are sold in a blister pack of 2.
I nursed 3 babies and with my last one I used these pacifiers and they...
When my son was first born I started him on the Nuk pacifier and it would keep him occupied for a short amount of time before falling out of him mouth.
I first received the New Traditions pacifier in a...
When my daughter was born I decided to breastfeed her and didn't want her to have nipple confusion by using pacifiers but after a couple of days it seemed as if all I did was nurse her. We tried many different types of pacifiers but she wouldn't keep...
Pros: silicone great for breastfeeding babies Cons: too big, nipple was very long
After all the rave reviews I had heard from other moms on these pacifiers I was very disappointed. My little preemie daughter weighed 5 lb 4 oz when she was born at 34 weeks gestation. She is now over 7 lb (at 6 wks old) and still gags on the very long...
Love this pacifier, so does my daughter! by a_stylist ,Jul 29 '04
Pros: No skin irritation or indentation on sensitive/chubby cheeks! Cons: None
We were given a pack of these for my baby shower along with many of the "traditional" ones. Although they looked a bit odd it made sense that they were most like moms breast. We tried the others and she spit them out or they left terrible marks on her chubby cheeks.
As someone else remarked on, this is a great choice for a baby with skin irritations. My dd too has eczema. This paci calms her without irritating her sensitive skin.
She was also born tongue tied and although she had it fixed a day after birth, the Gerber New Traditions GentleFlex Pacifier helped her to strengthen her sucking.
I will only use them from now on even though they are more expensive, I feel it is worth it.
Finally, A Pacifier She Likes! by madiandemysmom ,Mar 09 '05
Pros: Nipple shaped, flexes like mom's own nipple. Soft, silicone around nipple, feels like mom's breast. Cons: A little big for an infants tiny face.
My breastfed, 3-month old baby loves to suck, but refuses to take a pacifier. If you put one in her mouth, she makes a terrible face, and gags as though she is going to throw up. If you wiggle it long enough, she will finally begin to suck, but as soon as you let go, out it flies. I was becoming desperate, it seemed like I was nursing around the clock because *I* was her pacifier. In desperation, we decided she needed a pacifier more like my own nipple. We came across Gerber's Gentle Flex, which the package said was for breastfed babies. I was ready to try anything. Got it home, boiled it, put it against her lips, and she immediately, without any hesitation, sucked it into her little mouth. Not once did she make a face, gag, or spit it out! She continued to suck, and suck, and suck... and slept for 5 HOURS STRAIGHT!!! I cannot tell you how wonderful this pacifier made BOTH of us feel, and it's only the 1st day!! Tomorrow, I'm off to buy a dozen, just to be sure I have them on hand.
Pros: Flexes like a breast so my breastfed daughter will accept this Cons: I don't like the way it presses against her nose.
My daughter is 4 months old and has been using me as her pacifier since birth. We've tried several pacifiers, different brands, different types, and she would not use any of them. I saw this and thought maybe it would work. And it does! I'm so excited about this! Thank you!
