Pros: Neil Gaiman + Terry Pratchett = funny stuff. Cons: Not quite so amusing when it gets heartfelt and theosophical.

Pros: A good deal of fun Cons: Nothin' really (it can ramble a bit, but meh).
Summary: I wasn't going to let my distaste of American Gods spoil me on Neil Gaiman. After all, there's more out there by Gaiman that I figured I'd ... read more

Pros: Brilliant writing: absurdly real; brilliantly dark; profoundly lighthearted; hilarious. Cons: Just a funny book. (And Old Man and the Sea is just about a fish).
Summary: I've read many thousands of SF/F books. I put this at the apex. For context on my opinion, the quality and depth of the tale is above even: #2. The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams), #3. The Princess Bride (William Goldman), #4. Job: A ... read more

Pros: Makes light of the whole tribulation-novel thing! (May amuse some) Cons: Makes light of the whole tribulation-novel thing! (May offend some)
Summary: After having so much positive feedback on my review of Christopher Moore's "The Stupidest Angel", I figured I MUST now write a review of Gaiman and Pratchett's "Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch". First of all, I am my ... read more

Pros: Funny, dark and fundamentally British. Cons: Humour is intentionally curbed for the sake of the plot.
Summary: In England the Antichrist is about to be born. Unfortunately, thanks to a couple of bumbling Satanic Midwives, the Antichrist has a new name. "Adam" knows nothing of the evil thing he is to become. As Heaven and Hell prepare for Armageddon, their ... read more

Pros: Great Fun! Hilarious! Well Written! Cons: some Americans may not get some British jokes, fans of orthodoxy may be offended
Summary: Readers who are familiar with the name Neil Gaiman know that when they read a book by him they'll get a thoroughly unique and well imagined story with some dark humor thrown in. Readers who are familiar with the name Terry Pratchett know that when ... read more

Pros: Depth, accuracy, humor, and the nagging feeling that something has gone wrong. Cons: Nope.
Summary: What happens when you entrust the apocalypse into the hands of a yuppy demon and an ambiguously gay angel who've had 6000 years to get accustomed to life on earth? The funniest damn version of the end of the world ever written. Rife with humor, Good ... read more

Pros: Incredibly funny- made me laugh out loud. Cons: I wished it was longer
Summary: I'm not exactly sure what it was that made me pick up Good Omens. Not being a big comic fan, the name Neil Gaiman didn't really spark any particular interest, aside from some obscure reference to him in a Tori Amos song (Gaiman writes (wrote?) the ... read more

Pros: Hilarious, great story. Cons: What cons?
Summary: What's not to like about this great book. It's not just funny (by the way it's hilarious), it's also a good story (by the way it's literature) and it deals with a subject. It is a sort of "Satanic Verses" for christianity, but with the usual ... read more

Pros: Dry, witty, observant Cons: Not for fundamentalists
Summary: I've seen this novel described as, "Monty Python's The Omen," and I'd have to say that sums it up nicely. If you love the dry, ironic wit of our cousins across the Pond, you will absolutely love this novel. If, on the other hand, you think ... read more

Pros: Hilarious! Cons: A little too cluttered with scenes and characters, but it's OK.
