Pros: great wet and dry handling, relatively quiet, long tread life Cons: slightly less great handling on snow and ice, or so I've heard
If the truth be told, I was never overly fond of the OEM tires that came on our 2002 Honda CR-V. Those Bridgestone Dueler H/Ts may have been a little more to my liking had I still lived in Colorado's relatively dry climate, but in Texas where I could ...
Pros: Outstanding performance under all road conditions. Cons: N/a
I can’t believe that we have reached fifty thousand miles on our 2003 Chevrolet Impala, but there it is, and so we have. Also the front right passenger side tire had also developed an annoying slow leak that refused to be repaired, despite a few ...
Pros: Great handling 3.5 season sport tire, aggressive good looks, exceptional wet weather performance. Cons: None really, if you need true 'winter' tires look elsewhere.
----- Good-year for new tires --- Since I rarely keep the same vehicle more than 2 years, I've had quite a long-term relationship with my local Discount Tire location. As fate (and Goodyear) would have it, almost every used car I purchase ...
Pros:Excellent tires for the money; superb traction; very good comfort; great tread wear. Cons:None so far.
Not too long ago I purchased new tires for my two Toyota Camrys. On the recommendation of my service repair dealer, I installed Avon tires on both these cars. It wasn't very long before these tires started to show serious wear. The Avons on my older ...
Pros: Traction and handling under all conditions and the quiet comfortable ride. Cons: The price, but I'm glad I paid it.
What an impressive tire. The ride, handling and comfort are all they are built up to be. I had 70,000 miles on my original tires and would have stretched them to the full 80,000 they were rated for if summer had been in front of me instead of winter. ...
Pros: Excellent wet pavement handling, also excellent on dry pavement, and quiet too! 80,000 mile warranty. Cons: Price, as you'd expect, top of the line tires, come with a price to match.

Pros: Handling, low noise, wet weather grip, warranty/tread life. Cons: Expensive initial cost, might not be well matched to those who prefer soft riding tires
I've had two sets of these tires...one on a 2001 Honda Accord and another on a 2005 Mazda MPV. (Which leads me to some interesting comparisons...read on.) In both cases, the TripleTreds have been a significant upgrade over the OE tires. I can comment ...
Pros: Great traction on dry and damp pavement. Cons: Hard to "feel" the road, average traction in puddles/snow, helpless on ice.

Pros: Long tread life
awesome all season performance
Awesome ability to handle all weather conditions Cons: not the best in any one category

Pros: Hydroplane resistant, responsive, quieter, premium tire Cons: kind of expensive, but safety's worth it!

Pros: Excellent snow and rain traction, quiet and smooth. Cons: Price and no history on tire life and all the stuff they kick up.
I replaced a set of Goodyear GA's with these on my 1998 Intrepid. I thought the GA's were good in the foul weather and I was running them at 45 psi for help in the wet, it really does help, but the ride is stiff. My wife didn't trust the GA's in the ...

Pros: quiet ride and great traction Cons: vibrations and defective tires.
I purchased these tires new 1 1/2 years ago. After 15,000 miles, I got a bad vibration. The mechanic stated one tire he could not make balanced, and Goodyear replaced it. Now, after a long trip and 35,000 miles on the van I have a severe ...
Pros: Price. Cons: Poor handling in the rain and fast, uneven tread-wear.

Pros: Great wet weather performance, great tread wear, a reasonable price. Cons: Over time, they become much too noisy. You will learn to hate them.

Pros: Attractive, Good on wet roads. Nothing else pos. Cons: SCAREY BAD IN SNOW. Un-stable!!
Reading all 5 star reviews Ive come to realize most of these reviewers ar running home from their tire store and writing a pos. review. This results in an overall false rating of these tires. Wish I knew this before I used this forum as a source of info ...
Pros: Road noise and handling are great. Price was $491.00 out the door. Cons: Goodyear saying I should get 80,000 miles wear. I now know that won't happen!
Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread wear is questionable. I have 35,000 miles on mine and only 6/32nds left on the tread. Road noise and handling are great but if they don't last long they aren't worth the price!
Pros: The tire is good in the rain and very good in snow. Cons: I do hear a little more road noise....but that's a small price to pay.
I live in CT and drive an 03 Hyundai Elantra. I was looking for a tire that could handle the snow and get me up and down my long sloped driveway without having to sand. This tire has done it! I can now come home from work with snow on the driveway and drive to the top with no problem. With any other all season tire I would have to park at the bottom, snow plow and sand, then take the car up the driveway.
I have had the tries 3 months so don't know how they will wear.
Assurance to wear down the tread quickly by rcr2 ,Aug 28 '09
Pros: Good initial performance Cons: Goes through tread way too quickly
Put on a 2001 Chevy Venture, extended cab. I replaced the original OEM's with these Goodyear TripleTreads. They handled great, gripped the road and I was very happy with them. Less that 15,000 miles later, I had to get them replaced because the treads were all but gone.
Using the warranty, I got 4 brand new tires for a total of $80.. figuring that was a steal and maybe I just had a bad early batch. It's been only 1 1/2 years, and the treads are gone again, and one tiring is leaking.
While the tires impress out of the gate, the tread wear is just too fast on these.
Mixed feelings on Goodyear Assurance Triple Treads by njsaw1 ,Jul 19 '05
Pros: Good wet weather traction. Stylish appearance. Cons: HARD RIDE! Pricey (over $100.00 per tire for H rated Sentra tires)
Bought these tires last summer (2004) and have experienced excellent traction, even in downpours. Tires were a bit pricey. Don't believe in the "extended life" of 60K or 80K tires. How many people really make it that distance without destroying the tires by getting a nail in the tire, tire sidewall rotting or out of alignment tires causing the tire to wear down on one side or the other? Extended mileage claims are not a factor for me because of these things.
The MAJOR PROBLEM I have with these tires is that the ride is very rough. I guess in order to make a 80K tire, a harder compound had to be used, resulting in a "hard" ride.
I would not recommend these tires to anyone concerned with road noise, a bumpy ride or having their CD's skip.
Good luck.
Pros: Good traction Cons: Poor wearing Directional tread not conducive to regular rotations Expensive
This tire did not live up to the 80,000 mile warranty on my Toyota Camry. My mechanic recommended replacement after only ~55,000 miles, andthey would not have passed state inspection requirements. These tire wore horribly, requiring me to have them dismounted and remounted in order to do a proper rotation, even with regular alignments. Not only were the tire expensive, but I was forced to have a mechanic rotate my tires. I'm switching to a cheaper tire with the same warranty.
Triple Tred Assurance and Fortera by ministredetran ,Jun 16 '09
Pros: Quiet and smooth! Cons: Look kind of avant garde!
Bought triple tred Forteras for our Expedition about three years ago, so now have bought Triple Tred Assurances for one of our Mercedes (an E320) Absolutely love them both. Will put them on the E420 when the Goodyear Touring tires need to be replaced. Way to go Goodyear! (Just put Michelin Weatherwise 80,000 mile tires on my daughter's Miata today since Triple Tred Assurances didn't come in 185 65 R14s at Sears.)
Pros: excellent traction and handling Cons: nothing yet
i have a 2001 lincoln continental and needed to replace the michilen tires that came with it. i looked at the goodyear assurance tires and michilen hydroedge. decided to go with the goodyear tires. it came with a better price and all the reviews bragged about the tire. i went with the tripletred tire instead of the comfort edge assurance tire. decided the extra traction was worth losing a little comfort. if the comfort edge has a more comfortable ride, i would be suprised. all the reviews came to pass. the tire is excellent on wet pavement, is quiet and handles great. have not had any real snow in oklahoma yet, so cannot tell if it is a good snow tire. the tred is very different and takes a little getting used to looking at it. when all is said and done, i would recommend this tire to anyone.
Outstanding Winter Performance by defish ,Feb 04 '09
Pros: Super traction in bad weather. Cons: Price. Not cheap but cheaper than a tow.
If you live in any area that sees snow and you don't want to be putting on snow tires every fall, this is the tire for you. I live in western Washington State and put four of these on my Subaru Legacy. December broke records for snow fall here and these tires were magnificent. I was pushing snow up to my front bumper with no problem. We also have occasional heavy rain and these tires never lose their contact with the road. I haven't had them long enough yet to verify their longevity but I would not have anything else on my car for this climate. I only hope that Goodyear is still making them when I finally do need replacements.
Pros: Good handling Cons: Noisier than expected and don't absorb bumps well
The tires have helped the lousy handling of our civic. A big improvement over the Dunlop tires the are OE on this vehicle.
We are in a drought so have not had much chance to drive in wet weather. The one rain we did have was handled well. Fairly expensive , but most of the dealers will price match, so look around. We got a 50 dollar rebate from Tire America and they BEAT (not matched but beat by a wide margin) Sam's Club. The ride seems harsh as I said, and some bumps (like small curbs) seem to go straight through the tire and are not absorbed. Much louder than I expected. I know they are not comfort tred, but I expected a quieter tire. My wife loves them, but as I said it has been all dry driving. She said the car stops better now as well, so that is good.
Great Tires BUT Wear too Quickly by johnnyg63 ,Dec 31 '06
Pros: Excellent tires while they last. Cons: Awful tread wear. Paid about $500 for these tires and they only lasted 20,000 miles.
I put these on a 2004 Toyota Sienna LE (FWD). The tires are great in cornering, braking, ride, wet and moderately snowy conditions. I rotated them every five or six thousand miles and after about 15 thousand miles I noticed that the front tires were showing excessive wear. I'm now at 20 thousand miles and the front tires need to be replaced. I understand that a minivan is likely to have higher tire loads in the front, but it's hard to believe that anyone is getting anywhere near the 80,000 mile claimed warranty. I tried going back to the tire shop (Mavis) to get some kind of pro-rated warranty and was given the usual run around that I would need to provide documentation that the tires were rotated and it would than be up to Goodyear to make the final decision.
Hats off to Goodyear TripleTred engineers! by pussiekat ,Mar 02 '05
Pros: EXCELLENT! Quiet, smooth and provides an effortless ride. Cons: NONE!
I recently needed to purchase new tires for my 95' Honda Accord. I was riding on Yokohama's Touring tires. I intended to buy Yokohama's again. The dealer did not have the tires I needed in stock and recommended the Goodyear TripleTreds. I was apprehensive about buying an American made product. I know how Anti-American but I am being honest. After the salesmen explained the new technology to me and told me his experience with Goodyear tires I went ahead and purchased the TripleTreds. OH MY GOSH, I am TRILLED, I LOVE the TripleTreds. My car looks brand new and now rides like a brand new car. The tires are quiet, smooth and provide an effortless ride and more control taking the corners. Not that I would take the corners at an excessive speed! :-) I was very satisfied with the price. The tires were only $17 more than the Yokohama's and a far superior product. Thank you Goodyear for renewing my confidence in American made products.
Pros: tires handle great around corners and the wet traction is good Cons: Stiff and noisy when you hit the bumps on the road
Goodyear Assurance TripleTred Tire(not the comfort tred version) on a Ford Windstar. Now I know why I got a great price from Goodyear. The tires rattle the mini van when you hit bumps in the road. I think that is what caused my windshield to crack. Get the Comfort Tred verion of the Assurance Tire.
Tread life much less than rated by bk2basics ,Jun 06 '09
Pros: Handles well Cons: Tread life is short
Consumer reports rated this tire highly. They performed well. They just didn't last long. We rotated them regularly but the tread on all four tires wore out after about 40,000 miles. We ran them on our 2004 Toyota Sienna LE
Excellent all season / performance tire by dgcam55 ,Sep 28 '05
Pros: Performance, mileage, excellent traction Cons: Can be pricey at some shops. It pays to shop around.
In short: Excellent all season tire with high mileage that gives up little in the performance arena.
My car: 2003 Subaru Forestor XS
Current Mileage on these tires: approx 10,000 miles
My experinence so far with these tires:
I have had these tires on my car for about 1 year. I have used them through all 4 seasons of weather.
Traction:
The tires are excellent in all weather conditions. Ice, snow, pouring rain are no match for these tires. They are a substantial upgrade to the stock Geolanders that came with the car.
The tires inspire confidence going around corners.
Mileage:
The tires are rating for 80,000 miles, and to date still look new.
Sound:
These tires are not very loud. They are quieter than the original stock Geolander tires that came with the car.
Price:
These tires can be pricey so it pays to shop around. Goodyear does run specials from time to time (buy 3 get one free, rebate offers, ect...).
Goodyear Assurance TripleTred Tire - I Was Not Happy With the Cars Handling by execalert ,Nov 16 '06
Pros: Good handling on wet pavement. Cons: Overall, the car handled poorly and I didn't feel safe driving it.
These tires didn't perform well on my 2003 Honda Accord LX. As soon as I drove away from the tire center, the car pulled to the right. I returned and had the car aligned. It still pulled. I went back two more times; they checked the alignment again and rotated the tires. It still pulled. It would pull so badly, at highway speeds the car would wobble back and forth as I entered a turn. The dealer took the tires off and put new Michelin's back on. The car drove perfect! Also, during a 800 mile trip, my mileage dipped by 2 or 3 miles per gallon.
Wow, what an excellent tire by dtownmatt ,Apr 03 '06
Pros: An excellent balance between ride comfort/feel and performance. The best tire I've ever owned. Cons: None
I own a 98 Honda Accord EX V6 Sedan. My last set of tires were BF Goodrich traction t/a. I normally pay close attention to what Consumer Reports rates as best, but in the case of the bf goodrich they were wrong. I think I may have had defective tires. Anyway, I will never buy BFG's again, these Goodyear Triple Treds are #1 in Consumer Reports and I can see why. I was considering getting a new car cause I didn't really like the way mine was riding. But now after putting these on there's a brand new feel to the ride. These are the best tires I've ever owned. Period. Way to go goodyear.
These are the best Goodyear have made yet!!!!!!!! by smidgett00 ,Feb 07 '07
Pros: Smooth ride, good grip in the rain and snow, aggressive look, and they're from Goodyear Cons: None
My brother works for Goodyear in Florida I asked him about these tires and of course he said you gotta get them and he was right. These tires grip in the rain ,they have an 80,000 mile warranty ,they ride soft when other tires with that big of a warranty ride hard. They look GREAT, they're directional and when they are cleaned and shined they really shine.
Don't buy Goodyear based on the 80K warranty by ronflig ,May 22 '07
Pros: Nice riding tire and "program" Cons: Lousy tread-wear and replacement required after only 30% of rated life
I've been a longtime Goodyear customer and went with the Goodyear Assurance tires paying nearly $500 installed. I was impressed with the information and program around the tires. However after only 32,000 miles the tires needed replacement. Of course they pro-rated the new tires but at this rate I'll pay over $250/tire as a lifetime cost to get to the 80,000 stated tire life of the Goodyear Assurance not to mention the time spent waiting for replacements to be mounted + new vales, + shop fees + taxes +++. I can buy a lot of other tires a few times over before I would reach this cost and likely 3 times the mileage to boot. So unfortunately, no you don't get what you pay for. Goodyear's question was "did you rotate the tires". So rotation would triple the tread-wear??? Show me the data that supports that theory. BTW...I did have the tires rotated.
Excellent on wet roads, sub-par on snow and Ice. by mschmitz2 ,Jan 21 '07
Pros: Buy this tire if you don't have to worry about winter driving conditions. Cons: Poor snow and Ice handling. Save money, get better traction, by purchasing quality all-season radials.
I live in Nebraska and drive 148 miles round-trip to work and back every day (1997 Mercury Cougar). I'm very impressed with the wet road traction of these tires. You can fly down the interstate easily at the 75 mph speed limit. The tires are quiet and handle great in dry and wet conditions.
Snow handling is less than desirable... The ability to grab in the snow is about 70% of my previous set of all-season radials. They will usually get you there once you get moving, but getting started in more than 3" of snow can be challenging if not impossible.
Ice handling is no better than any other tire. I wouldn't give them any points for improved ice traction.
If I lived in an area that doesn't get snow and ice, I would strongly recommend these tires. Because though, of the winter driving I do, I do not plan on buying these tires again. I will go back to a quality all-season radial and save some money and get better winter traction.
Decide for yourself.
Mike.
Pros: Great Looks, Perform Well in Almost Any Situation Cons: Price, but definately well worth it
I recently bought a used 2000 Toyota Camry and one of the things that sold me was the tires. They make the car look so much better than the average Camry somehow. They handle exceptionally well on wet and dry pavement and can even handle the North Dakota winters with little effort. Do not let the price turn you away because a set of quality tires will pay for themselves in improved gas mileage, long life and above all, safety. Just imagine the COST of damage if your car were to slip on wet or snowy roads and get damaged just because you were using a poor set of tires. With these tires, I did not get stuck in the snow or slip on the ice once, even with my little Camry. Oh, and be sure to rotate your tires every 5000-6000 miles to keep them in tip top shape.
Good On Dry & Wet Roads, "Lousy"on ICE by pmatt ,Dec 16 '08
Pros: Very good dry and wet handling !! Cons: These tyres are terrible on ice !!!
I have four of these tyres on my Honda Accord and the car handles very well on wet and dry roads, but I live in Montreal Canada and driving on ice is a totally different story. Moving off on ice is difficult as the grip is poor so the tyre keeps spinning. Also stopping on ice is horrendous you have to make sure you anticipate what the next driver infront of you is going to do. I drove from Edmonto to Toronto via the nothern States and while driving in Montana a sudden snow fall occured , I was going slowly about 40 mph with a cross wind lost control on the highway and almost got hit , luckily the highway was not very busy. Now that the winter is here I have put on Michellin X-Ice and the car stops in a jiffy on a penny !!!
Pros: Excellent traction on both dry and wet pavement. Quieter than my old tires. Cons: Expensive. Don't work on wheels with hubcaps.
This is a fantastic tire. I bought four of them for my Nissan Sentra about 6 weeks and 4,000 miles ago, and couldn't be happier with them.
Performance on both wet and dry pavement is excellent; I haven't had a chance to try it in the snow yet, but I'm betting it does well there too.
The TripleTreds are quieter than my OEM Bridgestone Potenza tires.
I found prices varied widely so shop around for the best deal. I ended up paying $150/tire including all mounting, balancing, and a pro-rata road hazard warranty (historically I get a lot of flats, so I sprung for the warranty ~$10/tire).
Some reviewers mentioned seeing a decline in mileage after getting the TripleTred. I have not seen that. My average mileage for the 10 fillups prior to getting the new tires was 32.9 mpg, and my average mileage for my ten most recent fillups with the TripleTreds is 33.4 mpg. So if anything, I've seen a slight improvement in mileage.
Pros: Traction & handling very good. Cons: Loss of 2 miles per gallon.
Replaced Michelins with the Triple Tread on my 02 Honda Odyssey. They were quieter, but still noisy at higher speeds. Handling is very good. I now have about 20,000 miles on the tires. My biggest disappointment is I lost 2 miles per gallon of gas. Since I drive about 20,000 miles per year, this adds up especially at today's gas prices. I always keep an accurate record of all the gas I use.
When I mentioned this to the dealer, they said I should have gone to the Comfort Tread. They would have been quieter and wouldn't have lost the gas mileage. At least that's what they said. Unfortunately I went back in 35 days and they wouldn't replace the tires.
Tires design caused hubcaps to rotate speed and cause valve stems to break result=flat tires by stryker2005 ,Nov 28 '06
Pros: Tires have great comfort at high and low speeds. Great in the rain also. Cons: Use with alloy wheels only. Hubcaps wouldn't work with these tires Use metal valvestems!
Tires are great, but the way these triple treads are manufactured/designed, causes my Mazda MPV hubcaps to spin and break off the valve stems. It's weird that this happens on the front wheels only. I guess from the wheels turning from left to right causes them to flex more and spin the hubcaps at higher speeds.
Pros: Traction & warranty make for confident driving Cons: None I can think of!
I just put a new set of these tires on my 2003 Honda Odyssey...and I am really impressed. I was looking for tires that would make me worry less about my wife and two kids driving in bad weather...and these were the answer. They really grip the road in good and bad weather...yet the ride is smooth and QUIET. In fact, it's hard to believe that a tire with such an unusual tread design can be so quiet. I can see why Goodyear is willing to offer a 30 day test drive.....they'll probably never get any back. I like the 80K warranty....but it's too early to tell if they'll really last that long. Remember to sign up on Goodyear's Assurance website to register your tires and to sign up for the rotation reminder service!!! I live in the Northeast where we just had our first snowfall...and the tires were excellent in the couple of inches we had. I expect they'll do well in deeper snow, too. I bought mine on sale at Sears...and they were much cheaper than my local Goodyear/Gemini dealer. In sum....these are great tires...don't hesitate to buy them!
Goodyear Triple Treads NOT that Good by crpl_hicks ,Feb 25 '09
Pros: Good handling in Rain, comfortable ride, responsive on dry Cons: Poor handling response in light, heavy snow. Did I mention they're NOT good in snow?
I live in Alberta, Canada, so I know snow & winter driving. I've had snow tires & I know All Seasons cannot equal Winters, but I was truly disappointed with the Triple Tread. Deep snow, light snow, they performed no better than the half worn Sears Tires I replaced.
I have little confidence in their traction on the snow & ice. In fact because of my experience with these tires I question all these "glowing" reviews regarding the tire’s performance in snow. Although, I will say they handle well in the rain. Would I buy them again? Definitely NOT & can not encourage anyone who drives in winter weather to buy them.
Pros: look good Cons: couldn't get them the balance.
I bought a set of 4 for my 2005 Toyota Solara, replacing OEM Bridgestone Potenzas which only lasted 27K miles. The dealer couldn't get the Goodyears to balance (two attempts), even with dynamic load balancing and rotating front to back. At 55 - 70 MPH the steering wheel shook noticably and hard!
I gave up and replaced them with Yokohama Avid V4S tires which are fine.
This could have been just one or two bad tires and other folks may have better luck with the Goodyear tires.
Pros: Great traction, wet or dry
Great handling and response
Great ride
Cheaper than the Hydroedge Cons: Can't think of any...
Bought these for my wife's car to replace the OEM Michelins (MXV4)at 54,000 miles. Always felt that they were pretty noisy and didn't have very good wet traction. I've always had good luck and preferred Michelin (was considering the Hydroedge) but Consumers Report rated the Goodyear #1. Took the car out in the rain after I put them on to see how they'd handle and I couldn't break them loose. Read a few reviews about noise, but I'm not hearing anything. Ended up getting them at a Department store on sale and saved over $60.00 compared to the local discount tire store. It pays to shop around... I think I'm going to try and talk my wife into driving the MDX so I can have the TL. It's a blast.
These tires won't disappoint you...
I took them off my car after 800 miles. The only time my car rode good was on new pavement. Goodyear swapped the Triple tread for the comfort tread and I am very happy.
Pros: Quiet, handling in rain and snow, looks Cons: PRICE
I have a 94 Saturn with over 100K miles. You may wonder why I put tires on this car that cost almost as much as the car is worth. Since the car is mostly composite it is very light and tends to hydroplane. The factory Firestones were terrible. Even a slight drizzle and the cars handling became frightening. I replaced the factory tires with the Goodyear Wing foot HPs. I went with as large a tire as they could fit in the wheel well. This helped the performance in snow but didnt help as much in the rain. After wearing out the Wing foots I started shopping for a better rain tire. I did my research and decided to spend the money on the triple tread. Since then my handling in snow and rain is fantastic. Barely any slip at all in rain and no hydro planning even in heavy rain.
Pros: The best tires I have ever had, great handling and quiet plus they look great.none Cons: none
I read a lot of reviews on different tires and these tires had the best reviews. The major complaint was the price but I looked around and found 4 tires for $355 after a rebate. I've had these tires for 7 weeks now and am totally thrilled with them. We have had a lot of rain and they handled perfectly and also great on dry roads. Besides the great handling they are also quiet. I would recommend these tires to anyone and if price is a problem for you look around for sales and rebates...they are out there.
Honda Element on second set by raven0276 ,Jul 06 '06
Pros: Excellent handling, excellent traction. Especially with all wheel drive vehicle. Cons: Tires wear a bit more quickly that the guaranteed rate. Still worth it though.
Excellent handling in all weather conditions. I drive my 2003 Honda Element quite a bit, (almost 90k to date) and have just replaced my first set of Assurance Triple Treads with a new set. I'd recommend Honda make them the stock tire. Handling is great, ride is comfortable, traction is best I've experienced to date for any tire. Of course, this is all on an Element, so I do not explore the outer reaches of performance in any area.
Pros: These tires give a softer ride than the Michlins on my Chrysler 300 M 2001 Cons: The jury is still out since I have only had them for 2 days.
I just purchased thr Goodyear Assurance tires to replace my 40,000 dry rotted Michelins. So far the ride is smoother and quieter.
The price was a little more than I wanted to pay but hopefully,I won't need to replace them until I hit 80,000.
Triple Treads Ride Smooth and Quiet by gelandrum ,May 14 '07
Pros: Handling, traction, quiet and smooth ride. Cons: None
I replaced Firestone Affinity LH30's on my 2002 Intrepid ES. The Goodyear's are much quieter than the Firestone's, even at high speeds. In addition, the steering is quick and precise. Discount Tire in Littleton had a great deal, and I will consider these tires on future cars. For now, I'm extremely pleased.
Great Grip On Packed Snow, Good Highway Ride by smushmouth ,Feb 28 '06
Pros: Good handling on snow and dry asphalt. They look good too. Cons: Expensive, and with all-seasons you always sacrifice some winter performance.
I wanted an all-season tire that could last and still get me up to the mountains of Colorado on the weekends in my front wheel drive sedan. I have had the Blizzak tire and high-end summer tires before, but was tired of the expense of two sets of tires and wanted to avoid the hassle of switching tires twice a year. I tested these going up a steep snow packed road where four wheel drive is often required in the winter. I made it up, with little slipping. Not as good on snow as the Blizzak, but I'm hoping these will not get killed by asphalt like those did. On a four hour drive back from the mountains on dry highway, they performed fine and were relatively quiet. I have only had these for two weeks now, so I can't comment on their wear. If I had to make this purchase again, I'd get the same tires. If, however, you live somewhere where snow is on the ground all winter, the Blizzak is unbelievable. It just gets ripped down fast on asphalt. Oh yeah, I think the tread design on the TripleTred looks cool too.
Pros: Great handling, smooth ride, long tread wear. Cons: A bit pricey but worth it.
About 3 years ago I purchased these tires for my 2000 Impala based on reviews and a recommendation from a dealer. I was so impressed with the ride and handling that I just purchased 4 for my 2006 Honda Civic and can say that they perform as well on this small car as they do on my Impala. Some of the negative reviews about the tread wear and noise may be attributed to improper rotation procedures. Since these are unidirectional tires you cannot rotate them from one side of the car to the other. If you do you will get terrible tread wear and road noise will sound like you have a stampede coming out of your trunk. I rotate my Impala tires front to back only and comparing the tread ware to the brand new ones on the Civic they look like I just purchased them last month. I have a 2003 Silhouette and when the tires need replacing Tripletread will be the only tires I buy.
DO NOT BUY ASSURANCE TRIPLE TREDS by rphillips14 ,Dec 21 '09
Pros: Can't think of any? Cons: Overpriced Garbage, They last about 20K,
Goodyear - Assurance TripleTred Tires — We were planning a long trip and needed a good tire for all types of roads conditions. At first these tires did what they claim and I would have rated them much higher until we hit one year later. After about 15,000 kms we started to notice a significant amount of road noise in our Pontiac SV6. In the past few months we have had several parts replaced under warranty to help diagnose the issue and we continually came back to the tires.
The tires are rated at 120,000 km and I am in the process of getting rid of them at 20,000km. If you want to listen to the radio without the tires drowning it out then you should look for a different tire. I purchased Goodyear tires partly because of the branding and quality they claim to offer but I was sadly mistaken.
I thought it was just our vehicle but if you search through several tire review websites you will find I am not alone in this issue with the Assurance Triple Treads. Not sure why it starts around 15K but my only suggestion is DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES.
Goodyear won't honor warranty by frtitz999 ,Nov 23 '07
Pros: I don't have them anymore Cons: Terrible wear. Goodyear will try to cheat you on the warranty.
Had these tires for only 30.000 mi before they needed to be replaced. Goodyear offered a new set for 1/2 price instead of 1/3 price, citing uneven wear on the edges. Except the grooves on the edges are not as deep as those in the center when new. Did rotations as specified (mostly by Goodyear dealer), and alignment was checked by Goodyear and Toyota dealer and found to be OK. Goodyear said that for them to fully honor their warranty, that I should have recorded the following at each rotation: PSI, measure tread depth at three points across tire, mark tires to make sure they actually got rotated. What a crock! A Goodyear dealer did the rotations.
DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES! DO NOT BUY ANY GOODYEAR TIRES! I know I won't.
Pros: Hopefully great winter traction Cons: Harsh ride, louder than the cheapies I had on before
I have never written a consumer review, but I hope to spare someone a lot of grief. After I had the Tripletred's mounted, I had not driven my Avalon across the parking lot before I knew I had spent a lot of money for tires that now make my previously comfortable sedan ride like a lumber wagon. I have bought a lot of tires in over 30 years of driving, including some in third world countries, and I have never had tires ride so hard. "Disappointed" cannot begin to describe my feelings, and I do not have the money to put these aside and go buy different ones. Learn from my mistake - Consumer Reports recommended Michelins, and I should have listened.
Good tire but won't last nearly 80,000 miles by seasthonda ,Oct 27 '08
Pros: Wet and dry traction, look sporty, not too noisy Cons:
80,000 mile tread life claim is bogus
I just had my 2nd set of Tripletreds put on my Accord today from JustTires. Overall, I was happy with the first set. The tires performed very well. Good traction, handling, not too noisy. I also like the looks of the tires.
Don't expect them to last 80,000 miles. My 1st set had 48,000 miles and had 1/32 left. I rotated them regularly and had my alignment checked about once a year -- it was never out of spec. The shoulders of the tires also seem to wear quickly.
The store manager said this was pretty much normal for Tripletreds and gave me a significant mileage credit discount on the new set. I paid $250 out the door including road hazard guarantees. He said they do this often enough for Tripletreds that he didn't even check my rotation history in the computer.
Pros: Excellent feel of the road. Cons: The price is high but these tires are worth every penny!
I love the feel of the road under me knowing that I'm not going to slide across the road on slick roads. That's what these tires do. I live in the Seattle area so we get a lot of rain and I never feel as if I'm driving over the road, I feel as if I'm driving ON the road. No complaints here, and I've owned them now for four months.
TripleTred causes vibration on my 2000 Honda Odyssey by jasper60103 ,Jul 01 '08
Pros: Good all weather tires Cons: Vibration problem
I purchased (4)TripleTreds tires for my 2000 Honda Odyssey in April 2008 after reading all the great reviews here on epinions. When driving home, I noticed the steering wheel had some vibration at hwy speeds (60-70 mph). I didn't return to Goodyear right away because I was hoping the tires would smooth out in time. That was a bad decision. Unfortunately, I waited too long, beyond the 30 day Goodyear exchange period.
The Goodyear dealer did rebalance the tires for me, indicating 3 of the tires were out of balance, but the vibration issue only improved slightly. I know I didn't have this problem before with my old tires, and this gets to be annoying on long hwy trips. I paid over $600 for this set of tires and I feel they should produce a smooth comfortable ride.
Anyway, if I had to do over again, I would choose the ComforTreds.
Excellent Wet/Dry.....but....Snow/Ice Under-acheiver.... by awsm869 ,Dec 21 '07
Pros: WET, DRY - AWESOME
DECENT TREAD WEAR LIFE Cons: SNOW / ICE - Close to SUCKING HARD!
I put these on my wife's FWD Vibe after having a good experience with the Fortera Tripletred's on my AWD SUV. However, they are not living up to my expectations in snow at all. I assumed they would be great as I have no problems with the set on my truck but I think the AWD is really making a substantial traction difference. I've actually been stuck in the driveway with the Triple Tred's in 4 inches of packed snow/ice and got stuck on a residential street that my SUV tackled with ease just moments before.
If winter performance is not a large concern...these are amazing on wet, dry, even slushy winter roads...but when it comes to tackling packed snow and ice, the boasts of Goodyear don't live up to their rep. on the roads!
Vibration Problem very pesky vibration at 65 MPH and up. by rickmckean ,Aug 21 '08
Pros: Nice handling tire on the expressway and on tight turns very responsive. Cons: Vibration and a bit noisy I was warned about the noise when I purchased.
My Goodyear Assurance P225 60 R16 on my Cadillac De Ville have a vibration that can not be balanced out. I have had my tires re balanced 4 times and the nagging vibration is still there.
I am a former auto mechanic that specialized in suspension and balances. These tires have me baffled and I am not one to pursue the manufacturer to replace but I am going to do this. I bought Goodyear for the first time as I have always had Michelin Tires on my cars. I wanted to keep Americans working.
I have been out of the auto business for many years and not one to complain as I dealt with many issues as a service manager for both a car dealership and also a Goodyear sub company back in the 70's..
I am disappointed.
Pros: Good manufacturer ratings for rain, snow and dry road driving Cons: Tread disappears well before the "promised" 140,000km
Goodyear's Assurance TripleTred Tire is among Goodyear's top rated products. They contain many features such as excellent drivability rating in the snow, rain and on dry road. They also hold a 140,000km use warranty.
I've had my tires for just under 9 months and have put just about 15,000km on them and they are already ready for the recycler. The tread has worn down so much that they are no longer road worthy. It truly is a disappointment especially with the money that I had spent on them.
