Pros: the price definately Cons: low 60,000 mile warranty
First of all let me say I used to sell tires at my old job. This particular tire was one of our best sellers. The Goodyear Wrangler tires are a pretty good all around truck and SUV tire and you can buy them at a good price. Of course there is a whole lot ...
Pros: Gripping ability makes them perfect for off- road handling; Low noise; Handsome appearance Cons: High price; Not practical for most vehicles
Shopping for tires can be frustrating and confusing. There are so many different tires on the market and the numeric markings can add even more stress to an already difficult buying decision. I have been looking at tires recently to replace the ones on ...
Pros: RADIAL,STICKS TO EVERYTHING IT TOUCHES,LAST 50,000 MILES+,LOOKS GREAT,#1 IN ROCK CRAWLING Cons: SOME DONT LIKE THE PRICE SO GO TO TIRERACK.COM AND SAVE ABOUT 30 PERCENT!!
The Goodyear Wrangler MT/R is to me the best Tire on the market right now. It has won numerous Rock Crawling competitions all around the country. It has got a three ply DURAWALL sidewall That is near bulletproof, and a three lug stage tread design. I have ...
Pros: Excellent construction, good traction, high mileage. Cons: Not a hard-core tires for serious enthusiasts.
I am an avid hard-core off-roader. My truck is built for off-road only yet is legal enough to pass inspection. I am also part of a large group of 4-wheelers who own their own courses and build their own trucks. We run rocks, mud, sand, everything. My ...
Pros: Outstanding traction, indestructable offroad, fantastic handling Cons: Very soft compound that wears WAY too quickly
I had 285/75/16's mounted on my 2000 Silverado. I loved everything about these tires except for 1 thing... the wear rate. I drove just over 30,000 miles before I was down to the wear bars. I rotated them every 5,000 miles, so the wear was really even, ...
Pros: Excellent rock crawling capabilities. The three ply sidewall makes the tire indestructable Cons: Wears quickly, excessive noise on the highway
The MTR is one of the best offroad tires on the market. But it is a purely offroad tire. Working in a tire shop, I have seen MTR last as long as 50 thousand miles, but more often than not gone at around 20. As an owner of a 1990 Jeep Wrangler, I have...
Pros: Tough, surprisingly quiet on highway, effective both on road and off Cons: Expensive
This tire gained it's fame in the rock crawling circles as a tire with excellent traction on some of the toughest rock crawling competitions around. The tire is designed to operate well in an under-inflated state (a common practice for tires when doing...
Pros: nothing at all...maybe looks if you are into that Cons: everything..tread wear, noise, vibration and so on..DO NOT BUY THESE!!
these are the worst tires I have ever had!!! they wear wayyyy to quick and the noise is unbelievable!!!!! I would NOT recommend these tires to anyone unless you have money to throw out the window. you have to rotate them every 1500 miles according to goodyear. this is not what the dealer told me. I rotated them every 3000k. they wore out in 17k...what a waste never again!!!
I have the MTR's on a 99 2wd Ford Ranger (30x9.5). I love the offroad traction and think its one of the toughest tires I've ever had. But, they have 25,000 miles and are toast. I don't know if it is the Florida heat or the soft compound but I am going back to BFG AT's. The MTR pulled me out of some sticky swamp mud when new but after half of the tread life I can't climb a grass coverd levy.
Rollin' my Toyota 4 runner on Goodyear Wrangler MTR 33's by jess2005kyle ,May 24 '06
Pros: Great bite in the sand, mud, dirt, water, EVERYWHERE, lots of complements Cons: They are an expensive tire, but well worth it!
My Toyota 4 runner is a 1994, I am a girl and my husband and I lifted our truck and put 33" Goodyear Wrangler MTR's on it. I love these tires!! we own a tire shop and I see a lot of tires! before these tires we had BFG all terrains, dont get me wrong they are very nice tires, but the MTR's have the grip and the look!Handling is excellent, for the size of the tire, we have never experienced a problem, we just love these tires, they come with a depth of 20mm new.. We also have a nice set of dual exhaust with flowmaster, with the sound of our truck with the look the tires add we get a lot of compliments on it, even though it is 12 years old. These tires will probably run you about $200 a piece, but we have had ours for about a year driving everyday and they have at least 50% tread left. TRY THEM OUT!!
Pros: Puncture proof, aggressive off road Cons: way to LOUD, way to SOFT, didn't last 20,000 miles, expensive
I am in the market for a new set of off-roads less than two years after purchasing my MTR's. They didn't make it 20,000 miles. Very tough and aggressive and puncture resistant. Very loud on the highway, I will not be disappointed to get rid of them.
Pros: Good traction tire, works well at low pressure Cons: Wears away too quickly, a bit pricy
I've got 30x9.5-15 MTRs on my 1992 Chevy Blazer, and the tires have just over 3000 miles on them, but the tread is still in good condition. I take care of these tires though, and they perform great offroad. Though my 4wd doesn't work (I didn't know it at the time), I went through a 1-ft deep mudpit in 2wd and made it through without stopping, thanks to the MTR's (before I couldn't do it with Michelin AT's).
Overall, I really like these tires, they have great looks, but certainly aren't show-truck tires. If you want tires for look, get some cheap BFG's or some Mastercraft tires. These tires are for serious offroaders, since I've heard of trucks with 35's trading in Swampers for MTR's, and be glad they did it. If you have the money, get these tires.
Pros: great traction wet and dry, mud, snow.
quiet and smooth riding. Cons: about the only con i have is the availability of the 37" versions.
i have been running these 37" mt/r's on my Dodge Ram for almost 2 months. they are a great all around tire.
i switched from Super Swamper TSL's.
i can now hear the radio when im driving, it doesnt sound like im next to the jet engine on an airplane in the cab, they done slide around on wet roads or in the snow like the TSL's had done.
there was this one particular corner on my way to work i knew i could break the rear loose if i gassed it when it was wet, i wont do that any more.
if the 40" mt/r's werent so damn expensive i would buy a set of those for my K5 blazer.
Pros: Every thing! Cons: Wet traction (no sipeing)
These things are amazing! They grip grab and claw over everything, and I mean everything. From the Durawall 3 ply sidewall to the silica compound. These things are where its at. 20/32 of tread, deep side lugs, super strong sidewall, long life and very aggressive tread design. My tires are new, but I have friends that have over 30k miles on them with useful tread left.
