Pros: Good reception, GREAT functionality. Good customer service: replacements sent in 2 serial cases. Cons: Chronic failure of receivers renders "Pros" moot, unfortunately
First, some basic information (added in response to comments): This is a 900MHz "3-way" system -- 3 units, one for nursery, two for parents. Nursery unit only uses adapter for power, but parent units can also use one 9v battery (not included; battery ...

Pros: 2 receivers, LED readout, transmits sounds clearly Cons: STATIC
We got this Listen 'n Talk as a baby shower present. The product itself is pretty good--it has two receivers, plus you can talk to both the baby and to the other receiver if you want to (we have never used this feature). It transmits the baby's sound ...

Hopefully the replacement works better!

Pros: Two handsets with walkie-talkie ability Cons: Price, handset failure
When we purchased this monitor there were no reviews on it yet. We've been using this monitor for 7 1/2 months. Out of the blue one of the handsets stopped transmitting sound. I called Graco and they are sending a complete replacement set. In the mean time, I am bringing the one working unit upstairs and downstairs with me. We purchased this monitor because it had two handsets and the ability to talk from handset to handset (although we never ended up using this feature). This was the most expensive monitor we looked at, but justified it as this is our first child and we figured we would be able to use it for any other children we may have in the future. Based on the previous reviews, I have serious doubts about that now.

The Worst Monitor Ever
by jcorrigan ,Nov 06 '03
Pros: Great Clarity!!!!
Conveniently has 2 recievers Cons: The recievers sound will go out!
Not reliable!
We purchased this very expensive monitor ($70) in hopes of clearing up the static problems from our previous monitors. When the receivers actually work, they are extremely clear. The problem is that we have gone through two sets of receivers. With each set, the sound on the receiver goes out within a couple weeks. Graco is great about sending out replacement parts--they just are particular to send out the right parts. We called them about both X/Y receivers sound going out so they sent us A/B receivers. When we called to let them know that the receivers were the wrong frequency, they sent us out another X/Y transmitter. Then we called about having the wrong transmitter for the A/B receivers, they sent us out another X/Y transmitter. In the end we had 2 broken X/Y receivers, 2 working A/B receivers, and three X/Y transmitters. Finally they just sent us out a whole new set...in which the receivers promptly lost their sound--again within a week. Our family has been enduring this monitor ordeal with Graco since July 2003. I will never again purchase a Graco monitor.

flawed monitor
by turtle2468 ,Dec 20 '03
Pros: super clear when it worked Cons: worked an average of 2-4 weeks
I bought this monitor after having trouble with others. In a couple of weeks the sound quit working. Graco had the monitor replacements on backorder. We finally received one and it didn't work. Graco sent out a whole new system which worked for 2 weeks. I gave up and got a wireless home intercom system that was only $65 and works great.

Wish I'd read the reviews sooner

Pros: Walkie talkie feature Cons: Not very reliable
Got this set as a gift that was on our registry. Worked great for 2-3 weeks, then one receiver quit working. Found these reviews and took it back. Decided on this one because of the walkie talkie feature, but I think we can live with out that for a reliable baby monitor.

by sunapee1 ,Jan 21 '04
Pros: There are 2 remotes Cons: static, bad reception, one handset doesn't work at all!
This monitor has horrible reception, constant static, and forget using your cordless phone while the monitor's on!!
I registered for this monitor because it was the most expensive one at Buy Buy Baby, don't be fooled by price!!

Great design, great features, doesn't work!
by lkoops ,Dec 23 '04
Pros: Great features, but it doesn't work. Cons: Stops working after a few weeks.
I wish I had checked out this site before buying the Graco baby monitor. On my first set, one of the receivers stopped working after a few weeks (no audio, just the flashing LEDs). On my second set, one of the receivers stopped working after two weeks (no audio, just the flashing LEDs). On my third set, the transmitter stopped working after 3 days, so the two receivers just blast loud static.
Good thing I have a cheap unit to fall back on.
Great thing, the store I bought it from, Kiddie Town, in Ottawa, Ontario, is going to give me a store credit.

I should have listened
by cwilson7938 ,Jan 24 '04
Pros: Two handsets; two-way communication to base station and other handset Cons: The receivers stop working within 1-3 months!!!
As the eternal optimist, I was sure that my experience with the 2780 (mine's actually a 2780A) would be better than the others. How else, in good conscious, could Graco sell this product?
Unfortunately, I too, had problems with these monitors. After about a month, one of the handsets started having muffled audio. This continued to worsen over the next couple of weeks until the unit stopped receiving altogether. I call Graco and received a replacement unit which didn't work at all.
It has now been 2.5 months since the original purchase and now the second handset is starting to exhibit the same behavior as the first. Please read the reviews and stay away from this model!
