Pavlov's Dogs/Casey215's Cats

by casey215 , Sep 12 '00
Pros: Works Fast!
Cons: Expensive
About a year ago, my children and I visited the local pet shelter in hopes of finding a kitten to join our family. As luck would have it, we ended up walking out that day with not one, but two cats: a ten week old kitten named Prowler and a rangy...

Bitter Apple

by Cleavenger , Aug 08 '00
Pros: not expensive, easy to use
Cons: didn't work for my cat
I bought Grannick's Bitter Apple spray after watching my cat chew on one place on her back relentlessly. I had already tried everything from squirting her with water when I'd see her chewing, to applying cream and ointment and she just continued...

NO means no.

by Draggar , Mar 31 '04
Pros: Easy to apply, non-toxic, won't damage fabrics.
Cons: Over-use may stain.
Well, my wife and I have a 12 month old puppy (well, he's 12 monts old now). to make matters more interesting, nippy, chewy, etc.., he's a Belgian Malinois puppy. Energetic, rates a 10 on the playful scale, and is very intelligent. My wife had always ...

My cats love the stuff!

by ahsitan , Apr 19 '02
Pros: It is supposedly non-toxic.
Cons: My cats licked it off my plants. The description of ingredients is vague.
Shortly after we moved into our house, I had decided to liven it up with some plants. Obviously, the cats were attracted to the plants like candy. In the past, I had accepted that indoor cats sometimes like to have something green to chew on. I had tried...

Pssst.....want some candy little doggie?

by grneyedcwboy , Oct 17 '00
Pros: Doesn't smell too bad.
Cons: My dog licked it like it was candy!
My last dog, rest his soul, was a chewer from the word 'GO'. He came out of his mom chewing on his tail and didn't stop chewing from that day on. He was notorious for chewing on my Palm tree I had in the living room. He would reach up, grab the leaves...

Bitter Apple not a Sweet Solution.

by Pat8 , Dec 12 '00
Pros: Tastes bad to humans and might work on some cats
Cons: Didn't on eleven I know
Adam must have been desperate to be tempted by the apple and so was I when I picked up Bitter Apple. My five precious cats were clawing, climbing and chewing my near equally precious house plants. I had also been limited in plant selection to only...

Plants and Everything Else!

by Jettison , Aug 04 '00
Pros: Works for repelling your dog from everything
Cons: Misleading because it only says 'plants'
I went on a search for this "Bitter Apple" product on the strong recommendation of a coworker of mine, suggesting it for my puppie's new habit of wanting to chew on absolutely everything, including all of our brand new oak furniture.

Get Regular Bitter Apple

by mckowen , Aug 01 '00
Pros: deterred chewing
Cons: price
I purchased a Grannick product called Bitter Apple that was not for plants and it works wonders! It is just called Bitter Apple Spray and it has saved my woodwork in the house.

I was told to spray the bitter apple spray on a cloth and then...

Save your furniture!

by wondercat , Nov 17 '00
Pros: Effective, inexpensive, safe product
Cons: It's really unpleasant if it gets on your hands.
My cat Lucy had been perfectly well behaved until she discovered phone cords. After successfully eating through all of those to be found in the house, she moved on to an even more dangerous chew toy - power cords.

I conferred with several of...

Bitter Apple Protect Property If It Doesn't Ruin It First

by bengalesse , Jun 07 '02
Pros: Stopped kitty from chewing power cords and rattan furniture.
Cons: Takes the varnish off of wood furniture and floors. Ruins nail polish.
Overall, this is a positive review. I must say that this product works well, but be careful how you apply it. It will take the varnish right off of your furniture and hardwood floors.

My five month old kitten chews everything in the house --...

Mmmmm,, Salad Dressing!

by galileo365 , Jul 19 '00
Pros: It's bitter
Cons: It doesn't really work well for some cats.
My husband had bought me this big carved stone waterfall that came with live plants growing on the side of the stone. Since the first day it was brought into the house, our one cat "Aurora" a Siamese mix has made this thing her own personal...

More than they can Chew

by ariande , Oct 19 '00
Pros: easy to use
Cons: not always effective
I got a new puppy years ago. He wasn't too much of a chewer, but his favorite two things to chew on were the ferret (*sigh* poor beast was always soaked from being chewed on. Never harmed thankfully) and the electric cords. As you can imagine, that was a...

Enhances the flavor?

by Macharoni , Oct 09 '00
Pros: Apparently works on some dogs
Cons: Didn't work on our dogs
We have two dogs, a dalmatian and a black lab/border collie mix. Both dogs are very active (i.e. hyper!) and can be very destructive. They have chewed up furniture, trees, an entire bottom shelf of books, electrical cords, and of course, house...

Thank you Grannick!!

by chrissyp12 , Nov 09 '00
Pros: Stops chewing
Cons: Have to use it several times to get desired effect.
Bringing home a new puppy is a heartwarming experience for the whole family. They smell funny and love to curl up on you lap and sleep so sweetly you just want to eat them up!!! And then the chewing starts! First, it is all the cute toys you paid $10 a...

Pros: IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!
Cons: not cost effective
I recently purchased Grannick's Bitter Apple Cream online, as I was getting very frustrated with my cat's biting habits. My siamese cat is now a year old and still continues to chew on my furniture and on electrical cords! I was very concerned about her...
