Griffin Technology Griffin iTrip - Auto Dock Connector (Cable Attach) FM Transmitter for iPhone & iPod (6135-TRPAUTO)
Pros: a good way to hear your music, from and iPod, on a radio Cons: I have had three. They all died within about 6 months.
About three years ago I got a part time job working for the local Apple Store (I’m not there anymore). As part of the job we were given iPods for both work use and personal use. At that time I could only listen to it with the ear buds that came with ...
Pros: Compact, light weight, good sound quality... Cons: Needs a storing case...
I have been using my iTrip with my 15GB (3rd generation) iPod for about two years now. If you want a FM transmitter for your iPod that does not have any moving parts (like wires) then get this. I have to admit that ...
Pros: It's pretty, not cumbersome/no wires, inexpensive, portable EVERYWHERE! Cons: Pain in the @$$ to change stations while driving, need to change stations often
I have owned the iTrip FM Transmitter for 2 years now, following are my experiences with it. ***Please see updates at end ;-)) In the two years I have owned iTrip Transmitter I have also owned a Belkin cassette transmitter and a Monster ...
Pros: Small Cons: No way to charge and play 5th gen iPods. No latching mechanism.
The concept is great, but with fifth gen iPods, this product almost seems like a beta version that escaped the factory as a half-baked concept. While it's obvious that an FM transmitter like this will have its weaknesses in an urban environment where ...
I bought an iTrip for my 3rd. gen. iPod - thinking it'd be really handy for the car. But within a matter of 2 months or so, I resold it on eBay at a loss, and was happy to see it go. It looks good. I'll grant it that. It almost looks like it ...
Pros: looks cool Cons: lots o static, poor sound quality.
I bought this at the local best buy and listened to it for about a week. I live in the Phoenix area so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I always had too much static interference and when there was no static the sound quality was really poor. I returned it and bought a cassette adapter which works really well. My Mom just got an ipod and doesn't have a cassette player. I think I'll try the Monter Cable iCarPlay since it's received good reviews on this site.
Pros: Good reception, good sound. Cons: Eats up battery, pain to change stations on the fly.
If I had written this review just a month after buying the transmitter I would have probably given it a single star rating. This is so coz the default setting suck big time and being lazy I hadn't changed it for some time.
However, once I got to setting up the "station playlist" changing stations was a charm. I also found that if there is a weak signal on the tuned station, this transmitter will overide it.
I am not sure what to expect distance wise (looking @ other reviews). It seem to work fine for me upto 5 ft and sometimes 10 feet if I set the orientation right. But the range is more than enough for me since I listen to it in the car. I even put it in my car's center storage console and close the top and still don't have problem with reception.
However as pointed to by some reviews, changing stations on the fly is real pain, especially if you are driving. Also it eats up a lot of battery so better have a car charger for the iPod if you plan to go on a long drives (> 2 hrs).
Pros: The theory behind this product is ideal. Cons: The reality of it is as such: You get what you pay for, not even.
This product lasted through about twenty uses tops. The part that plugged into the ipod got stuck in and came out of the frame. The wires broke. Even before it broke, it barely worked. You have to change the channels all the time. Heaven forbid you want to drive any distance away from your original station setting. You end up having to reset the station repeatedly. I haven't been so frustrated with a product since satellite television in the mountains of Vermont. I have never written a review on anything before, but the irritation compelled me. I have the overwhelming desire to run over this product with my car.
Good at close ranges; distances are iffy by stellertony ,Nov 27 '05
Pros: Good quality at short ranges. Relatively inexpensive. Works well with a dock. Cons: Hard to change channels. Mileage may vary on distance broadcasting. No case.
I bought the iTrip as part of a package on eBay, mainly for playing over the car speakers after we purchased a new car in April. In my experience, I have found that the iTrip works very, very well on extremely short ranges - beyond that, you have to be able to find a weak signal area on the radio and position the iTrip very carefully. It also tends to act strangely around some people (like me) - standing in certain places in relation to the iTrip or the receiving radio can degrade audio quality. That may just be me, though.
In any case, I would recommend buying one of the newer ones that has an LCD screen.
Worst product ever made in my opinion by sushidawg68 ,Jul 30 '05
Pros: Portable Cons: Everything that isn't the word "portable", They'll just die.
I hate this product. I am not a mean person, but I spit on the makers of this product. I bought one iTrip, 3 weeks later it just died, troubleshooted for days, brought it into computer techs, no one knew. Thought i'd give it one more chance, bought one more, lasted...3 days...it died. Same exact thing. My fault? Nope, volume was adjusted right, radio was on the right station, it said power on, iPod recognized it, they both were dead. They seemed so perfect, it had no wires, so portable, but don't get an iTrip, get something that will work.
