Increasingly convinced while watching the infomercials, I decided to give it a try even though my friends who tried it all said it didn't work. Well, they were right. I used this system for about 3 months without seeing any drastic results. My skin was smoother, but not blemish free. About three months into the system, I developed a rash on my face. It could be seen all around my eyes. I looked like a raccoon! In addition to the rash, the areas around my eyes were swollen, my lips were swollen, as well as my nose. The whole ordeal lasted for about three days. I no longer use this system. It obviously was not for me.

I have moderately bad acne, which is to say that on average I have between five to ten pimples on my face at any given acne. I was so horrified after it didn't go away by itself that I tried the expensive pro-active solution. I used it sparingly, but even after the first treatment my face started itching like it had no business to. Peeling and redness followed. I used it but once a day, and moisturized after each whole application. Nothing helped, although my acne did go away. However, when I say my face itched, there is no describing the intensity of it. It got to the point where my face was raw simply from rubbing it with the back of my hand, since I knew scratching it with my fingers would worsen it, I rubbed it. Needless to say, I stopped after a week of the torture. I recently started using Burt's Bees products, and my acne went completely away. Take my advice, save yourself the money and forget the pro-active "solution".

I used Proactiv 3 yrs ago when my acne was considered mild and it was amazing. Instantly I noticed a difference and my face started clearing up and feeling better. BUT as soon as I stopped taking it (was too expensive at the time) all my acne came back.

In recent years my acne got worse, and I had to go on Accutane. It's been over 6 months that I've been off it now and my skin is still beautifully clear! :)

One major disadvantage that I've found out about Benzol Peroxide (the active ingredient) is that continuous use of it will cause premature aging. So you get rid of acne to have to deal with wrinkle now :)

My skin wasn't too terrible, just some light breakouts on my face now and then. Even so I thought that ProActive might stop my problems so I gave it a whirl. I expected fantastic results, but I didn't notice the slightest difference. I followed it for 2 months (morning, noon, and night) and then finally gave up. With all that effort I expected something, but ended up becoming frustrated and upset. Go to a dermatologist where they can determine your skin type and suggest treatments. They'll do better then ProActive.

I began using Proactiv last October and I honestly didn't think it was going to work - it made my skin worse for about 1-2 months, but by month 3 and beyond my skin was CLEAR, made my skin have an even creamy tone. My only problem was that their customer service and auto ship was the worst I have ever experienced.

I switched to Murad because their customer service and autoship seemed to be better, but let me tell you, it can not even compare to Proactiv. I used the Murad Acne Complex for 3 full months and my skin has never looked worse! My acne now is worse than it was before I started using ANY acne product - now that sucks!

I switched back to Proactiv just 3 days ago, and since then I have had numerous friends and family members tell me how nice my skin is looking. It does not look red, dull, or inflammed like it did with Murad.

Proactiv does work and it IS the best product on the market. I am only sad that I ever left them.

At first, I tried the proactiv system after a few months of buying every new line that came out in the drugstores. They made my acne worse. Finally we splurged on proactiv about a year ago. At first I thought it wasn't working, because of the burning and drying of my sensitive skin. In the next month or so, my zits improved temendously. Now, 1 year later, I have perfect skin. That may seem like a long time, but I had had so many zits, large and small, all around my T zone.
I think that everyone needs to experiment, because no face is the same, so each person might need to tweak the system.
Personally, I do not use it twice a day, only once, because it is harsh for my incredibly sensitive and delicate skin. I use the three step system every night, so that it works while I sleep, and then I use a cleanser like clearasil or biore wipes to freshen up in the mornings.
I am incredibly impressed by the results, and am proud to have perfect blemish and scar free skin.

Pros: Complete system that really works! Not only an acne system but a skincare system.
Cons: Expensive. I don't like having to order it. I wish it were sold in stores.

I developed adult acne after having my daughter and nothing worked for me until I found Proactiv. I have never been able to use a facial moisturizer and the repairing lotion feels like a treat for me. I also notice that my pore size is significantly reduced when I use proactiv regularly. I only use it once a day so it lasts for awhile. If I use it twice a day, it is too harsh so I would think it would work for someone even with very bad acne because mine is moderate. I think it is a great product and I cannot do without it.

Cons: pricey,slow ship from company, initial breakout phase in beginning

This system will help if you use it daily. It did not clear up my acne completely, however there is a major difference. The system is very expensive and it seems that the bottles are just not big enough! If you order straight from the company, expect to wait at least 1-2 weeks for delivery. By ordering straight from the company, you can also expect to become part of the "Clear Skin Club" where you will be forced to let them debit your account every month or so.
The best advice I have is to search online for a cheaper price, the shipping will usually be much faster, too.
Although it did not clear me up completely, I am still using after 3 months because I can tell a major difference and my skin is much much softer.
Also, try experimenting with only a couple of the products and not the whole 3-4 step system, I found that they are not all necessary and this will save you money, too. I have found that the lotion is KEY! Do expect an initial breakout phase.

I don't have problematic skin usually, but one summer I had breakouts on the left cheek. I used proactiv and it worked. My skin appeared smooth and bright. However, in the Fall of last year. I got breakouts again on both cheeks, and this time, proactiv worsened them badly. I got horrible red lumps on both cheeks. I once thought about suing them but didn't do it. The breakouts are now a little better but they are still there. After viewing others' feedbacks, I decide to consult my doctor. So be strong facing an influential informercial. It might not suit you.

I have mild to moderate acne, in my 20's...I always have a consistent 2-3 pimples on my face. I bought Pro Active on e bay, so I didn't have to belong to a membership. The first week I used it I thought it was a miracle...cleared up blemishes so fast, but I think my skin has now gotten used to it and it really doesn't make them disappear any faster then they would on their own. CAUTION-it does tend to dry out your skin so I use it every other day, to avoid over drying which will then lead to more blemishes! SO over all not a great product but not terrible either!

Pros: IT WORKS! Quantity lasts. Can be used any place with blemishes. IT WORKS!!

Follow the directions and within a week or two, say hello to your clear skin you once knew. I've been using Proactiv barely 3 months and almost all of my acne and acne scars are all gone! My skin is fairly oily and the thing I like about Proactiv is it doesn't totally strip your skin. (Of course I must aknowledge that Proactiv, sadly, doesn't work for everyone, but for the majority of us with little to "highly moderate" acne- but not extreme or severe, and basically any skin type...) What else can I say? Proactiv really works!

I should have stuck to the over-the-counter stuff. Proactiv products made my slight acne problem much, much worse. My sister-in-law told me her daughter has been using Proactiv for over five years, I was succumed to try the product. When the product arrived, I immediately went to the bathroom to wash my face. It's true, it is a time-consuming system, I was expecting my face to clear up within the first week! Boy was I wrong! When my skin got worse and I started to break out with worse acne, I thought to myself..."maybe it has to get worse before it gets better". I stopped using the product within a month and called Customer Service to cancel my membership. I was asked if I would like to try a "less harsh" Proactiv product, of course I said 'no thank you'. I went back to using Wal*Mart Equate brand skin care products...I have to admit, my face is almost back to the way it was BEFORE I used Proactiv, except I now have ugly dark acne scars.

So a word of advice to those folks considering Proactiv...You CAN'T believe everything you see and hear on television.

As a teen, I began developing mild acne. No huge red pimples, just the occasional breakouts occuring from oily skin.

My mother suggested that I try Proactiv. Up to that point, I used random Clearasil and Noxzema products containing triclosan.

I was excited to see the first box of Proactiv arrive. I began using it twice daily and have been for nearly two years now.

This product simply doesn't work. The cleanser (1st step) isn't strong enough. My skin didn't feel fresh when using it. The toner was nice, and the lotion was close to being greasy. Three hours later, my skin was oily as it was before.

Today I did a brave thing by calling and cancelling Proactiv, not without being offered the "stronger" version with 7% benzoyl peroxide. I am deciding to try AcneFree, which has a better rating and customer reviews than Proactiv Solution, plus it is $25 cheaper.

Pros: Very effective in fighting acne (for me). Can adjust how often shipment comes.
Cons: Leaves bleach spots on colored towels, clothing.

I have been using Proactiv for about 2 years now. It starting clearing my skin up immediately. Sometimes I use it twice a day and sometimes I will even skip a few days and use a mild facial soap instead. I find I need to adjust how I use it because occasionally my skin will get dry and red. After skipping a day or so, the dryness/redness goes away. One thing that they don't warn you about is that the products have a bleaching effect on clothing or colored towels, so be careful. I use white hand towels and wash clothes now.

Pros: easy to order online, easy to cancel, reduced oiliness of skin
Cons: Made my skin worse than it has ever been in my life.

I have been dealing with slight breakouts for years and decided to try the Proactiv system after seeing the commercial on t.v. I was VERY disappointed in this product. My skin just seemed to get worse and worse. Going from occasional breakouts to full blown acne was a huge embarrassment for me. Week after week, I kept using the product hoping that it would finally start working. Well, it never did. After using almost all the product in the bottles, I called customer service to cancel. I never did take the time to return the almost empty bottles. The only positive thing was that it did help to control the oil on my face. It took a couple weeks of using Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Face Wash and some prescription medicine (Benzaclin) from a dermatologist to get my skin back under control. I also want to add that some of my friends also tried Proactiv and none of them ever saw the results that were promised in the commercial

I never had acne as a teen, but in my 20's I started getting these huge, cyst-like pimples on my chin and around my jaw line. They were definitely linked to hormones and were always just under the surface waiting to erupt! I tried many different products from the drugstore, but found them to be overly drying and irritating. I wasn't sure I was able to commit to a 3-step program every day! I finally broke down and bought the trial set of Proactive. Within a week I could tell that the soreness in my chin was lessened. I started using this product in July of 2006 and haven't had ONE recurrence of the cyst-like zits since then! If I'm lazy and skip the routine, I may have a whitehead or two, but if I'm faithful to the products, they're faithful to me! I have recommended the system to friends and family and all have had at least acceptable, if not fantastic, results!

Proactiv WORKS! If you're not getting great results with it, then you're jumping in too soon, using it too often, or just not using it enough and irritating your skin with just a residue, rather than providing a working layer. Also, something else I noticed is that you need to use a rather generous amount of Renewing Cleanser, or else it will make your skin more irritated than before. If you do use enough, however, it will work seamlessly, and that's a guarentee. Cons: The Proactiv cleanser and toner are not right for OUR skin types.

As a former member I would love to return to the Proactiv Club but being a 57 year old woman the cleanser and toner are not right for me. The Repairing Lotion is wonderful, however but is not offered currently in a Repairing Lotion ONLY Kit form. My 19 year old son is also very pleased with the Repairing Lotion.

I have always had mild acne throughout my teens and through my twenties. In high school, I went to the dermatologist and tried EVERYTHING (accutane, retin-a, etc)...and nothing works. In my mid-twenties, I started to get acne on my chin. I used Proactiv for a few years and it worked pretty well. Then about six months ago, it started making my skin very, very dry and RED!!! Also, the acne on my chin was coming back. I switched to Dermalogica, which DID NOT work and then went back to Proactiv for a day and my face was SO red and SO dry. I have just started Murad and I hope that it works.

In my opinion, Proactiv makes your skin worse in the long run.

Pros: Really works -- even for 40 plus skin. I don't even need moisturizer.
Cons: Can't order products separately at package price if one runs out before the other two.

After resisting the recommendation from a very trusted friend, I finally broke down and ordered Proactiv. I am 48 years old and have oily skin and occasional breakouts, although not as much as my earlier years. Not only has the Proactiv system prevented new breakouts, it has also made my skin smoother and less dry! The rough scrubs and alcohol-based toner I was using actually produced more oil and dry spots on my skin. If a new "pimple" begins, it quickly subsides and never makes it to the painful red stage. I am pretty impressed!

Pros: the mask and toner is okay i guess and has a pleasing scent that's it!

Proactiv works well the first few days I've used it.  If you don't have horrible acne, I suggest you don't use this.  I have oily skin and was hoping for better results. It started to leave a few dry spots here and there and made my skin worse.

Cons: Do NOT use as much as they recommend, or you will dry out

I have been using Proactiv for over two years now, and I never get blemishes anymore. It took me a few months to figure out the best system for me, and until I did I did have excessive drying and flaking. I DO NOT use the Toner - It really will dry your skin out. I use the Cleanser ONCE a day in the morning all over my face. I use the Repairing Lotion ONCE a day in the morning ONLY on trouble spots. If you use the product lightly, it will not dry out your skin. I use a regular moisturizer on top of the repairing lotion. A bottle of lotion and cleanser usually lasts me about six months. Like I said, I don't use it heavily. I will say that the few times I have tried to stop using it, I almost immediately got blemishes again.

Pros: Less expensive/more effective than prescription acne medications; easy to apply; delivered right to your door.
Cons: The repairing lotion may bleach clothes if you don't let it dry first.

I had been on prescription acne medication since high school (that was 15 years ago); sometimes using as many as four different prescriptions at one time. I tried Proactive Solution and have never looked back. Proactive is better than any of those prescriptions that I used and I have now introduced it to my husband who also suffered from acne since high school. We both now have the clearest skin. Several family members have commented on how clear my skin is now and they described the results as a drastic improvement. I agree. Proactive cleared my severely acne prone skin.

Pros: mild on skin - if you're used to more severe acne treatments.
Cons: Pricey; doesn't work on moderate to severe acne.

If you've been on Acutane and it hasn't worked for you, please don't think that this product will, despite the claims...I have been on Accutane twice before, with only moderate results. I recently gave up my regular acne treatment and gave the Proactiv system a chance. After 4 1/2 months of using Proactiv, I was left with severe cystic acne, and many deep scars that will probably need cosmetic correction. All in all, this system cost me a lot, in every sense of the word.

I have had horrible acne for years. I've tried all over the counter and prescription methods for treating acne. Some things will work for a couple weeks, but then my acne always will come back. Proactiv really helps control my breakouts. I wouldn't recommend it to people that only have mild acne, because I think it would be too drying for their skin. I've been using proactiv for about 6 months and would recommend it to anyone with oily, acne prone skin.

I had tried everything before breaking down and calling to order the Proactiv system. I didn't like the idea of having automatic shipments sent and I don't generally trust infomercials. However, I got tired of driving to specialty stores for certain brands and decided to give Proactiv a try. Although it has not been a perfect solution for me, I feel that it has been an improvement over drugstore varieties as well as the Murad line. I've only had one bad breakout in the 5 months that I've been using Proactiv, which is very good for me.

I've been using the 3 step system for about a year and it has made a huge difference. I had perfect skin as a teenager but started with adult acne in my 20s but no more, I can't remember the last time I've had a blemish since using this product. My daughter had terrible acne and this system also worked like a charm for her.

I can't express in a review the disappointment I felt when Proactiv completely failed me. I used it longer than my better senses told me to because I couldn't accept that a product so exalted by celebrities who I naively thought wouldn't lie to me was a hoax to take my money. How immoral that would be! Of all people to take for all they've got, those who have crippling self-consciousness because of their acne are possibly the most vulnerable. Those dermatologists should be ashamed. They are nothing but liars and thieves. Please save your money, but most of all, your dignity. I've had some success with salicylic acid products 2% or above, but everyone can be different. Try various active ingredients till you find one you feel is helpful to you. There's nothing on TV that is not in your local drugstores; read labels. It'll be cheaper, and probably more effective.

its been a year now since i started the proactiv solution system and i have finally come to the conclusion that it will never show me the results it claims.
i bought this product because of all the hype around it. i was amazed at the before and after pictures shown in the magazine and tv ads. it truly seemed that this stuff could work for anybody. little did i know that i was once again being sucked into one big fat lie.
i ordered the 3 step system along with the refining mask from qvc. every two months a new shipment was delivered two my door. and every two months i gained a little more hope that i would see results...but that never happened. so here i am one year later, acne skin and all, researching on a different skin care system

I am 31 years old and all of a sudden suffering from what my dermatologist called "adult acne". I got married in December of last year and in November decided to get Proactiv so that I would be the bride with the lovely, clear, glowing skin. My problem is that I don't do routines really well so at first I didn't see much results. My skin was a bit blotchy in my wedding pics even though I was using the product for over a month. However, I managed to get the 3 part routine down pat, I usually incorporate it during my shower time. Now 7 months later I can proudly say I have much clearer skin and I need minimal makeup and the product leaves my skin clear, clean and glowing. I would definitely recommend it.

I have suffered from acne since my early teens. I tried just about everything out there from over the counter treatments to expensive department store products as well as prescriptions from my Dermatologist. None of them worked at all. I saw the infomercial for Pro Active Solution and I honestly was skeptical until someone at work told me that she was a Pro Active user and how it helped her. I went home and ordered it still a little skeptical. I used it and within a week I noticed a HUGE difference in my skin. The redness was gone and my acne cleared up! Now I am a FIRM believer in this product and I tell everyone about it. My skin has NEVER looked better. It's honestly a miracle product for me. I LOVE it. I seriously can not live with out it.

Do not be fooled by the copy cat products sold at Wal Mart, because I tried them thinking that they were the same as Pro Active Solution and THEY ARE NOT. They left my skin feeling greasy and my acne returned.

I am female, 27, and have used ProActiv religiously twice a day for 3 years. Cleared all my little pimples, but the hormonal zits still appear along my jawline and cheeks. I recently decided to stop using ProActiv because I no longer want to apply Benzoyl Peroxide to my face. I was willing to put up with the bleached sheets and towels for the chance to have clear skin, but not if it's going to be harmful/toxic to my skin and body. I'm now using organic products from a natural foods store. I've never considered myself the 'granola crunchy' type, but am now becoming skeptical of all these products that are entering our body through the skin. Be cautious, do some research, and be careful about what you apply on your skin. Good luck!

I have used the prodcut off and on for several years. I first ordered the trial kit to make sure I liked it. Whenever I start to breakout, I go back to using it. The only reason I don't use it everyday is that it can really dry my skin out. Also, I tend to use the toner at a faster rate than the other 2 products, so I usually just buy another brand toner to fill in. Also, the mask that comes with the kit is amazing. I use it when I give myself a facial, or as a spot treatment when I have a break out. My husband even loves it! Also, my mom uses it, so it is good for all ages and skin types. I would deffinately recommend this product for teens, or someone getting ready for their wedding day. It does cost a little, but I don't use it 2 times a day like it recommends, just once in the evening b/c it is hard to put a moisturizer over the repairing lotion and then put on makeup over that.

I ordered this system and used it faithfully for at least a month. I have been trying acne products for years and thought "why not?" I had absolutely NO improvement! It is way too gentle for acne. And the bottles are incredibly small, 2-3 ounces maybe. I returned the product and received a full refund. PLEASE don't fall for the hype - it's just another benzoyl peroxide product.

I have a battled acne since my high school years. Although, I haven't been left depressed by acne I am self concious about my skin blemishes and acne. I have tried numerous products with no "worthy of praise" results. My sister tried Proactiv solution and has been a member for a little over a year and loves what the products have done for her skin. She rarely uses the repairing lotion at all. I however, have been using the product for one month now and have seen little to almost no results. I would hate to give up on the product, but I have seen more pimples popping up and have not seen the old ones disappear. Has anyone had to use the product for a while before they saw visable praise worthy results? Let me know I am interested to find out how effective this product is with severe acne and how long it normally takes to see positive results.

I first started buying Proactiv one year ago for my 14 year old daughter who had terrible acne at the time. She is now 15 and has been using the system for a year. Her acne is completely cleared up and the scars are almost gone as well. It took about 2 months to really start working, but it was worth the wait. She is so much more confident in herself!

I just spent about $ 63.00 on a proactiv kit. I have been using it for three days and my face looks horrible. I have acne just on my chin but now my who face is beating red. So red that people are commenting on it. My skin is sooo dry and it burns constantly. I keep waking up in pain at night. Of course i stopped using the product and I plan on returning it today. It may work for some but if you have sensitive skin, don't bother.

I have fair skin and have dealt with blemish problems off and on for years. Now in my mid-20s dealing with small blemishes on my chin and sides of my face. Decided to try Proactiv system.

Proactiv seems like it works at FIRST (like the first week) and then all hell broke loose and my entire face became very dry, bumpy, red, and inflamed. My entire face started to burn and itch 24-7. I tried to stick it out an entire month but once I started noticing blackheads up the sides of my face where I had NEVER had them I threw everything in the trash. Never again will I use Proactiv, it is way too harsh.

I used Proactiv for over a year.  It did OK at managing my breakouts, but did nothing for my blackheads or pore size.  While shopping around for an alternative, it was brought to my attention that the exfoliating "microbeads" in the Proactiv face wash (and lots of other OTC and Rx washes) are made out of POLYETHYLENE (that's plastic, folks!)  What's the big deal?  Well, these microplastics don't degrade.  So they go down your drain, through your waste treatment facility, and into our rivers, lakes, and oceans.  There, they are ingested by fish, birds, shellfish, and other marine animals.  It is as yet unknown how long it takes for these plastics to leave the bodies of the animals - if they ever do! 
Therefore, if you eat fish or shellfish, or if you care at all about the state of our maine ecosystem (and you should because it produces most of the oxygen you breathe), find yourself a natural product WITHOUT POLYETHYLENE in the ingredients.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: They fleece you. and they are rude.

Recently, I asked for a trial product from them and in their website without informing you they keep on sending you their products and charge you.
Do your self a favor and don't ever order anything from them because they will use your account to order merchandise on your behalf.
They seem to be legal but they are dishonest. They use fine prints to get your money.
