DO NOT BUY THIS!!
by hbark001 ,Aug 01 '07
Pros: The cooling was good. Cons: It broke after just a few days use.
Very noisy.
When I bought this, it came with a cracked window panel. I called the manufacturer, and they shipped a new one, it was good customer service.
However, a couple of weeks later, the compressor stopped working. I called Haier again, and they said since it's under warranty, they would send someone out to look at it. That took another week. The repair guy came today, said it needed a new electronics board or something, and he'll come back in two weeks.
This thing is brand new, and having this trouble now? No way. I returned it to Wal Mart.
Also it is very, very noisy.

Good value for the money
by dofess ,May 01 '07
Pros: Reasonable price for good overall design and performance. Cons: The window adapter is poorly designed.
The unit itself is small and as attractive as an appliance of this sort could be. It is not at all overwhelming in our small 150 square foot bedroom. The controls are easy to use. The hose is easy to assemble. The noise level associated with operation of the unit is comparable to that of a similar sized window unit (possibly even quieter). The adapter that sits in the window and connects to the hose is poorly designed. A better option might be a piece of plywood with a similar thickness custom cut for your window (with the appropriate circular opening, of course).

Efficient at cooling?
by koliver ,May 25 '07
Pros: easy to install Cons: doesn't cool even a small room
After five hours of running the unit at max cool and low temp, the ambient temp in our 130 sq. ft. bedroom has gone down a measly 3 degrees (79 to 76) and the temp outside is only in the 90's. I will return this unit if something dramatic doesn't happen overnight.

A good value
by carmalooch ,Jun 20 '06
Pros: Low price and easy to operate. Cons: Loud when the compressor kicks on.
I purchased this portable because my bedroom has two outside doors and no window. I removed one of the glass panes from the door and replaced it with a piece of plywood with a hole cut for the exhaust. The unit was inexpensive at $300 and offers many great features.
Assembly is simple and the digital controls are easy to use. It does a nice job cooling my large room and is easy to move around. The only down side is that it is really loud when the compressor kicks on. This is something that I was able to get used to however. I would recommend this model for anyone who can't use a window air conditioner.

Do not buy it!!
by kauryl ,Jun 08 '08
Pros: It cooled pretty good when it did work. Cons: It sucks. It breaks down after a few uses. Loud when it does run.
I bought mine about a year ago, I used it fine like 2 times since I was using it for a room that I hardly go into. When I changed it to my bedroom and put it to run after the 2nd time I ran it, the compressor broke down. I believe it is not worth the headache, time or aggravation.
