Not worth it!

by robbanks , Apr 23 '00
Pros: double sided printing, speed
Cons: jams all the time, bad resolution, bad software management
After getting my G4, I decided to buy the HP 970 Cxi. The thing that intrigued me the most was the ability to print on both sides automatically. The setup was a snap, but that was the end of it.

The printer had several flaws that I was not...

Great For Lots of Printing

by MiriyaSterling , Dec 26 '00
Pros: Duplex attachment: great way to save paper.
Cons: The duplex attachment is more sensitive to jams.
I have just recently returned back to school, so any of you out there should know what that means... assignments, reports, projects, the whole works! Being a computer science major makes the printing even worse since we have to turn in printed code....

Hp 970cxi/cse worth 2nd look

by msmaltz , Mar 10 '00
Pros: Great Print Quality
Cons: Not quite as fast as advertised/Uses tri-color Cartridges
I will admit right away that I have not been happy with HP printers that I have used in the past. When compared to other ink jet printers, HP always seemed to let me down.
That said, I recently re-entered the market for a new printer. I...

Great Photo Prints- Fast

by merg1 , Jan 06 '01
Pros: Great Photos and two side printing
Cons: Haven't found any yet
The 970 CXI is my second HP printer. I owned the 722C and was very impressed with it. When I purchased a new computer from Dell I decided to take advantage of the HP $50 rebate and buy an new printer.
After reading the epinions of other epinion...

WOW - What a printer!

by LordMikal , Oct 14 '00
Pros: Outstanding Printer, Duplex, High speeds, small footprint
Cons: Price is a bit more than other Color InkJets
As a professional IT Consultant - I have been a diehard Epson printer fan from way back. The first printer that I ever purchased was an Epson FX185 back in 1983 and when color inkjets came out I purchased the Epson Color Stylus and then the Pro version....

HP: We Lose Money on the Printers, and Make it Back with $30 Ink Cartridges

by da_anarchist , Feb 14 '01
Pros: Good Printing Speed / Excellent Quality / Solid Construction / Easy Set-Up
Cons: 30 Second Delay When Using Duplexer / Ink is a Ripoff
To print, or not to print, that is the question. Or at least this was true of my former printer, a 5-year old relic, which complemented every page with lovely streaks throughout the text. Finally, the time came when a printer upgrade was inevitable; I...

I'm so impressed!!

by madison87 , Mar 07 '00
Pros: Quick and efficient with professional results. Capable of 2-sided printing.
Cons: Cartridges are quite expensive and not refillable at this time.
I recently upgraded to this HP printer from a Canon 620. Immediately I was impressed by the professional print quality. I used to experience line marks with my Canon, as well as crude quality when printing smaller font and pictures. This is no longer...

Outta my way - there's paper coming this way!

by andrevm Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jun 25 '00
Pros: Excellent quality and it's fun to watch the paper fly out after printing
Cons: Expensive - according to R.S.P.
Hewlett Packard's definition of fast printing shocked me when I saw this printer in use. Model 970Cxi is one of HP's professional series printers made specially for printing glossy pictures, and it literally throws the paper out when it's done....

Discounted Heavily, the 970 would be a steal if not for the HP DeskJet 960

by yusakugo Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Jan 19 '01
Pros: Fast printing, Excellent print quality, HP warranty, duplex module, & low price
Cons: CPU hang time on print jobs, still expensive for most casual users
Updated! With the release of the Deskjet 990 by Hewlett Packard, something had to give... the 990 was priced at the $399 MSRP level just like the 970. So Hewlett-Packard slashed the price of the DeskJet 970 series printer to more affordable...

970Cxi-A second one for home

by randomaccess , Jan 18 '00
Pros: Quality, Speed
Cons: Price
In my earlier review of the 970 Cxi, I covered my experience setting up this printer at work. I was so pleased with its performance I purchased one for home use, installed on a Pentium II-333 running Windows 98.

Having lived with the 970 for...

Top Of The Line

by Nrich4 , Dec 30 '99
Pros: Superior print quality on both plain and coated material. Quality construction. Quiet operation. Excellent customer service over phone and company web site. Prints on both sides of paper automatically.
Cons: The speed of printing isn't quite as fast as stated in the company literature. The automatic reverse side printing operation is not explained very well in the manual in regards to the adjustments that have to be made in the word processing software. The ty
My printer is being used for home personal use and specifically to reproduce photos and formal letters. I also have a Panasonic 2124 dot-matrix which I have used for years and am still using to download information off the internet (the ink ribbons are...

HP Printers are #1

by yeast , Apr 03 '00
Pros: Unbeatable, affordable, photo quality printing
Cons: None
My wife and I recently purchased a Sony Mavica digital camera. The camera works great but the pictures looked horrible on our Cannon BJC 4200 printer. After a lot of research and testing we found the HP 970cxi(sold through Costco) to be the answer.

Nice printer

by pushijima , Oct 03 '99
Pros: High quality prints, much improved speed from original PhotoSmart
Cons: Slow photo-quality speed
After having used an HP PhotoSmart and an Epson Stylus Photo 750, I was interested to hear of two new photo-quality printers from HP: the PhotoSmart P1100 and DeskJet 970. Both models actually have several versions the PhotoSmart comes in three flavors...

Lifetime Photo-Processing For $260!

by piyo , Apr 27 '01
Pros: Magazine and photo-processing quality prints!
Cons: You'd be foolish to expect it: black and white text is NOT laser quality
First, let me dispel all the myths about a photo-quality printer that also does laser-quality text. Stop dreaming! The day is not yet here. No inkjet or bubblejet can approach razor-sharp laser text, including the HP Deskjet 970cxi, which claims to....
