Pros: cheap, good picture quality, decent speed Cons: no available parts, has caused me many problems
Im not a big fan of any of HPs 900 series printers. I hope to find time to look at each one individually, but Im starting with the worst: the 940. I could understand a lemon in the group, but of the 10 I have, all of them, except maybe a ...
Pros: relatively cheap, fast, simple to figure out Cons: eats through ink, small paper tray, double-sided printing
I've had the HP Deskjet 940c for about 16 months, and I've found it to be a pretty good printer. At around $125 the price was very good for when I bought it. It's print speed is pretty fast, especially if you set the quality at normal, or even ...
Pros: Easy to use, nice looking appearance, small size, prints beautifully, excellent price Cons: Not particularly good for printing out 4x6 or other normal photo sized prints.
The HP deskjet 940c was reasonably priced and delivers a great performance. The printing quality is truly amazing. The printer is incredibly idiot proof, and always works as it is supposed to. I have never had a problem with the printer, as I have had...
Pros: good looking??? Cons: This printer is the worst printer I've ever bought!!!!!!
I swear those other opinions had to have been written by HP employees! This is the worst printer I've ever bought and i've bought several (even my original printer was a HP and I thought it was great!) - I bought this at Staples for my husband because...
Pros: Inexpensive; quiet printing; good quality printing Cons: None
I have owned this printer for one 2 months now and have had no problems with it. For the price, you get the dependability of HP and good print quality in color and black/white. Prints 12 pages per minute in black/white and about 9 pages per minute in...
Last time I reviewed a Espon printer. I thought it was a good printer. However, the more or the longer I used it, the more annoying it becomes. Anyway, I will compare hp with Espon later.
Pros: Easy setup, fast printing, quiet printing, cartridges easy to change Cons: Instructions almost non existent
Well I haven't had this particular printer for very long, but for the time that I have had it, it has been a great printer. I have owned other HP printers, and would prefer them over any other kind. HP has always been a great printer maker and they...
Pros: Quiet, black and white printing very fast Cons: No instruction manual, changing ink cartridge is tricky, text is not sharp
My old canon bjc-600 was acting all weird all of a sudden. Could have been the driver, could be too old, could have gotten it repaired but who cares? I have been very frustrated with the printer since the first year I bought it. I was fairly happy with...
I am what is known as a computer moron. I graduated from the Sergeant Schultz School of Computer Information, its motto is “I know nothing! NOTHING!” Frankly, I don’t want to know anything much either. My brain is so full of stuff that I need to know,...
Pros: Affordable performance. Easy installation. Bang-for-buck. Cons: Ink is expensive, but that's not the printer's fault...oh wait, its an HP!
For a little background on why I decided to buy this printer, please see the link below to my review of HP's DeskJet 890C. That will give you a glimpse of what motivated me to make this purchase.
For a 20 something college student money isn't always as plentiful as one would like. So, when my old Epson shut down on me for the third and final time, I was not excited. Yes, it was loud (my boyfriend would not let me print after 11 PM unless is was...
Pros: Inexpensive, great text quality. Cons: Did not print photos!! 3 month warranty, no toll free tech support.
This is about the 4th generation of HP printers that I've owned. The reason I keep going back to HP is because of their past track record. So when I bought the 940C, I was expecting the same level of performance and quality. All in all, I am...
Pros: Great photo print quality, extremely low price of printer Cons: Jams a lot, fairly costly ink
My intention in buying an HP Printer was to acquire a brand with a sterling reputation for reliability. And I liked the print quality I saw in the store. Nevertheless, I am skeptical of computer products, especially those with moving parts, so I...
Pros: Price, General reliability, Dual interface, Output quality, quiet, quick for the money. Cons: 3 month warranty, No infrared receiver, High ink prices
As the mid-priced ink jet market continues to change and improve, HP often assaults the major competition such as Epson and Canon. With Hewlett Packard’s (HP) DeskJet 940, it assaults the competition like no other contender could. At $149, it was an...
Pros: The price, the speed, the quality, HP printer reliability, low cost printer consumables Cons: no duplexer, no infrared, see other cons in cons section
HP continues to assult the low to medium priced printer market with their update to the DeskJet 930 line... the new DeskJet 940. Although the 940 is the successor to the 930, the 940 loses the fold up tray on the 930. This gives the printer a bigger...
Pros: Reliable, Common Inkjet Cartridges, Versatile Cons: None
I purchased this product four years ago to go with a new computer, and it has been working well ever since. I have replaced the cartridges several times, using actual HP cartridges, some knock-offs, and cartridges I refilled myself. All worked fine, although the "low ink level" light was on permanently when using the cartridges I refilled myself. I also spilled some ink while using these cartridges - but the printer kept working. I have used regular paper, photo paper, stationery, and envelopes - all worked well.
The printer using a standard cord to connect to an electrical outlet, and can connect to your computer either via a printer cable or USB cable. I use the printer cable, and have had good results.
Print quality is good, even with photos. "Did your camera take those?" said the amazed mother. When my computer was running Fedora Core 3 Linux as its operating system, there was a problem with easily visible lines appearing in all color printouts, but this seems to have been fixed with Core 4.
All in all, I have found this an excellent printer.
Flimsy Paper Feed Easily Breaks by justatesta ,May 19 '04
Pros: Nice photos. Good speed. Cons: Cheaply made. Can easily break permanently.
I have owned this printer for about a year. I have been very happy with speed and and print quality, however, the printer has reached end of life due to the cheap plastic fingers that help guide the paper being broken off, even though the printer was used very rarely.
If you view the printer from the front as it is printing, you can see three black plastic fingers ( one on the left, one in the middle, one on the right ) that help to guide the paper.
These finger broke off on three separate occasions due to paper jamming. Now that the fingers are gone, jamming is unavoidable.
Easy to Use, Operates Great by midgett84 ,Apr 21 '04
Pros: cancel button; speed; quality of printing Cons: paper jams sometimes, but easy to fix
The hp deskjet 940c is the best printer I could have bought for college. The cancel button is a miracle in and of itself-- it works instantaneously rather than waiting until the printer is done printing a page. With the three ink settings-- draft, normal, and best-- I can print anything from papers to website info to digital prints quickly and easily (and the photos are of surprisingly good quality!) Not to mention that printing on "Draft" makes the ink last so much longer. Paper jams do happen sometimes, but they are so easy to fix thanks to the easy-open compartment on the very back of the printer. All in all, a great buy.

I bought this printer to go with our new computer, it runs quietly and efficiently. We have never had a paper jam. The photo quality print is excellent. We love it and we would buy another one if we needed to.
I have this printer at work and liked it so much I retired my Lexmark and bought one for home. Excellent computer interface, no paper jams after 1500 print jobs. Gotta love that kind of quality.

I bought this printer for $130.00 and threw it in the trash two days later. Yes, it prints awesome....when it prints without paper jam or software flaws. I have worked with many printers and I could not get this one to perform adequately. Do your homework before buying the HP deskjet 940. Bottom line - you get what you pay for.

Overall, the value to price ratio is quite good. However, the replacement cartridges are prohibitively expensive, like those used in other brands of printers.
