This laptop has been pretty good, except after about 2 years, the power jack (where you plug the adapter into the PC) started coming loose and eventually broke off. This is evidently a fairly common HP design flaw [see ...

Cheap, capable but hot running by malicorne ,Mar 09 '04
Pros: Inexpensive. Nice display. Plays DVDs and CD-RW. Cons: A bit slow. Small hard drive (20G). Runs REALLY hot.
I've had my ze1210 for over a year and it's a competent machine. Too slow for a new machine now, but it was good value last year. Main problem is it runs really hot. I run a motherboard temperature sensor program and I've seen it up at 90 degrees. That's 90 Celsius! When I say this is a hot machine that really cooks, I am speaking literally. It seems to run hotter after I upped the memory to 768Meg. But as hot as it gets, it doesn't stop working. I don't think they should have used this Athlon chip in a laptop
My solution was to buy a small fan base for it (about $8 on eBay). This keeps the temperature to around 45 degrees C.
