This scanner was bought along with the pc my father bought me last April. My dad thought it would be a good idea, just in case we wanted to send a fax to someone. It turns out it was actually a good idea.
There was a time when HP was one of the best, although most costly, scanners available on the market. It seems that as HP has lowered their price to be competitive, they've also lowered their quality.
I went back and forth deciding whether to put my review under Recommended or Not Recommended. The reason is that this HP scanner does what I need it to do, but it generally takes a bit of coercing to produce the desired scan.
Pros: Very good quality ,operation just one bush of a button Cons: none
I made the purchase with knowing the operation of this scanner was going to be easy. The unit comes with easy setup with installation , scan or copy with the touch of a button. The scanning is so clear and steps are 1-4 and your done.
Pros: Good scanning at a low price Cons: A little slow at scanning bigger items
When I decided to purchase a scanner, I asked some friends with scanners for recommendations and did some comparisons for myself. Hewlett Packard was one name that was mentioned several times. I only wanted it for my own basic home use. I mainly use...
Pros: Good Image Quality, Easy Installation Cons: None
I recently purchased an HP Scanjet 3300 C before I went back to college. My old Austra 2000P finally kicked the bucket and I had to buy a new scanner. A scanner is an essential part of my computer hardware because I need to scan quite a few pictures for...
Pros: it is presented as a simple machine, and... Cons: that is what it is
I purchased this scanner for a simple purpose, to scan pictures for brochures and websites for my parents company. There are a few very good things about this scanner, which is why I chose it, but most of all it was the most inexpensive scanner on the...
Pros: Easy to use, easy to install software. Decent resolution("photo-quality.) Adobe PhotoDeluxe. Cons: Recognizes some color photo as b/w and converts them to b/w.
HP has a winner with this scanner. I purchase it two years ago and since then HP has developed two other lines of scanners, but I have no need to upgrade because this does the trick.
It has a couple of quick button to scan or copy with the...
Pros: Easy to use, reasonably priced Cons: Skimpy on the software
While on a search for a scanner, and selling computer products in the past, I had my mind set on what I was looking for. Parallel port scanners had always caused problems and while this is not readily known, scanners with passover ports to other devices...
Pros: inexpensive, good quality and durable Cons: not as good on text as on pictures
I don't know about you, but I bought this scanner for basic home usage. It was cheap, about $110, and it was by HP, a well respected name. I wanted USB for a connection, because I find that parallel pass-thrus are iffy at best, and I wanted to avoid...
Pros: Scans in color or black and white; great for homeschool worksheets! Cons: The accompanying Adobe software is time consuming.
My hubby surprised me with this scanner as one of my Christmas presents this past year. It has saved me so much time, money, and trouble! But like all things, it has its imperfections and I've had my share of frustrations in trying to maximize its...
Pros: Good quality scan, bundled software, USB Cons: Slooooooow scans, software is a bit iffy
I have always had some fun with scanners. But I have found that scanners, in my opinion, can be some of the most troublesome PC peripherals. They can be slow, crash, and have poor software bundled with them. I have found that the ScanJet 3300c is the...
Pros: Great intelligent scanning, bargain price Cons: Wish the photo editor had additional drawing tools.
I was looking for a scanner that was under a $100, good take decent scans of photos, do some basic OCR (converting typed text into an editable document such as Microsoft Word), and came with a photo editing software that would allow you to touch up the...
HP makes good products I purchased a printer at the same time as this scanner and I'm very pleased with it. I probably would be happy with the scanner too, if I could get it working. It's there where the problem lies... HP's support.
Pros: Easily installed, inexpensive, and easy to use. Cons: Haven't found any yet.
I'm real new to computers and so far setting up this scanner has been one of the easiest things I've done. We got our computer for Christmas, one of those package deals. And it took me four months to be able to work the basic computer and decide to go...
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Quality Outcome, Good Bundled Software, USB connection Cons: USB connection only
I recently borrowed an old family album that contained precious “growing up” photos of me. Negatives weren’t available, and even if they were it was just too tedious process to reproduce these photos. I have been thinking about buying a scanner lately...
Pros: none - unless you enjoy frustration Cons: If you have Windows 2000 Pro, it won't work!
I am very unhappy with this product because of blatant false advertising by HP. I purchased this product at a good price ($49 + shipping) through a website (computergeeks.com) in order to scan photos and illustrations for image editing in Photoshop and...
Pros: easy to use Cons: slightly slow for bigger projects

This scanner came with one cd and two cords, one...
Pros: Small footprint, USB Connection, Easy to Use Cons: At time of writing, no Windows 2000 support. Default Resolution wont stay on the setting you choose for every scan.
I bought the 3300C scanner from HP not too long ago and have found it to be a great scanner. The push buttons on the front of the scanner are very helpful when commencing a new scan to copy or to scan into the computer itself. I also have found the...
Pros: imagery, speed, made for beginners Cons: bulky
I bought this scanner today because I have a ton of projects due the next upcoming week. I am happy I chose this one. I needed a scanner that had too be cheap as well as work efficiently. this turns to my money's worth.
Pros: Quick and Simple Cons: Can not scan Slides, transparencies, or negatives
This unit is simple to operate and produce's high quality images. It had a unique feature, I scanned in a pic crooked and it rotated it so it was square for me. That was pretty cool! It was a simple 2 or 3 clicks and I was finished. You simple select a...
I have been doing my homework and this has to be the easiest scanner that HP has made to date. HP ScanJet 3300C is affordable from anywhere from 99.00 to 149.00. Depending on the sale in your area. This scanner/copier has a flat bed manuel load but...
Pros: Acceptable scans when it actually works Cons: Buggy scanner & software, poor technical support
I received the HP Scanjet 3300c for my birthday awhile back. When I installed it under Windows Me it had a habit of not working from time to time. HPs solution? I had to crawl under the desk and actually unplug the scanner for 60 seconds and then...
Pros: Price, simple setup, doubles as copier Cons: basic machine, slow, need a patch for Windows ME
If you want a scanner, but are wondering how much you'll actually use it, the HP ScanJet3300 may be a good choice for you. I bought mine a few weeks ago, when they were on sale for $69 and the retailer even through in a $30 gift card by mail, so the...

Pros: Affordable, fast, decent scans Cons: Not any I can think of
I needed to upgrade my useless scanner because I just purchased a new computer and the old scanner with the new computer would have been a pathetic sight. Who would want to use a five year old scanner in a new computer? Not me so I decided to visit the...
Pros: Cheap, USB Cons: No Win2K support, poor scan quality
I should say that I consider myself a poweruser and just wasn't impressed with the 3300C at all. The first mistake I made was only paying $99 for a scanner that I thought (by reading the box: 600x1200dpi) was going to provide the same scanning quality...
Pros: Small, high quality scanning, fast, quiet, great software, cheap Cons: NONE
I purchased the HP ScanJet 3300C several months ago. I just could not take one more day with our Mustek scanner. The price was right at Office Depot...on sale for $99! Much much cheaper than the Mustek a couple of years ago. I'll admit, I was...

Pros: Extremely easy to use Cons: Software riddled with bugs
I only paid $99 for mine, so it's Ok that you have to restart the accompanying software once in a while. If I'd paid $149, as I see the listed price here on epinions is, I'd have docked it another star. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Pros: High resolution, reliable Cons: does not have instant fax utility, as similar products do
I switched to an HP scanner, primarily because my last two scanners (not HPs) died in the first week I owned them (Yes, both!). I often do websites, save important documents to disk, etc. and could not afford to be without a reliable scanner.
Pros: Great Scan Quality Cons: Must have a good Printer
I purchased this scanner a few weeks ago and boy am I happy! I have never had so much fun with a scanner before. I have been scanning and e-mailing all kinds of pictures. You can add frames, do artictic effects, darken, brighten, blur, and so much...

Pros: Great pictures, good price, fast USB interface Cons: Takes a while to warm up, buttons sometimes unresponsive

Pros: Good price, Does the Job Cons: a little on the slow side
I bought this scanner about a month ago and paid $149 CND. The reason for the purchase was to be able to put graphics and pictures on web sites which I was designing. Although this scanner isn't the fastest or the highest resolution it serves its...

Pros: quality and ease of use, software included Cons: maybe a little pricey compared to others
I was looking for scanners and went through GTE Superpages Consumer Guide. No one mentions the Scanjet 3300c. This is what I bought for $149.00. I found it extremely easy to install and hook up took about 15 minutes. Wait for software load was the...
Pros: Inexpensive, nice image quality, HP name Cons: A bit noisy, slow
I can be considered to be an HP groupie. I have two HP printers, an HP scanner, and HP CDR drive, and I'm currently lusting after an HP Jornada 548, so it's no secret that the first scanner I've owned that's worth owning in a long time is an HP also....
Pros: Fast and easy to setup and use. Cons: Not the greatest scanner out there.

Pros: Easy to use, setup and install, fast scanning Cons: not many options
I purchased this product for my mother-in-law. She's 66 years old, and doesn't know much about computers, and that's an understatement. I installed the scanner directly into the USB port and inserted a cd to finish! Windows detected it cleanly on the...
Pros: Fast, easy to set up, reliable Cons: Must have USB port; may need PCI/USB adaptor

Pros: Cheap, Accurate Cons: Optical Text doesn't work well.

Pros: Price, can scan directly into popular programs such as MS Word Cons: No Fax software included
Very low priced scanner. It does have some nice features.
You can scan a document directly to MS Word. However, the software is a little difficult to use. When I tried to scan multiple pages to MS Word, it would overwrite the existing...
Pros: Good price, it works, also makes copies Cons: Slow to start up when it's cold.
This is the only scanner I've owned, so I don't have a whole lot to compare it with.
The 3300C from HP is not a bad scanner. Not a great one either, but what do you expect for the price - mine was about $100. It does what it should do - it...

Pros: Fast, Easy scanning, two buttons Cons: Too bright, too heavy, uses power
HP 3300C is not bad at all.
Things I really like about it:
- relatively fast (through USB)
- senses the image and sort of cuts it out while scanning making it easy for the user (sort of like previewing and scanning 2 in 1)
(in...

Pros: USB Connection. Cons: Needs to warm up before use.
This scanner is great. It connects to the PC with the USB port, which is the way I recommend. Any other way is terribly slow. The scan and copy buttons on the front of the scanner are nice. It prevents from having to open up the software yourself. The...

Works Perfectly on Linux!!! by lookingagain ,May 06 '06
Pros: Works with Linux, Quality Scans, Dependable, USB, Well Built, Simple to Use. Cons: None.
I saw this scanner in a yard sale today in perfect condition. Being an HP I thought it might work on Linux. So, because of its excellent condition and what looked to be a well designed scanner I got it. $8 isn't much to pay for a scanner to at least give it a try.
IT WORKS PERFECTLY WITH SUSE 10.0 Linux on USB. It is now supported by SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy), a Linux package. A number of Linux distros support this scanner with everything you need. And, it works well with the KDE desktop.
I needed a reasonably priced scanner and this one has more than exceeded my expectations. It's easy to use and seems dependable. The black and white, and color scanning is perfect for me. I have documents and photos I need to occasionally scan for my business and the HP ScanJet 3300C is absolutely perfect. I have to rate it among one of the best purchases/deals I've ever done.
Adequate for light personal use by davebenham ,Aug 06 '04
Pros: cheap, very easy to install and use Cons: color is inaccurate, HP included software doesn't do much
If you're looking for extremely accurate color, fast speed, and flexible software, then you should pass on this unit.
However, if you are just a plain home user who wants to scan an occasional picture in and then print it out for family, you'll probably find this scanner is a good purchase for you.
Color is adequate. I often use it create copies of pictures I took before I got my digital camera. When comparing the color on my printed picture to the original, it is close, but often blues are stronger and the red is weaker. Not sure if this is only a scanner problem, or if it's a scanner/printer combo problem. But the photos in printed form are quite similar to the screen, so I'm tempted to lean toward the scanner as the problem.
