Pros: thinner, lighter than the old ppc 6700. Windows mobile 6 is the best. Cons: still a little bulky. boot up slow.
I bought the HTC Mogul (ppc 6800) recently because Microsoft had just come out with Mobile 6. Since my two other microsoft phones (motorola Q and ppc 6700) had the latter versions, moving to the PPC 6800 was justified. The mogul actually replaced the ppc ...
Pros: Call quality, available programs, functionality. Cons: BlueTooth issues, internet browser, many programs that used to be standard now require additional cost.
I wanted this phone for quite awhile before letting myself get it. It is the second to the most expensive phone that US Cellular offers and also requires a Data plan that runs $24.95 per month extra (requires - they will not let you activate the ...
Pros: WM6, bluetooth, wi-fi, 2MP camera, great battery. Cons: still a little bulky BUT that is excpected for a pda
Let me start by saying that I have used HTC devices ever since the relase of the ppc6600 which ran MS pocket pc 2003. I upgraded to the ppc6700 which ran windows mobile 5 and now am using the ppc6800 with windows mobile 6. let me say that I am highly ...
Pros: Keyboard, bluetooth, GPS, WM6 (office, email), micro SD, Wi-Fi Cons: Larger screen, camera isn't too great, no MMS (picturemail) or SprintTV, earpiece volume
Decided to upgrade my Sprint flip phone to something more powerful/capable. Opted out of the Blackberry world and decided to go with the Mogul. I love the integration with Windows Vista and how I can do so much with my phone all at the same time. ...
Pros: Built-in wi-fi, touch-screen, keyboard Cons: Slow and unresponsive. Secondary graphics processor isn't used at all, overloading primary processor.
I have owned this device for just over 1 month. I bought it because I'd heard good things about HTC, and because it had great tech specs, including a touch-screen, wi-fi, full keyboard, a beefy primary processor, and a dedicated secondary graphics ...
Pros: Great screen, solid applications. Touch screen is very predictable. Cons: Too many to list here. Not enough battery life.
Really, you should probably avoid this phone. It is a very good PDA. I use it in full daylight, and I can read my Excel spreadsheets pretty well. HOWEVER, this thing is the worst phone ever, If I weren't buying it as a phone, I'd actually be ...
Pros: pda/cell phone/internet/whole-bunch-of-other-crap rolled into one device Cons: locks up frequently, sluggish, requires too many keystrokes for simple tasks, inferior operating system, cantankerous
I bought the pocket pc because the idea of having my pda, cell phone, and internet capabilities in one package was very appealing. Now that I've used it for over four months, I regret my decision. The phone works fine and reception is good. However, ...
Pros: Windows based, loads of available software & accessories Cons: Size
I purchased my HTC PPC 6800 phone because I was ready for something more gadgety after having a plain old Razor. And having had 2 pocket pc's in the past and being really happy with them, I thought this was the way to go.My ...
Pros: Awesome phone with a lot of control. I'm happy with it. Cons: Sprint customer no-service. People commonly ask, "Is that an iPhone?"
The HTC PPC 6800, aka Sprint Mogul, VX6800 and more, is similar to many HTC PPCs in the past. What makes the 6800 special is it is one of the few PPCs taking Windows Mobile 6 for a voyage, has a touch screen as well as a qwerty keyboard and looks better ...
Best PPC phone by HTC to date by leolavjr ,Jun 30 '08
Pros: EVDO-A service. Built in GPS. Email Capable. Slide out keyboard Cons: Fragile body on the phone and poor battery life and performance.
Initially, the PPC6800 was a very buggy PDA phone. It had terrible bluetooth capabilities and had tons of other issues that made the phone very mediocre at best. Sprint finally stepped up with several ROM updates that enabled the phone to be used on Sprint's EVDO A network and enabled the built-in GPS and eventually, made the phone usable again by fixing the bluetooth drivers.
Sprint really botched the rollout and introduction of this phone, but eventually, they got it right and made it a viable PDA Phone. It still lacks SMS and picture mail, but those are no big deal to most folks.
The phone is very good as it has built in GPS as well as the EVDO-A capability and eliminated the need to carry a GPS receiver and a wireless data card. It also allows you to have ready access to an Exchange server to take advantage of the "push" email feature on the Windows 6.0 platform.
Overall, I love my phone. It has been a great product, even when the bluetooth was iffy. It is a great source of entertainment and productivity.
Great choice for sending text messages, performs many tasks very well by chgomike ,Oct 19 '08
Pros: Expandable storage SD card, performs many tasks very well, packed with GPS, camera and appliations Cons: Thicker than most, no headphone jack but works well with most bluetooth stereo headsets
Fact is, I would have purchased the I-Phone but AT&T wouldn't give me my corporate discount on the equipment and service, so I bought this one. The phone is a little thicker, a little heavier but makes up for that with the great query keyboard and "tilt" feature. Comes packed with lots of applications including Windows Office Mobile w/Excel, PowerPoint and Word. The Communications Manager is excellenta allowing you to connect this to easily connect to all of your electronics and networks. I was a little worried about the "tilt" mechanism where the large touch screen tilts up at a slight angle to make viewing a little easier so I purchased the insurance but have had no trouble with it despite several nasty drops.
Caveat Emptor on Voice Command claim by sirebral ,Dec 23 '07
Pros: I loved the 6700. Got this one after taking back the Samsung-i760. Cons: They advertise "Voice–Activated Dialing with Voice Command" but it is not MS-VC.
The Display Card in the store and the website both say "VoiceActivated Dialing with Voice Command"
This is NOT MS Voice Command. The Samsung i760 comes with this product installed and uses the same wording.
In my conversations with tech support and customer service, they seemed to think this wording didn't matter. They have MS Voice Command on one phone and not the other. The tech tried to weasel out of the wording in the ad by saying that means the "Voice Command button" on the side of the phone. the only problem is that button is not identified as such anywhere except in the paperwork in the box, which you can't look at until you buy the product.
I think this is mis-leading as MS Voice command is a superb product that requires no "training" like the "Voice Speed dial" that is on the 6800 (the i760 also has this as well as MS Voice Command)
Slideout Keyboard, Smooth Cellular by kinnseattle ,Oct 10 '08
Pros:
The full qwerty keyboard makes texting a snap and side-view browsing convenient.
Cons:
Rom update removed ability to manually set internet memory allocation.
This is a smart phone in every sense of the term. The weight may be a put off for some but I specifically liked that aspect because it reminds me that I have a full feature pda phone at my fingertips. I notice that my friends with iPhones and Diamond don't respect their phone as a phone, instead they treat it more like a multi-media player. The processor and built-in ram are great, though I will always say, more is better - seriously, give us expandable RAM/ROM. With typical apps running you'll have around 20 mbs of free RAM to play with. Of course, the Sprint TV and Handmark may be loaded and run from the storage card (256 mb included, I bought a 4 gb) but again, all of these phone types should have a 2 gb to 4 gb flash ROM. Overall, my grade is B + (fantastic phone and leading edge, but could have redefined the smart phone by adding a little more memory than the rest of the guys have).
Pros: Excellent screen and hardware. Cons: Windows Mobile 6 is a travesty.
The Windows Mobile 6 operating system is buggy and inconsistent. The operating system would not recognize a micro SD card. The wireless synch (for email) interferred with active synch for files. The backspace key sometimes deleted characters behind it as expected, and sometimes characters in front of it. Messages during synchronization were unclear, so that the user doesn't really know if it has hung up or what is happening. It is very slow. "Closed" applications appear to remain running in the background, slowing the system considerably.
