Pros: Silent, efficient operation, multistage filter requires less maintenance Cons: Pump design and weak hose connector clips
I've used my Fluval 304 for 3 years to filter a 65 gallon tank housing a single, huge goldfish. The Fluval is distinct from other designs in that it's entirely sealed and self-contained, with the impeller and filtration media contained in single ...

Pros: Inexpensive to purchase and maintain, QUIET, and very effective filtration Cons: replace ribbed hose with smooth hose for ease of cleaning
Hi Folks,
I must tell you first my background, I have been in the aquarium hobby for about 3 years now, and I have been thru thick and thin with filtration systems, pretty much tried them all, thinking I don't need anything as big and bulky as...

Pros: 3 stage filtration like the professionals in a budget price range - silent operation Cons: Some people don't like the ribbed hosing. Priming can be tricky the first time.
Note: There are four sizes of this filter. I purchased the 304 version of the Fluval filter. Its not as big as the 404 but it has many of the same features and is a step up from the 104 and 204 by having more volume and more media compartments. This ...

Fantastic Fluval
by tobermori ,Sep 30 '07
Pros: Powerful, Quiet, ver little maintenance Cons: Spare parts are too expensive
Seal can be tricky
The Fluval 304 is a brilliant filter. Quiet and effective. I was reduced to 1 304 pushing my 120 galllon take for 2 months and my fish did just fine. The reason why I was down to one filter was becasuse the plastic clips on the other filter became brittle with age, and snapped. I had to run all over the place to find replacements and they were not cheap. This is the downside of Fluval. The spare parts are a rip off.
Otherwise, these are superb filters, and The 304 had been in service 5 years before the plastic pieces got brittle. So I cant complain too much.
The filter is also easy to clean. Can be a bit of a pig to seal, when closing. Use a bit of vasoline, that will do the trick.
