I purchased at Wal-Mart for about $30 +/-. Easy to take along as the seal is secure. The top is sealed in cooking w/ a soft rubber then you have the additional security of the locking top.
I've had other slow cookers and it's all the same as far as I can tell, but I do like the size of this one (6 qts)so that larger dishes can be prepared.
I chose this over the ones w/ all the extra settings like digital readings, auto turn off, etc. as I like the simplicity of the switch and the reliability of non-computerized controls in a simple appliance.
recommend this based on my experience so far.

Love it!! It is great for taking to functions because of the lock down lid. It is big enough to hold big items or ALOT of food. Mine cooks really fast even on low, but I have adjusted. It is my lifesaver !!! A working womans MUST !!!

I like the glass lid, for easy viewing, the rubber seal on the lid for a soft seal, and the fact that the lid can be fastened securely to the pot for traveling.
I also love the feature that the pot can be removed from the heat element for dish washing.
I like this item so well, I have purchased several for family members as gifts!!!
Whether you have a small family or a large family, this item is great!

Recently, I purchased a Rival smart pot. I used it one time and returned it the next day. I ran too hot, resulting in overcooked foods. I purchased the hamilton beach slow cooker instead and love it. I have already made five different recipies including a whole chicken, chicken legs, turkey meatballs, rice with lentil beans and mushroom barley soup. Everything came out perfectly. I love the fact that the crockpot switches to a warming temp at the end of the cook time. What a great feature for people whom are gone for 9-10 hours at a time. I find it convenient that I can see how much time is left for the cook cycle at a glance. The temperature probe worked perfectly when I made a whole chicken. After making five dishes while I was home, I feel comfortable leaving the machine on while I am at work.
