Pros: It makes ice cream, frozen yogurt, and gelato in 25-40 minutes. Cons: I cannot think of any cons. It is such a great ice cream maker!
I am in love with my Hamilton Beach 68220 1.5 Quart Ice Cream Maker! I actually just bought it 2 weeks ago at my local Sears. My kids were with me and they all wanted ice cream. It's kind of expensive to take 3 kids to Dairy Queen. Especially when they ...

Pros: No need for ice or salt in order to freeze your ice cream. Cons: Requires 12 hours of preparation before you can make ice cream.
I picked this unit up on sale at a local kitchen supply store, largely for making fruit sorbets (lime sorbet has become a bit of a staple around my house lately). The sorbet came out very nice, and froze up quickly, although the real treat came when I ...

Pros: quiet, fast once bowl is frozen, compact, delicious ice cream! Cons: plastic cover doesn't seem strong
I just made my first batch of ice cream - mint chocolate chip - with my new Hamilton Beach ice cream maker. I got the machine yesterday after going to the store to buy the Cuisinart (they didn't have it). Since this was only $29.00 CDN it caught my ...

So far so good
by neenoon ,Jul 01 '07
Pros: Easy to use
Easy to clean Cons: Somewhat noisy
Needs planning
Not sure how durable it will be... time will tell.
I've just made my first batch of ice cream this morning... Mmm Mmm good!
I've tried the very first recipe in the instruction guide, which is a basic vanilla.
You do need to do some cooking before hand, so last night it took me about 10 minutes, to prepare a custard like mixture that needed to be cooled down, which I did over night.
This morning all I had to do was pour the cream and vanilla in the custard and pour this in the machine and press the ON button.
25 minutes later I had a great ice cream. I just tasted it freshly made, when it's still soft serve and it was AMAZING! Right now it's chilling in the freezer, I can't wait to taste it again.

not worth it at all

Pros: can't think of any, it doesn't work Cons: flimsy top, doesn't "hold" the cold
Put the base into the freezer for 2 days; made up vanilla ice cream mixture, cooled this in the fridge overnight; into the unit it goes, it eventually looks like it's going to freeze or get to the soft-serve state, but it never really gets there.
Later, the top of the unit, which I put into the bowl of the mixture, flipped off the counter, onto the floor, and cracked into 6 pieces, great!
